Yamaha, Unique hike motorcycle prices in Pakistan following NEV levy imposition
Following the footsteps of Atlas Honda and Pak Suzuki Motor Company, Yamaha Motor Pakistan has announced revised retail prices for its motorcycle lineup, effective July 1, 2025. This follows changes introduced in the federal budget 2025-26, including the implementation of a new NEV [New Energy Vehicle] levy on automobile sales. As per the updated price list, the company's YB125Z (Red/Black) mode will now retail at Rs429,000, which includes Rs65,441 in sales tax and Rs4,057 in NEV levy. The YAMAHA-YB125Z DX (Red/Black/Gray) has seen a price increase as well, and now stands at Rs459,500, after taxes and levies. Yamaha's YBR125 (Red/Gray/Black) will now be available at Rs471,500, while the YBR125G (Black) will cost Rs490,500. The YBR125G (Matt) has emerged as the most expensive model in the lineup, clocking in at Rs493,500 after new taxes. Meanwhile, Unique, a brand of D.S. Motors Private Limited, has also raised the price of its UD-70cc motorcycle models by Rs3,000 across all listed variants, effective July 18, 2025. The company, in its notice to the dealers, cited recent taxation measures in the budget for FY25-26, increased production costs, rising import duties, and the current economic conditions as reasons for the hike. Days ago, Pak Suzuki Motor Company announced revised retail prices for its motorcycle lineup. Earlier, Atlas Honda, which holds over half of the motorcycle market share in Pakistan, increased the prices of its bikes by Rs2,000 to Rs6,000 per unit on account of new taxes. The NEV levy, introduced in the Finance Act 2025, applies to all internal combustion engine motor vehicles and motorcycles and came into effect from July 1, 2025, increasing prices significantly. According to the details, the NEV levy covers all vehicle categories from basic motorcycles to luxury SUVs. However, the policy exempts new energy vehicles (electric and hybrid cars), vehicles manufactured exclusively for export, diplomatic mission vehicles, and those belonging to international organisations with diplomatic privileges. Experts believe that the rate hike could dampen demand in the already struggling two-wheeler market, where affordability remains a key concern for buyers.

Atlas Honda hikes bike prices in Pakistan following new tax imposition
Atlas Honda Limited, Pakistan's leading motorcycle manufacturer, has increased the prices of its bikes by Rs2,000 to Rs6,000 per unit, effective July 1, 2025, mainly due to the imposition of a new tax in the federal budget for FY25-26, according to industry sources. Dealers confirmed the price hike on Monday, attributing it to the government's decision to impose a 1% Carbon Levy on the import of motorcycle engines. Muhammad Sabir Shaikh, Chairman of the Association of Pakistan Motorcycle Assemblers (APMA), told Business Recorder that the additional levy has triggered the increase in prices. Following the revision, the price of Honda's most popular model, the CD-70, has increased by Rs2,000 to Rs159,900, while the CD-70 Dream now costs Rs170,900, also up Rs2,000. The Pridor model has seen a Rs3,000 rise, now priced at Rs211,900. The CG-125 has climbed Rs4,000 to Rs238,900, while CG-125 Self and CG-125s Gold both went up by Rs4,000 to Rs286,900 and Rs296,900, respectively. Among the higher-end models, the CB-125F now costs Rs396,900, marking a Rs6,000 jump. The CB-150F saw a Rs6,000 increase, reaching Rs499,900, while the CB-150F Special's price rose by Rs6,000 to Rs503,900. Atlas Honda holds over half of the motorcycle market share in Pakistan, and the latest price hike is expected to impact affordability for a large segment of the population already coping with high inflation. NEV Policy 2025-30: Honda to roll out Pakistan's first E-scooter
KARACHI: Atlas Honda Limited has announced plans to introduce an electric scooter specifically designed for the Pakistani market during the current fiscal year. The announcement was made through an official notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday, marking a significant step for the company as it ventures into the electric vehicle segment amid the federal government's launch of the National Electric Vehicle (NEV) Policy 2025-30. According to the company's communication with the PSX, Atlas Honda is actively working with regulatory authorities to secure necessary approvals and complete quality and road testing before the official market rollout. The company stated its intention to launch the electric scooter before the fiscal year concludes. While the official name of the model has not yet been disclosed, strong market speculation surrounds the 'BENLY e' scooter, which the company had previously introduced during a soft launch event at its Sheikhupura factory in 2023. Originally developed by Honda Motor Co. in Japan for business-use deliveries, the BENLY e scooter features a compact electric system, a spacious rear cargo deck, and a reverse-assist function, making it particularly suitable for congested urban areas in Pakistan. Atlas Honda's entry into the electric two-wheeler segment comes at a time when the government has formally embarked on a determined push to shift Pakistan towards sustainable transportation solutions. The NEV Policy 2025-30, unveiled last Thursday by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan, sets ambitious targets, including ensuring that 30 percent of all new vehicles sold in the country by 2030 will be electric. The policy is expected to generate substantial economic and environmental benefits, including savings of 2.07 billion litres of fuel annually, equivalent to nearly one billion dollars in foreign exchange, and a reduction in carbon emissions by 4.5 million tons per year. An initial subsidy of nine billion rupees has been allocated for the fiscal year 2025-26 to facilitate the introduction of over 116,000 electric bikes and more than 3,000 electric rickshaws. Notably, a quarter of this subsidy is earmarked for women, with the government positioning electric mobility as a safer, affordable, and eco-friendly option for female commuters in urban centres.
