Strictly's Anton Du Beke opens up on heartbreak over wife's 'inexplicable' diagnosis
The cherished BBC star married marketing executive Hannah Summers in 2017, having first met at Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey in 2012. The pair were delighted to welcome twins George and Henrietta following their wedding, after successful IVF treatment, reports The Mirror.
During an intimate chat on Giovanna Fletcher's Happy mum Happy Baby podcast, Anton shared Hannah had serious concerns about their ability to start a family due to her debilitating condition of endometriosis.

The NHS states endometriosis is "where cells similar to those in the lining of the womb (uterus) grow in other parts of the body. It can have a big impact on your life, but there are treatments that can help".
The esteemed dancer confessed his bewilderment at life's cruelty, as he watched Hannah lovingly interact with her nephews, questioning the fairness of their IVF journey.
He said: "I knew I wanted to be with her, I saw her with her nephews. She's so kind and so caring, I just couldn't understand the universe."
Anton bemoaned the apparent unfairness from above, stating: "And whoever is upstairs, if anyone's upstairs, looking down and going 'you are the most perfect person to have children, but I'm not going to let you have any children because I'm going to give you this'.
"And I'm going to say 'you're going to have this endometriosis, and you're going to suffer with this all of your life, chronically, and I'm not going to let you have any children.
"I thought that was peculiar, cruel, and inexplicable and unforgivable. And if ever I go up to somewhere and meet this person I would say 'I think you're not OK with decisions like this, this doesn't make any sense to me."

Anton has candidly spoken about the difficulties he and his wife Hannah encountered during their IVF journey, which eventually brought them closer together. The couple were blessed as the treatment worked on their first attempt, resulting in the birth of their twins, George and Henrietta, in 2017, with their nuptials taking place later that year.
In a heartfelt chat with Giovanna, Anton admitted his previous lack of knowledge about endometriosis and emphasised the importance of increased government funding for women's health services.
Reflecting on their ordeal, he shared: "Then we went through the process of IVF, well crying out loud. You girls are extraordinary. As much as I want to get involved, all I can do is hold your hand. It makes me emotional every time I talk about it. The injections, the stress, the anxiety. I have anxiety and stress but it's not my body.
"She has these injections and the bruises in the bum, in the thigh, in the stomach. And you're trying to help but what can you do? Whatever you want, tell me and I'll do it but that's all you have and it's horrendous as a man to watch it.
"You feel so inadequate and you want to do so much more but I can't do anything. And that's why you girls are so extraordinary, you're extraordinary that you do all this stuff."

"To be within the public sphere, you have to take it all, the good and the bad. But I think I would definitely want a more normal life for my kids ... "I want to still tour and have people come to the gigs and yes, I still want to make records and write songs every day. "But there's just a new set of challenges that I want to explore now, and that is having a family and being a dad." Ed previously revealed he stepped up security measures to protect his family after a "couple of weird things" have happened including an attempted break-in. During an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Ed explained: "I do think that there is a different kind of normal that is our business. I have like 24-hour security on my house. I have security with my kids. "I have security with me. I have security with my wife, just because there have been a couple of weird things over the years that have happened.' Just so you know there's lots of dangerous people out there. We've had like you know a break-in attempt. "In my industry, that's normal. That's kind of like an underlying thing that no one really talks about, but that is kind of a part of being in the public eye." Ed also revealed he rarely takes his children on outings in public because he's so concerned about them being photographed. He added: "I'm very, very private about my children's image ... I can't take them to zoos or parks or anything really without someone trying to film them. "There are times where the normal parts of life I kind of mourn for and wish I could push my kid on a swing in a public park and it not be weird, you know? ... "People go, well that's the trade-off. But my kids have not signed up to that."

'Phil wasn't in as great a shape as he used to be, but they did a great job,' founding Genesis member Peter Gabriel added. Though Gabriel didn't perform with the rock group, he explained: 'Me going was a rite of passage, really. I'd been part of the creation of Genesis, so I wanted to be there at the end.' Collins announced his retirement from live shows in 2022, after having previously said he can 'barely hold a drumstick' following a serious spinal injury in 2007. The injury damaged vertebrae in his upper neck and caused lasting nerve damage. 'I'm kind of physically challenged a bit, which is very frustrating because I'd love to be playing up there with my son,' he said in a September 2021 interview with BBC Breakfast. Collins' 24-year-old drummer son, Nic, filled in for his father during Genesis's final The Last Domino tour in 2021. Nic regularly drums for the band Better Strangers.
