Teddi Mellencamp still lives with ex Edwin Arroyave and wants him to date other women as she battles cancer

Teddi Mellencamp is still living with her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave as she battles stage four cancer. The reality star, whose Los Angeles mansion was targeted by burglars, opened up about her unusual living arrangements in an appearance on the Jamie Kern Lima Show on Tuesday. When the pair first separated in October 2024, they opted to let their kids, Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, five, live in their family home full time while Mellencamp, 44, and Arroyave, 48, took turns. Mellencamp's friend Kyle Richards provided a space for her to stay and once joked, 'I have shared custody with Teddi Mellencamp. She lives with me on Tuesdays and Wednesdays,' on Bravo's Hot Mic podcast. After Mellencamp was diagnosed with brain tumors and stage four cancer, that situation changed. Though there are times when Arroyave has stayed at their other house, when Mellencamp told him she was feeling 'really sick,' he decided to stay 'downstairs in the bedroom at our house right now.' She also said she wants him to start dating someone new. 'We can live in the same house,' explained Mellencamp. 'We don't argue. 'I always knew he'd do the right thing by me,' the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star said. 'If he wanted to, he could still be filing and finishing this divorce off right now. But, my dad [musician John Mellencamp] and family just said like, "I don't think this is the right thing for her to be able to try to navigate right now or figure out."' 'It was like, "Yeah, of course. No, we'll wait. We'll wait until she's better, and then we'll figure it out."' Mellencamp was rumored to have been involved in an affair prior to the official split, but in an appearance on The Skinny Confidential podcast in February, she hinted strongly that Arroyave's infidelity had been a problem for years. 'Me and Edwin had some of the most amazing years and the most amazing times, and when we met it was hot and it was all the things, and then there would be somebody else,' she admitted. 'And I'd be like, "It's okay, I'm gonna work through it, I'm gonna make him love me more!" Then you have kids and things happen,' she continued. Now she is giving him her blessing to see other women. 'I would be fine with him dating,' she told Lima. 'Is he fine with you dating?' the host asked. 'I don't know. We've talked about it. 'I think everyone is my life is worried about me in general. So, for a little while, I was dating somebody. 'It went all over the press and everybody's talking about it and I'm like, "One: this is long enough ago that by the time you found out who the person was I wasn't dating the person.' The former reality star said she also talked to her therapist asking, 'if I feel the urge, if I get asked on a date or if somebody wants to take me out, she's like, "You should go." 'She's like, "Anything that you want to do right now and you feel in your heart that you want to do, do it." She's like, "It could be if [Edwin] asked you on a date and you wanted to go, nobody's setting any rules for you."' As for for herself, the personal trainer said, 'for a little while, I was dating somebody. It went all over the press' but the relationship has since ended Mellencamp said that 'right now, I'm not wanting that from him.' 'I just want him to be happy, and I want our kids to be happy, and I want us to be able to have a good friendship and relationship,' she explained. 'I don't want to do anything to hurt him,' she said, adding, 'I kind of know how our marriage works.' Although she referred to Arroyave as her ex-husband at one time in the conversation , the personal trainer joked that she was unsure about 'what you call somebody you were married to, then you filed for divorce, and then you got cancer, so then everything went on hold.'

Teddi Mellencamp's Los Angeles home target of burglary as she was home with kids and husband

Two people allegedly attempted to burglarize former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Teddi Mellencamp's Los Angeles home on Monday night, her husband said. Three people jumped their gate and set off their alarm system, Mellencamp's estranged husband Edwin Arroyave told NBC News Los Angeles. The suspects broke in through a side door into their office, but fled after about 20 seconds he said. He and Mellencamp were both home at the time with their four children, who ranged in age from 5 to 16 years old. "By the time we came down, they had already ran out," Arroyave said. "But I just saw, obviously, the doors open at the house and stuff." A spokesperson from the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to NBC News that officers responded to a report of a burglary on Mellencamp's block at 10:15 p.m. on Monday night. The caller told officers that two men in black hoodies came to their house after a neighbor's house was burglarized, police said. Arroyave believes the suspects were scared off by the security system and the fact that people were home. Officers arrived quickly, but the suspects fled before they got to the house, Arroyave added. "You really don't see anything because they have hoods, fully covered, gloves," Arroyave said. "I mean, they're professionals at what they do and stuff, although these seem pretty young." Break-ins have become an "unfortunate thing" happening with some frequency in Los Angeles, he said. Arroyave focused on the positive aspects of the incident and that everyone was safe despite the scary moment. He urged others to "prepare for the unexpected." Mellencamp made headlines earlier this year when she revealed doctors found multiple tumors on her brain. She posted in February that she went to the hospital with a debilitating headache that prompted scans. She had previously been open about her ongoing battle with stage 2 melanoma, which metastasized into stage 4 cancer with tumors developed on her lungs and brain. Mellencamp shared later that month that the tumors 'significantly shrunk" following surgery and immunotherapy. In addition to her health struggle, Mellencamp is separated from Arroyave, but they paused divorce proceedings amid her cancer treatment. Arroyave has his own home but sometimes stays in a guest room at Mellencamp's house, according to Bravo, home of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." This helps ensure that Mellencamp never sleeps alone while she deals with her health issues.

