PDRM planning book on senior police officials' experience in special ops
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said they have reached out for views and information from members of the Retired Senior Police Officers' Association (Respa) who have been involved in successful operations.
'In the Special Branch itself, we have produced a book on operations carried out, in the Criminal Investigation Department I feel many operations need to be recorded as reference to officers and personnel who have just gotten involved in such operations.
'This might be because there's too much information and experience among retired police officials, maybe there are similar operations and this book can be a guide so that new officers don't make the same mistakes,' he told reporters after officiating the 41st Respa annual general meeting here today, with Respa chairman Datuk Meor Chek Hussein Mahayuddin in attendance.
He added that the effort would take some time as it required retired officers to share their experiences and information.
'Many senior officers who have retired have approached me personally, sometimes about sensitive legal issues, and I've used that a lot as a guide,' he said.
In his speech, Ayob urged Respa members to update their personal details in the e-Pesara PDRM system, especially their latest addresses, health status and beneficiary's contact details so that information relating to benefits from the government could be channelled well.
'I pray that Respa continues to be successful in its noble efforts in safeguarding its members' interests and welfare,' he added.
Respa also channelled donations worth RM51,712 to the beneficiaries of the Sungai Senam Camp Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) Unit 5 personnel who were involved in the May 13 crash in Teluk Intan.
Ayob presented a cheque to FRU deputy commander ACP Mohd Fadhli Daud, who represented the beneficiaries.

Gunmen involved in Kashmir tourist attack killed

(EPA Images pic) NEW DELHI : Indian security forces have killed three Pakistani gunmen who were involved in an April attack on Hindu tourists in Indian Kashmir that led to an intense military conflict between the two countries, home minister Amit Shah said today. The heavily-armed men were killed in a military operation yesterday, more than three months after 26 people were gunned down in a popular resort town of Indian Kashmir on April 22. 'I want to tell the parliament (that) those who attacked in Baisaran were three terrorists and all three have been killed,' he said. Shah said all three were Pakistani nationals and identified two of them as members of Lashkar-e-Taiba, a UN-designated terrorist group based in Pakistan. 'Indian security agencies have detailed evidence of their involvement in the attack,' he said in a speech in the lower house of parliament. Yesterday's operation took place in the mountains of Dachigam, around 30km from the disputed region's main city of Srinagar, the army said in a statement. The attack in April saw gunmen burst out of forests near Pahalgam and rake crowds of visitors with automatic weapons. All those killed were listed as residents of India except one man from Nepal. Survivors said gunmen had separated the men from the women and children and ordered some of the men to recite the Muslim declaration of faith. India accused Pakistan of backing the attackers, a charge Islamabad denied, sparking an intense four-day conflict between the nuclear-armed rivals in May that killed more than 70 people on both sides. Muslim-majority Kashmir has been divided between India and Pakistan since their independence from British rule in 1947, and the neighbours – who both claim the region in full – have fought two wars and several conflicts over its control. Shah said a security meeting was held immediately after the attack and it was decided that the attackers should not be 'allowed to leave the country and return to Pakistan'. Investigators relied on eyewitness accounts and forensic evidence to establish that the rifles found on the men were the same that were used in the April attack, he said. 'It was confirmed that these three rifles were involved in killing of our innocent civilians,' said Shah. A shadowy group called The Resistance Front (TRF) initially claimed responsibility for the April attack. But as public criticism mounted over the killings, the group retracted its claim. Earlier this month, the US described the TRF as a 'front and proxy' of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

DPM Zahid: Govt to roll out multi-ministry blitz to tackle 53pc surge in child sexual crimes in Malaysia
PUTRAJAYA, July 29 — The government will adopt an integrated approach involving various ministries and agencies to address the sharp rise in cases of sexual crimes against children, which have surged by 53.2 per cent over the past four years. Deputy Prime Minister and National Social Council (MSN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said it will involve the Home Ministry, Royal Malaysia Police, Youth and Sports Ministry, and Women, Family and Community Development Ministry to tackle the issue comprehensively, firmly and effectively. 'Statistics show that cases of sexual crimes against children rose from 2,541 in 2020 to 3,892 in 2024. 'The number of victims also increased from 2,561 to 3,988 over the same period, a jump of 55.7 per cent,' he said in a statement after chairing the MSN Meeting No. 2/2025 here today. Ahmad Zahid said technological advancements and the industrial revolution have led to increasingly sophisticated criminal modus operandi, including the use of deepfake technology and digital identity theft. Other planned measures include organising the 'Child Protection: Addressing Cyber Threats and Sexual Crimes' seminar in November. The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the National Social Policy 2030 and the development of the 2026-2030 Action Plan, which is in its final phase and will be presented to the Cabinet in October. Ahmad Zahid said the issue of homeless individuals with mental disorders who have not received treatment due to the lack of special placement facilities was also raised. 'The council supports the Health Ministry's initiative to set up a task force to establish a psychiatric nursing care home,' he said. The meeting also discussed the proposed formation of a special committee on Islamic preschool education to coordinate matters related to registration, safety, health, as well as curriculum and teaching staff strategies. In addition, the meeting examined the issue of skills mismatch among graduates, with Department of Statistics data showing that 2.06 million graduates are currently working in sectors not commensurate with their qualifications. 'To address this strategically, the MyMAHIR initiative, led by the Human Resource Ministry and TalentCorp, has been launched. 'To date, 66 industry-driven training programmes have been approved under the MyMAHIR Future Skills Talent Council, covering high-impact sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data analytics and the green economy. 'These programmes not only provide high-skilled training but also come with job guarantees, offering an average starting salary of RM3,000 to RM6,000 per month,' he said. Ahmad Zahid said that starting this year, MSN membership has been expanded to include the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry, Agriculture and Food Security Ministry, Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry, Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry, and the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) to strengthen policy implementation impact. — Bernama

MCMC probes online sale of uncertified communication devices
PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is investigating a company suspected of selling uncertified communication devices online. The probe follows a joint operation with the Royal Malaysia Police under Op Taring Bravo 3, involving multiple enforcement agencies. Authorities seized 3,837 units of various devices, including wireless gaming consoles, remote controls, smart devices, and tablets, estimated at RM500,000. These items were handed to MCMC for technical analysis. 'These devices are believed to have been marketed without valid technical certification from MCMC,' the commission stated. The case falls under Regulation 16 of the Communications and Multimedia (Technical Standards) Regulations 2000. Penalties include fines up to RM300,000, imprisonment of up to three years, or both. MCMC reiterated its commitment to enforcing regulations to protect consumers and ensure market integrity.
