Sony unveils Ghost of Yotei PS5 limited edition bundles inspired by Japanese art

Sony has announced a limited-edition PlayStation 5 bundle tied to the upcoming game Ghost of Yotei. The bundle features a redesigned PS5 console, a matching DualSense controller, and a digital copy of the game. Sony plans to release two distinct designs inspired by Japanese art, set to launch on October 2 alongside the game's debut. Sony revealed the new bundles during its State of Play livestream. The designs draw from the fictional Ezo region depicted in Ghost of Yotei, created by the game's developer, Sucker Punch. The first design, called the Gold Limited Edition, takes inspiration from kintsugi, a Japanese art technique that repairs broken pottery with gold lacquer. This design highlights gold accents on the console and controller. The second design, called the Black Limited Edition, uses black tones influenced by sumi-e, a traditional style of Japanese ink painting. Both controllers in the bundles carry a silhouette of Atsu, a character from the game, placed on the touchpad and rendered in gold and black to match the respective bundles. Sony said the Gold Edition bundle will be available worldwide, while the Black Edition will be sold exclusively through in regions where this is supported. Each bundle includes a disc edition PS5 console, a DualSense wireless controller, and a digital copy of Ghost of Yotei Standard Edition with pre-order benefits. For PS5 owners who already have the slim or Pro versions, Sony will offer limited-edition console covers that match these designs. These covers and the limited-edition DualSense controllers will also be available for separate purchase through online retailers, but only in limited quantities. The bundles and accessories will launch on October 2, which will coincide with the exclusive PS5 release of Ghost of Yotei. Sony has stated that it will offer pre-order information at a later date.

Ghost of Yotei gameplay deep dive reveals open world changes, clue system and Kurosawa mode return

Ghost of Yotei finally got a detailed gameplay showcase at PlayStation's latest State of Play. The upcoming PS5 exclusive, set to release on October 2, builds on Ghost of Tsushima but brings new ideas to the table. The biggest changes are in how players explore the world, pick quests and fight enemies. Sucker Punch showed over 20 minutes of new footage, highlighting how the game lets you track clues, hunt bandits, and survive as Atsu, a lone mercenary seeking revenge. She's not a samurai or ninja like Jin from the original. She's on her own path, using whatever it takes to win. Clue-based exploration and bounty system Instead of just marking a spot on the map, Ghost of Yotei uses a clue system. Defeated enemies can give you information, leading to new locations and quests. Clues show up on cards so you can track what you've learned. This makes exploration more active and personal. The biggest upgrade that nobody is talking about in Ghost of Yotei has been done to exploration:Ubisoft-style checklist open world is completely have FINALLY removed the question marks from the map and now inspired by Elden Ring and Red Dead Redemption 2's… As Atsu's story grows, so does her reputation. A bounty gets placed on her head, attracting hunters who will track her down. She can also collect bounties and take out outlaws for rewards. This adds tension to every part of the world and makes traveling feel more dangerous and real. New weapons, allies and ways to fight Combat looks even better this time. Atsu can fight with katana, odachi, spear, kusarigama or dual swords. Each weapon works differently against certain enemies. She also has bows, rifles, bombs and other throwables. The old grappling hook returns, and now there's a spyglass to spot enemies from far away. Bounties, clue cards, and a wolf ally are all part of Atsu's journey for vengeance in Ghost of Yōtei, out October 2 on PS5. Catch up on the new details from today's State of Play: She's not alone either. Atsu will have allies in the game, including a mysterious wolf companion. Players can also build camps anywhere in the wild to rest, cook, and talk to characters who help upgrade your gear. The world feels alive and reactive. Lo-fi mode and tribute to filmmakers Ghost of Yotei continues the visual creativity of the first game with three special modes. Kurosawa Mode returns, turning everything black and white in tribute to the famous director. But now there are two more. Ghost of Yotei PS5 Graphics 🔥🤯 Miiko Mode brings the camera closer during fights and adds more intense blood and mud effects. Then there's Lo-fi Mode, inspired by Shinichirō Watanabe. It adds chilled music and soft sounds while you explore. The tracks are made by Watanabe himself, adding a calm, dreamy feeling to the world. This mode lets you enjoy peaceful moments just by walking through the landscape.