Teddi Mellencamp's Estranged Husband Makes Move In Divorce Court Amid Her Cancer Battle

Teddi Mellencamp's estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, is taking legal steps to move their divorce along, even as she continues her battle with stage 2 melanoma. Arroyave previously shared that he is concerned about Mellencamp feeling alone and described how her diagnosis changed the dynamic of their relationship. Teddi Mellencamp filed for divorce from Edwin Arroyave in November 2024 after 13 years of marriage, and now his "reflexive" legal actions suggest a more determined shift toward separation. Arroyave took a major step forward in his divorce from Mellencamp, officially submitting his financial disclosures as the split moves through court. In legal documents filed on May 8, the 48-year-old told the court he has handed over his income and expense records, along with a list of assets, debts, community, and separate property. When Mellencamp filed for divorce in November 2024, Arroyave agreed that the relationship was over. However, he pushed back on the official date of separation and called for their prenuptial agreement to be enforced. According to In Touch, Arroyave requested that "all assets, income from all sources, and obligations of each party are his/her separate property, except as specifically set forth therein." He also stated that he may need to update his filings as more details about his separate assets become clear. On her end, Mellencamp haf submitted her initial financial disclosures to Arroyave back in February. In addition to handing over her financial disclosures, she requested primary legal and physical custody of their four children, offering him visitation rights. The star listed October 20, 2024, as the official separation date and cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for ending the 13-year marriage. Mellencamp also asked the court to grant her spousal support and prevent Arroyave from seeking any from her. That same month, Mellencamp revealed that doctors had discovered multiple tumors in her brain. "I have 3 more tumors in my brain and 2 tumors on my lungs. These are all a direct result of my melanoma," she explained. Despite the setbacks, she noted, "The doctors are hopeful that these additional mutations will be removed via immunotherapy … I am feeling positive and excited — that I will beat these tumors." Before their divorce took a more combative turn, Arroyave spoke openly about the emotional impact of Mellencamp's cancer diagnosis. In an episode of "The Eds" podcast, Arroyave detailed how he initially reacted when he learned of her condition. He said his first instinct was to make sure she felt supported and confident about her health outlook. As reported by The Blast, Arroyave described his approach as "reflexive," sharing that his priority was making sure Mellencamp did not feel isolated. He also said he focused on maintaining their relationship for the sake of their children and emphasized that taking care of her felt natural to him even during a painful time. "No matter what, I will always love Teddi," he said, highlighting his commitment to her. Despite their divorce, Arroyave said his split from Mellencamp brought a renewed closeness between them as she battled health issues. The TV personality shared that her cancer diagnosis shifted their focus entirely, pushing aside unresolved issues in favor of supporting her through treatment. In his words: "The first thing is just making sure that we take care of this first and all that other stuff. We'll see what happens with time. But for right now, it's just more of like, how do we take care of you? And how can we get you back to normal as fast as possible? That other stuff will figure itself out." Back in February, when Mellencamp underwent brain surgery to remove tumors, Arroyave stayed involved. He publicly thanked supporters on Instagram and said his ex was deeply grateful for the love and encouragement during her recovery. Despite dealing with their divorce process, another thing that had intensified was her cancer battle. Mellencamp shared that her cancer had advanced to stage 4, following a new wave of devastating news. The 43-year-old revealed in March that an emergency MRI had uncovered four more small tumors on her brain, pushing her melanoma into stage 4. Still, Mellencamp stayed determined. Last month, she spoke directly to her followers in an Instagram Stories video, thanking them for their continued support and sharing how she had been coping. She admitted that her emotions have fluctuated; some days she felt strong and hopeful, while others brought sadness and loneliness. Mellencamp said those ups and downs are part of what it means to face stage 4 cancer. As Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave's divorce battle moves forward, it is clear that they are navigating both legal and emotional crossroads.

