Azzedine Ounahi Set for Girona Move
Azzedine Ounahi is on the verge of joining Girona in a permanent move from Olympique de Marseille. The Moroccan international has agreed terms with the Spanish side, with only Marseille's final approval pending. The 25-year-old caught Girona's attention after an impressive loan spell at Panathinaikos, where he scored five goals and registered seven assists in 37 appearances. He was voted the Greek club's Player of the Season and earned a spot in the league's Team of the Year. Girona, preparing for Champions League football, submitted an €8 million offer – matching Marseille's initial valuation after the French club briefly raised their asking price to €12 million. Ounahi, who rose to prominence during Morocco's run to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals, had joined Marseille in January 2023 from Angers. However, his time in Ligue 1 was disrupted by injuries and inconsistency. Marseille have already left him out of their pre-season squad, along with three other African players: Cameroon duo Faris Moumbagna and Simon Ngapandouetnbu, and Ivorian player Bamo Meïté. Ounahi, who rose through the ranks of Morocco's Mohammed VI Academy, is now set to relaunch his career in La Liga. Tags: Azzedine OunahiFC BarcelonaGirona

Azzedine Ounahi refuses all proposals to leave Marseille
According to a report from L'Équipe, Olympique de Marseille have been left frustrated in their efforts to sell Azzedine Ounahi (25) this summer. The Moroccan international who first arrived in La Provence in 2023 from Angers SCO is being pushed towards the exit door. Marseille have placed a €12m valuation on the midfielder, who has a contract lasting until 2027. In June, Marseille's valuation was matched by Spartak Moscow. However, Ounahi was reluctant to join the Russian club and vetoed the transfer. L'Équipe writes that the midfielder has currently rejected all the proposals that have been put forward to him. Advertisement Ounahi has been linked with a return to Panathinaikos in Greece, where he had a successful season on loan and has become a firm fan favourite at the club, while he is also attracting interest from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, who are long-term admirers of the player. Ounahi Dropped to Reserves as Marseille Exit Looms
Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi looks set to leave Marseille this summer after being left out of Roberto De Zerbi's first-team plans. The 24-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Panathinaikos, is among six players excluded from first-team plans as the Ligue 1 side reshapes its squad for the 2025–26 campaign. Ounahi impressed in Greece with five goals and seven assists, and Panathinaikos are keen to re-sign him. They've increased their offer to €9m, but Marseille are holding out for €12m. Russian side Spartak Moscow had reportedly matched that asking price and offered a generous salary, but Ounahi turned it down, citing concerns over the conflict in Ukraine and Russia's ban from European competitions. The Moroccan international, who joined Marseille in January 2023 after a standout World Cup, is under contract until 2027. However, with no role in De Zerbi's plans, a summer move appears likely. Others training with the reserves include Rubén Blanco, Ismaël Koné, Simon Ngapandouetnbu, Bamo Meïté and François Mughe. The club is expected to facilitate exits for all six players during the current transfer window. Tags: Benatialigue 1marseilleOunahiPanathinaikos

Six Marseille players to train away from first-team
Olympique de Marseille's list of undesirables is looking a little more defined. As per a report from Foot Mercato, six first-team players will train with the Pro 2 side, away from the first team, upon their return for pre-season training. The six players in question are Bamo Meïté, Azzedine Ounahi, Faris Moumbagna, Ruben Blanco, Simon Ngapandouetnbu, and Ismaël Koné. Meïté, Ounahi, and Koné spent either all or part of last season out on loan away from Marseille. Whilst all have now returned to their parent club, they are not expected to stay at the Commanderie, or that is the club's desire, at least. Moumbagna, meanwhile, missed the vast majority of OM's campaign with a serious knee injury. Advertisement However, whilst training with the Pro 2 side will allow the players to get up to speed in the pre-season, it is a clear sign that their futures lie elsewhere. The decision for the aforementioned players to train away from the first team has already been communicated individually to all players concerned. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Ounahi Hesitates to Join Spartak Moscow Move Despite €12 Million Deal
Tangier — Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi has shown little enthusiasm for a potential transfer from Olympique de Marseille to Russian club Spartak Moscow. Despite Olympique de Marseille reportedly having accepted the Russian club's offer, the Moroccan midfielder remains cautious about the move as he weighs his options ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Marseille has placed Ounahi on the transfer market after deciding not to reintegrate him into their squad for next season. The 24-year-old will return to France on July 1 following a successful loan spell in Greece, where he scored five goals and provided four assists in 25 matches. However, Ounahi's playing time at Marseille remains uncertain, prompting the club to seek a suitable destination for the player. Spartak Moscow has emerged as a serious suitor for Ounahi's services, submitting an offer worth approximately €12 million, which Marseille quickly accepted. The Russian club wants to strengthen its midfield and has received permission to negotiate directly with the player, hoping to finalize the deal before the transfer window closes. Despite the financial agreement between the clubs, media reports indicated that Ounahi appears reluctant to commit to the Russian project. The timing of the potential transfer creates additional complications for Ounahi. Morocco will host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and the midfielder wants to secure his place in the national team squad. Moving to the Russian league could make it more difficult for him to catch the attention of Morocco's coaching staff, particularly as he would be playing far from the traditional scouting networks that monitor North African players. Ounahi faces a challenging decision between financial security and sporting ambition. While Spartak Moscow offers a substantial salary and the chance to compete in a competitive league, the midfielder seeks a project that aligns better with his international aspirations. Marseille now waits for Ounahi to make his final decision. The French club has made its position clear by accepting Spartak's offer, but it cannot force its player to agree to the transfer as he prioritizes finding the right sporting environment over simply changing clubs for financial reasons.
