Ordinance issued to regulate virtual assets
The president on Thursday issued an ordinance to establish a Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (Vara) to regulate the services related to virtual assets in the country with a view to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing. President Asif Zardari signed the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority Ordinance 2025, which would come into force immediately all over the country. The head office of the authority would be in Islamabad, but its regional offices could be established anywhere. The ordinance says that the Vara will have the status of a corporate body, hence, it will be able to hold property, makes purchases and sales and enter into contracts. according to the ordinance, it will also be able to file cases, according to the ordinance. Vara is empowered to issue, suspend or revoke licences for virtual assets and service providers; make regulations for the supervision and regulation of virtual assets; take steps to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing, with powers of investigation, disciplinary action and imposing fines. According the ordinance, a board will run the affairs of Vara. The board would have a chairman of the board and two members from the Finance Ministry and the Law Ministry. It could include more members as advisers. The term of office of the chairman and non-official members will be three years. The ordinance says that no person would provide services related to virtual assets without a licence issued by Vara. It adds that fine could be imposed if someone found offering those services without a licence.

President gives assent toFinance Bill
President Asif Zardari has signed the Finance Bill 2025, giving effect to the budget for fiscal 2025-26 from Tuesday, July 1, according to a gazette notification issued here. As per the notification dated June 29, the Finance Act 2025 received the president's assent on June 27. On Thursday, the National Assembly approved the Rs17.6 trillion budget along with Rs463 billion new taxes. The House approved the second budget of the government of PM Shehbaz Sharif with a comfortable majority. During a voting on one clause, the coalition government mustered the support of 201 members of the NA as against 57 votes of the opposition parties.

President urges efforts to strengthen economy
President Asif Zardari on Monday, citing the country's vast potential for development, called for concerted efforts to build a robust and self-reliant national economy. The president, in a meeting with Pakistan Peoples Party leaders and workers at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on the occasion of Eid ul-Azha, extended Eid greetings to them. He praised the workers as the strength of the party, acknowledging their steadfast support during challenging times. He urged them to remain dedicated to the nation and contribute to its progress. He also called for working together for the country's development and prosperity. He highlighted agriculture as the cornerstone of the national economy, stressing the need to prioritize its growth and support farmers to strengthen economic foundations. The president expressing concerns over rising extremism in India, said that the Indian minorities, especially Muslims and Christians, faced discrimination and oppression. India's extremist Hindutva ideology poses threats to the entire region, he added. He also underscored the deep historical, religious, and cultural roots of Muslims in the subcontinent.

Four TTP men neutralised in DG Khan
Punjab Police on Sunday carried out a major operation against operatives of outlawed TTP in DG Khan and killed four alleged terrorists. According to a statement, police received intelligence about the movement of terrorists at Daulat Wala Mor, located in Kot Mubarak, a border area between Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The terrorists were reportedly setting up illegal checkpoints in the area. Later, Punjab Police and its Elite Force teams swiftly moved in, while commandant of Border Military Police, Asad Khan Chandia, sealed entry routes into the tribal area. The police later surrounded the terrorists and launched an operation, during which intense exchange of fire took place. The TTP operatives, heavily armed, attacked police teams, but Punjab Police responded "with timely and effective action, foiling their nefarious plans". In the operation, four TTP men were killed, while several others were injured. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, the remaining terrorists used the cover of darkness, bushes and dunes to flee the scene. Police recovered weapons and explosives from the possession of the deceased terrorists. A search and sweep operation is ongoing in the area following the encounter. President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to law enforcement agencies for "eliminating four Khawarij during an operation in DG Khan".

Nine terrorists neutralised in K-P IBOs
Listen to article Security forces killed nine India-backed terrorists in three separate operations in Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and Khyber districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Sunday. According to the ISPR, the media wing of the military, the Khwarij – a term used for the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan – were killed on the night between Saturday and Sunday. It said that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the slain Indian sponsored terrorists. "An intelligence based operation was conducted by the Security Forces in Dera Ismail Khan District, on reported presence of Indian sponsored khwarij. During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location, and after an intense fire exchange, four Indian-sponsored khwarij were sent to hell," the ISPR stated. Another intelligence based operation was conducted in Tank District and in ensuing fire exchange, two more Indian-sponsored Khwarij were sent to hell by the security forces. In third encounter that took place in general area Bagh, Khyber district, own troops successfully neutralised three more Indian-sponsored khwarij," it added. "Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed Indian-sponsored khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in these areas." According to the ISPR statement, sanitization operations were being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area. "The security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian Sponsored Terrorism from the country," it added. President Asif Zardari praised the security forces for their bravery in killing nine Indian-sponsored terrorists in three separate operations in K-P. He appreciated the security forces' successful operations to eliminate India-backed terrorists. The president said that the security forces would continue to operate until the terrorists were completely eliminated. "Our resolve to eliminate terrorist elements and defend the country remains unwavering," he said, reiterating the national resolve to completely eliminate "Fitnat-ul-Khawarij".
