Former Minister and Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy flayed former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of playing the victim card by alleging harassment by the present government. Coming down heavily on the erstwhile YSRCP regime, he said the 'past rulers' demonstrated on how commit crime without getting caught. 'After resorting to multiple scams and money laundering, Jagan Mohan Reddy is now playing the victim card and crying harrassment.' Mr. Reddy formally adopted some families at Vedayapalem in his constituency on Saturday under 'Bangaru Kutumbalu' of the much-touted P4 concept and offered them utensils, essential commodities, books and clothes. He also promised to extend support for the higher education of the wards of the beneficiaries.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said though he took up several programmes, the Zero Poverty P4 programme is close to his heart. He hosted dinner to 'Margadarshulu' came forward to extend support to the poor as part of the P4 programme at his camp office on Friday. He shared his views and targets with regard to the P4 programme, and also elicited the opinions of Margadarshulu. Asserting that poverty can be eradicated with the rich in the society supporting the poor, Naidu said his intention is to see 15 lakh 'Bangaru Kutumbalu' adopted by 'Margadarshulu' by August 15, 2025. He appealed to the rich, corporate institutions, industrialist and voluntary organisations to come forward for making the innovative programme a success. He recalled that right from BR Ambedkar to Abdul Kalam, several persons rose to higher positions because of the help they got from others in life. 'I have been in politics for 47 years. After becoming the Chief Minister, I initiated the second phase of reforms. I gave top priority to the IT sector and highest importance to education. These measures have yielded remarkable results,' he said. Naidu emphasised that Telugu people progressed in every field due to these reforms. 'My aim is to eradicate poverty in the State by 2029. My goal is always uplift the poor,' he said.

Kurnool: DistrictCollector P Ranjit Basha has directed officials to intensify efforts to eliminate plastic pollution as part of the 'Swachh Andhra – Swarna Andhra' campaign scheduled on July 19, which will be conducted with the theme of eradicating plastic waste. He instructed all departments to reduce the use of single-use plastics and raise awareness among the public about the environmental damage caused by plastic, including air and water pollution. During a video-conference with divisional and mandal-level officers on Friday, he emphasised strengthening door-to-door garbage collection, repairing or replacing tricycles for waste collection and ensuring comprehensive sanitation in all areas. The Collector reviewed several key initiatives, including P4 policy implementation, ‚Talliki Vandanam', housing schemes, employment guarantee programmes, and adoption of 'Bangaru Kutumbalu' (golden families) under the Swarna Andhra mission. He stressed the importance of identifying eligible Bangaru families, assigning mentors to guide them, and completing household surveys to assess their needs from July 21 to August 5. All pending adoptions must be completed by July 31. Collector Basha specifically urged officials to finalise the adoption process in all mandals and ensure timely support for these families. Addressing housing targets, the Collector stated that of the 11,706 houses planned, 7,964 have been completed, with 3,742 still pending. He called for focused attention from divisional officials in Adoni, Pattikonda and Kurnool to speed up construction. Notices will be served to contractors delaying work under Option 3. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace in Yemmiganur mandal and directed that show-cause notices be issued to negligent engineers. In sub-divisions like Mantralayam, Alur, and Pattikonda, he instructed the Housing PD to seek explanations from officers lagging in progress. On the 'Talliki Vandhanam' grievance redressal, the Collector noted that many complaints pertain to land ownership, false asset declarations, and high electricity bills. He directed tahsildars in Kurnool Urban, Rural, and Kallur to clear all 700 pending land-related applications within three days. For grievances related to four-wheeler eligibility (301 pending) and income tax, prompt action was also ordered. Highlighting the monsoon season, he called for a boost in horticulture plantations under the employment guarantee scheme and completion of pending farm ponds. In response to negative IVRS feedback from sanitation drives in Dooddi (Kosigi mandal) and Beldona (Chippagiri mandal), action was sought against the respective panchayat secretaries. Officials present in the video-conference included DRO C Venkatanarayanamma, CPO Hima Prabhakar Raju, ZP CEO Nasar Reddy, Housing PD Chiranjeevi, DWAMA PD Venkataramanayya and DEO Samuel Paul.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Secretary K Vijayanand revealed that appropriate steps are being taken to make all government offices in the State plastic-free. He held a video conference with Collectors and officials of related departments from the Secretariat on Thursday, discussing issues such as Swarnandhra P-4 Foundation, Swarnandhra, Swachhandra, MSME parks, and Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana. Speaking on the occasion, the CS said that steps are being taken to control single-use plastic items in a phased manner. By next October, 17 municipal corporations will be declared plastic-free. He added that steps will be taken to ban plastic items in all government offices across the State. Vijayanand said that the government has launched the Swarnandhra P-4 Foundation programme with the noble goal of eradicating poverty and eliminating economic inequalities in society. The government has set a target of adopting 15 lakh Bangaru Kutumbalu in the State by August 15 under this initiative. He instructed Collectors to pay special attention to the successful implementation of Swarnandhra P-4. He also mentioned that 1,027 villages have been selected under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, of which 765 villages have already been declared model villages under the Village Development Plan (VDP). Regarding MSME Parks, Vijayanand said it is a Centrally sponsored scheme implemented with World Bank financial assistance. He directed Collectors to take appropriate steps in its implementation.

Nellore: District Collector O Anand has called upon the people to join as partners in P-4 programme with an objective to eradicate poverty in the district. The Collector has inaugurated a one-day workshop on.P-4 concept at Tikkana Pranganam on the premises of the Collectorate here on Thursday. Stating that P-4 was a voluntary concept, he said that it would provide an opportunity to the local philanthropists and financially well-settled sections in the society to voluntarily join the programme and ensure its success. He said that in view of propagating the programme, the administration has set up a call center with the number 1800-425-1999 for clarification of doubts over P-4. The Collector urged the officials who participated in the workshop to utilise the opportunity as it is meant to motivate the people towards skill development and various business opportunities. He said that it will be mandatory to receive feedback from the local public representatives and MLAs in the selection of Bangaru Kutumbalu. Voluntary organisations should be involved to ensure success of the P-4 programme. Atmakur RDO Pavani, Planning department in-charge officer Lakshmi Narasimhulu and others were present.