'RHOBH' star Teddi Mellencamp says she's heartbroken by fan's comment that her cancer is terminal

Teddi Mellencamp shared her emotional reaction to a fan's comment about the reality star's likeliness of surviving her battle with cancer. "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" alum, 43, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in February, revealed Wednesday that her doctors recently found four more tumors in her brain. Mellencamp previously shared that her melanoma had metastasized to her brain and lungs. On Thursday, Mellencamp posted a screenshot featuring a comment from a fan, which read, "This is so heartbreaking. Typically, stage four cancer is terminal especially with metastasis. Praying that Teddi heals and is an outlier." "These kind of comments make me really sad," the mother of three wrote on the post she shared on her Instagram Story. "I know people are trying to help but heart breaking for me to read," she continued. "Of course I know the chances but I truly believe with my whole heart I will beat this and watch my kids graduate." Mellencamp, who is the daughter of rock icon John Mellancamp, shares daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 5, and son Cruz, 10, with her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave. In November, Mellencamp filed for divorce from Arroyave after 13 years of marriage. In her post, the TV personality went on to joke that she was also fighting to stay alive so that she could "vent" on her "The Two Ts in a Pod" podcast and "annoy my siblings by reminding everyone I am the favorite." During an interview with Us Weekly published on Tuesday, Mellencamp shared that doctors had discovered the additional tumors after she underwent emergency brain surgery last month. Mellencamp, who has been battling skin cancer since 2022, told the outlet that she was in the fight of her life. However, she said she is determined to remain positive for her family, friends and herself. "I'm fighting for my life," Mellencamp told the outlet. "But also for my family's life and all the people I love." In February, after medication became ineffective for her migraines and Mellencamp began feeling severe pain, she rushed to an emergency room with Arroyave. "The pain had become something I'd never felt before," she said. "They diagnosed me with multiple brain tumors, but the [ER doctor] says he can't take them out; they've got to get me into Cedars-Sinai [hospital]. "And I'm like, 'Can't you get me in tonight? I want to go tonight.' I had six brain tumors and two lung tumors; they all came from melanoma that metastasized into these tumors inside of my body." "I know people are trying to help but heart breaking for me to read." Her "RHOBH" co-star, Kyle Richards, made a few phone calls to get her into a hospital immediately. "Kyle saved the day," Mellencamp said. "I believe it was within 24 hours that an incredible surgeon was able to remove four tumors from my brain. I didn't know they had been there for six months to a year, and we had no idea." Mellencamp began radiation and immunotherapy treatment immediately after her surgery, which took a toll on her body. "I thought I was going to feel like how I felt after my neck lift," she said. "My reaction is always a headache, and I found out that's good news because it means that the immunotherapy or the radiation is killing your cancer." In a post on her Instagram Sory Wednesday, Mellencamp said after undergoing both radiation and immunotherapy the day before that she felt "so tired and run down, but I know it's going to get better again." "Something that everyone can keep in mind … I kind of thought that I'd already beaten it, and then, a couple days later, I found out I had four more tumors. So, there are so many different highs and lows, and yeah, but I've learned a lot." Mellencamp also shared that her famous father calls to check in on her every day. "Some days, I'm not in the mood. I don't want a pep talk," she said. "[I tell him], 'I'll talk to you tomorrow. I'll be more pep talk-ready, but I love you.'" Mellencamp said that John, who survived a heart attack when he was 36, has also given her advice on coping with her health struggles. "I remember his life completely changing," Mellencamp said of the "Jack & Diane" singer. "And some of the moments [when] I felt really scared, I was like, 'Hold on. I'm not changing everything about my life. I want more things. I want to keep building.' "But he's like, 'There are moments where you emotionally won't be able to control how you're feeling because of a certain medication or a certain whatever. And you have to give yourself some grace and know this isn't you sometimes. And that's OK.'"
