The change is only expected to impact a small number of customers, with a "vast majority" already owning newer models, including V6 and TV 360, which will be unaffected. RECOMMENDED READING: Virgin Media has offered a free upgrade to a select group of customers who still use a TiVo box. A Virgin Media spokesperson said: 'We have written directly to the small proportion of customers with a TiVo box, who have used BBC iPlayer within the past six months, to inform them that their box will not support iPlayer from 23 July. "As we have previously communicated directly to relevant customers, anyone with a TiVo box is able to upgrade to a new Virgin TV 360 box at no extra cost.'

There's a nice boost from Virgin with the firm offering 14 premium telly channels for free. Just in time for the summer break, Virgin Media has confirmed that it's offering customers a swathe of telly channels without paying anything for the privilege. The boost is available from today, but those wanting to watch only have a limited time to tune in with the freebie ending on August 17. So what's included in the upgrade? Virgin says it is dishing out access to 14 premium South Asian channels including Sony MAX HD, Zee TV HD and Utsav Gold HD. With this offer now live, Virgin users can tune into shows, entertainment and movies including global blockbusters such as Pushpa: The Rule Part 2 - the highest-grossing film in India in 2024. There's also cricket action from the World Championship of Legends and entertainment channels covering an array of genres, including drama, comedy and lifestyle, and showcasing popular TV series such as Anupama. That means users could miss out on hit shows like EastEnders, Doctor Who, Silent Witness and more unless they take action. Virgin told The Sun that only a 'small proportion' of customers are affected, and all have been contacted directly. Anyone using a TiVo box that has accessed iPlayer in the last six months will need to upgrade to a newer model. The good news is the upgrade to Virgin TV 360 is free of charge. Customers who haven't yet made the switch are being urged to do so before the cut-off date to avoid disruption.
