This speedy veteran WR is making waves during first week of Chiefs Training Camp

The Kansas City Chiefs will likely be without star wide receiver Rashee Rice for part of their 2025 campaign, and with training camp underway, the team is assessing its options at the position. Among the most exciting wideouts competing for a spot on the Chiefs' 53-man roster in St. Joseph is veteran pass-catcher Tyquan Thornton. A former Baylor Bear, Thornton's blazing speed enticed the New England Patriots to select him with the No. 50 pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft. Thornton has started making waves at training camp practices and was seen hauling in a pass from Patrick Mahomes on Thursday, July 24, in this video, which was posted to Twitter by Harold R. Kuntz of FOX4 News: While Thornton is expected to face headwinds in his effort to earn a role in Andy Reid's first or second-team offense, impressive plays like this will ingratiate him with Mahomes and Kansas City's coaching staff. Stay tuned to see if Thornton will continue to impress at Chiefs Training Camp in the coming weeks.

Texas A&M picks up commitment from a former Big 12 All-Second team selection

Welcome to Aggieland, @wesley_jordan12 👍In 2025, Jordan hit .306 with 10 homers, 41 RBI and 18 doubles in 50 games ⚾️#GigEm Texas A&M has strengthened its outfield with one of the top remaining hitters in the Big 12 transfer portal. On Thursday afternoon, former Baylor Bear Wesley Jordan announced via social media that he will be transferring to the Aggies. Jordan is a strong candidate for the designated hitter role and also offers depth in the outfield. In 2024, he played 40 games and made 37 starts—20 at DH and 17 in left field—earning All-Big 12 Second Team honors. With fan favorite Hayden Schott out of eligibility and an open outfield spot available, Jordan will have a chance to compete for an everyday starting role. Although his batting average dipped slightly from .331 to .308 last season, his career slash line remains impressive at .317/.421/.591 with 104 hits, 19 home runs, and 73 RBIs. Following a 2025 MLB Draft that significantly thinned the program's incoming depth, Jordan's veteran presence will be a welcome addition in Aggieland. MIAMI, FL (FOX 44) — Former Baylor Bear Davion Mitchell is on the move once again after the Toronto Raptors dealt Mitchell to the Miami Heat for PJ Tucker, a second-round pick and cash before the trade deadline ended on Thursday. Mitchell landed with the Raptors after the Kings traded him this past offseason for Jalen McDaniels. Mitchell averaged 6.3 points per game in 24.5 minutes per game during the half season in Toronto. This will be Mitchell's third team since getting drafted to Sacramento in 2021. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