Ghost Of Yōtei has its own limited edition PS5 – here's where you can buy it

Sony has announced two new PlayStation 5 consoles that come with Ghost Of Yōtei, ahead of its launch this autumn. In case you missed it, Sony held another of its State Of Play presentations last night; one centred entirely on its next major PlayStation 5 exclusive, Ghost Of Yōtei, which is scheduled for October 2. It wasn't a particularly long showcase, clocking in at only 20 minutes, and while new details were shared, like improved combat and optional modes meant to emulate Japanese film directors Takashi Miike and Shinichirō Watanabe, it very much looks like more of Ghost Of Tsushima. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the presentation was that the game will launch with not one but two new PlayStation 5 console variants, that are included in limited edition bundles. Both versions feature the same design of Mount Yōtei, a real-life Japanese landmark that features prominently in the game, with one being coloured gold and the other being black. According to the PlayStation Blog, the former is inspired by kintsugi, an art form that involves reparing broken ceramics with gold and lacquer, while the latter is inspired by black ink paintings, also known as sumi-e, and the basis for Ōkami's art design. Each console comes with a matching DualSense controller, with protagonist Atsu depicted on the touchpad, as well as a digital copy of Ghost Of Yōtei and the pre-order content (which consists of an in-game mask for Atsu to wear and seven new PlayStation Network avatars). At the time of writing, the limited edition bundles for Ghost Of Yōtei aren't available for pre-order, with Sony only saying that pre-order details will be shared at a later date. What we do know is that while the gold bundle will be sold through the PlayStation Direct store and other select retailers, the black bundle will be exclusive to PlayStation Direct. While these bundles are obviously meant to attract new PlayStation 5 owners, Sony will be selling console covers with the gold patterns separately. So, if you already own a PlayStation 5 but really like the design of the new ones, you don't have to invest in a new console. Unfortunately, Sony is only offering suitable covers for the newer slim and PlayStation 5 Pro models, meaning those who still have the original bulky model are out of luck. Plus, for whatever reason, it seems console covers with the black pattern won't be sold separately. More Trending Both the gold and black DualSense controllers will be available as individual purchases but, just like the consoles, the black one will be exclusive to PlayStation Direct. Sony hasn't shared prices yet, but you can bet these bundles won't be cheap. For what it's worth, the Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 bundles on PlayStation Direct are £339.99 for the digital edition and £434.99 for the standard edition. However, the consoles are the usual white ones, so Sony will almost certainly charge extra since these Ghost Of Yōtei bundles feature fancy new designs. Not to mention Sony bumped up the price of the digital console from £389.99 to £429.99 this past April. As for the console covers, based on the ones Sony already sells, they could cost anywhere from £44.99 to £54.99. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter. Ghost of Yotei gameplay revealed, coming to PS5 on October 2: Watch it here

Sony has officially revealed Ghost of Yotei, a new samurai action-adventure game exclusive to the PlayStation 5. The game will launch worldwide on October 2, and is being developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the team behind the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima. This standalone sequel brings a new character, story, and setting, but retains the cinematic combat and open-world gameplay fans loved in the original. During a dedicated showcase event, Sony gave a first look at the upcoming title's gameplay, visuals, and story direction. What's the game about? Ghost of Yotei follows Atsu, a ronin (a samurai without a master) who sets out on a mission to hunt down six outlaws responsible for her family's death. The story draws inspiration from Japanese folklore, especially the legend of the onryo, a vengeful spirit — a role Atsu grows into as the plot unfolds. Set in Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido) during the year 1603, the game offers an open-world experience that encourages exploration at your own pace. Players will be able to focus on different gameplay aspects depending on what they enjoy most, whether that's stealth, combat, or story progression. Key features and visual styles Combat in Ghost of Yotei is designed to feel like a classic samurai film. The developers say the goal is to replicate the tension and precision of swordfighting, supported by rich visuals and atmospheric environments. This time, you'll also have a wolf companion that fights alongside you. The game includes multiple cinematic visual modes: Kurosawa Mode: Black-and-white filter inspired by legendary filmmaker Akira Kurosawa. Miike Mode: Intense, close-up, and bloody action, named after director Takashi Miike. Watanabe Mode: A laid-back, lo-fi look inspired by Shinichirō Watanabe, known for Samurai Champloo. There's also an expanded photo mode, giving players tools to capture and share the game's detailed environments and action sequences. Special edition PS5 and limited accessories Alongside the game, Sony will launch a limited-edition PS5 console and accessories themed around Ghost of Yotei. Details on pricing and availability are expected closer to the launch date. Ghost of Yotei: Gameplay
