#SHOWBIZ: Ayob apologises to 4U2C
KUALA LUMPUR: The Vice President of Music Malaysia Ayob Abdul Majid, 62, has issued an apology following his intervention in a dispute between composer Man Senoi and rap group 4U2C. Ayob had previously offered to mediate the conflict between Man Senoi and 4U2C concerning the recently announced "WE 4U2C Live in Concert" event. "I'd like to provide some clarification regarding the viral issue involving my previous comments about the group 4U2C," he said. "First of all, I'd like to apologise if any of my statements have offended anyone, particularly the original members of 4U2C or their fans. "My intention wasn't to belittle or demean anyone, but simply to share a little history based on my knowledge of the industry." Ayob had previously claimed to have been involved with 4U2C some time ago, including with several original members like Datuk AC Mizal, around the early 2000s. "I acknowledge that there may have been errors in my delivery style that were misunderstood or caused offence. I accept criticism with an open heart," he added. "As Vice President of Music Malaysia, I'm responsible for maintaining harmony and camaraderie among artistes. "Therefore, I urge that this issue isn't exaggerated or sensationalised within the entertainment world." He emphasised that if there's any dissatisfaction, "the door of communication is always open for all parties." "Avoid misunderstandings through social media. We're all adults and mature, and it's better if this matter is resolved amicably in person or through proper channels," he said. "Hopefully, all parties can take a more positive approach to maintain dignity and unity in our art world." Yesterday, during a press conference about song copyright issues, organised by 4U2C and event organiser Juss Event, AC Mizal criticised Ayob, describing him as wanting to "be a hero" in this matter.

#SHOWBIZ: Spring guitarist Iskandar passes away in Miri
KUALA LUMPUR: Tengku Raden Iskandar Tengku Ismail, better known as Iskandar Spring, the talented guitarist from the popular rock band Spring, sadly passed away at his residence in Miri, Sarawak, at approximately 1am this morning. He was 53. Ayob Abd Majid, Vice Chairman of Music Malaysia, confirmed the news, stating his association was informed by Iskandar's wife, Nur Hidayah Cecilia. "I was informed that Iskandar died at 1am this morning in Miri. I immediately informed Ameng Spring's wife, Sabariah, who then contacted Cecilia. His body is currently being prepared at the mosque," Ayob told BH Online. "He had been suffering from a stroke and kidney failure for a long time." Attempts by BH Online to reach Cecilia for comment were unsuccessful. Ayob remembered Iskandar as not just a gifted musician and one of Spring's co-founders, but also a dear friend and "comrade-in-arms." "We used to work closely when we were at Sony Music, where Spring was under my care at the time. Our relationship wasn't just professional; it was also full of friendship and mutual respect," he shared. "I've been saddened to follow the progress of his health, where he suffered from a stroke and kidney failure, before he moved to his wife's village in Miri. The last time we were in touch was when I delivered a donation to him. Even during that difficult period, his voice remained calm, patient, and full of gratitude." Ayob added that Iskandar was never forgotten by his fellow artists. "We at Konsortium Irama, together with PJ Art Lane, Ameng Spring, and Umarul Iklim, once organised a special charity programme to help ease his burden when he was ill. The programme wasn't just a fundraiser; it was a symbol of love and loyalty within the country's arts scene. His passing is a great loss for the Malaysian music world." "However, his legacy, rhythm, spirit, and friendship will continue to be remembered. May Allah forgive all his sins, accept his good deeds, and place his soul among the righteous," he said. Previously, it was reported that Iskandar had been paralysed and was suffering from various chronic illnesses, including diabetes and speech difficulties. He also required regular dialysis due to kidney complications, which left him unable to work and without a source of income.

PDRM planning book on senior police officials' experience in special ops
KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are planning a book containing the experiences of former senior police officials carrying out special operations to act as reference for junior officers and personnel. Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said they have reached out for views and information from members of the Retired Senior Police Officers' Association (Respa) who have been involved in successful operations. 'In the Special Branch itself, we have produced a book on operations carried out, in the Criminal Investigation Department I feel many operations need to be recorded as reference to officers and personnel who have just gotten involved in such operations. 'This might be because there's too much information and experience among retired police officials, maybe there are similar operations and this book can be a guide so that new officers don't make the same mistakes,' he told reporters after officiating the 41st Respa annual general meeting here today, with Respa chairman Datuk Meor Chek Hussein Mahayuddin in attendance. He added that the effort would take some time as it required retired officers to share their experiences and information. 'Many senior officers who have retired have approached me personally, sometimes about sensitive legal issues, and I've used that a lot as a guide,' he said. In his speech, Ayob urged Respa members to update their personal details in the e-Pesara PDRM system, especially their latest addresses, health status and beneficiary's contact details so that information relating to benefits from the government could be channelled well. 'I pray that Respa continues to be successful in its noble efforts in safeguarding its members' interests and welfare,' he added. Respa also channelled donations worth RM51,712 to the beneficiaries of the Sungai Senam Camp Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) Unit 5 personnel who were involved in the May 13 crash in Teluk Intan. Ayob presented a cheque to FRU deputy commander ACP Mohd Fadhli Daud, who represented the beneficiaries.

Police to tap retired officers' experience for special ops guidebook
KUALA LUMPUR: Federal police are planning to produce a book which documents its special operations to serve as a guide for young officers and personnel. Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the book, which would contain information of its special operations, could help junior officers avoid repeating past mistakes. "To realise this initiative, we will gather information and insights from members of the Retired Senior Police Officers Association (Respa), who had previously been involved in these special operations. "In the Special Branch (SB), we already have books documenting the operations conducted. "For departments like the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), I believe many operations should also be documented to serve as guidance for new officers and personnel. "This is because veteran officers hold a wealth of experience and knowledge. There may be similar operations in the future where the same mistakes could be repeated by new officers," he told reporters after attending the Respa AGM at the Police College today. He said the effort would take time as it requires gathering experiences and detailed accounts from veteran officers. "This initiative should also be undertaken by other departments such as the Internal Security and Public Order Department and the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID). "Personally, many retired senior officers still send me messages from time to time regarding sensitive legal issues and others I often use their input as a guide," he said. Meanwhile, in his speech, Ayob urged Respa members to update their personal information in the PDRM e-Pensioner system, particularly their current address, health status, and emergency contact details. "This is to ensure smooth communication regarding benefits and rewards provided by the government. "I pray that Respa will continue to succeed in its noble mission of safeguarding the welfare and interests of its members. All the contributions and sacrifices made will always be appreciated," he said.
