Man allegedly robs Capital One Bank for $34: NYPD

SUNNYSIDE, Queens (PIX11) — Police are searching for a man accused of robbing $34 from a Capital One Bank in Queens on July 17. The incident happened around 3:28 p.m. at the Capital One Bank at 40-20 Queens Boulevard. More Local News Police say the suspect entered the bank and passed a note to the teller, demanding money. The teller gave the individual $37, and he left, heading east on Queens Boulevard. The suspect is described as a man around 5'11' and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, dark-colored pants, brown shoes, and sunglasses. The NYPD released the following photos of the man. No one was injured during the incident. You may be eligible for a payment from an $8.9 million class action settlement due to claims that the company improperly advertised its soda products as 'gut healthy.' More Local News Consumers who purchased any flavor or package size of Poppi beverages between Jan. 23, 2020, and July 18, 2025, can be eligible. Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim the advertising was not supported by scientific evidence. Despite the settlement, the company has admitted no wrongdoing. Consumers can receive a cash payment based on the number of products purchased. Customers with proof of purchase can receive the following: Up to $0.75 per single can $3 per four-pack $6 per eight-pack $9 per 12- or 15-pack There is a $16 cap without proof of purchase. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, and Newark Liberty International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Ground stops were issued at all three airports due to thunderstorms, according to the FAA. More Local News Some arriving flights are seeing delays of over three hours, while departures are experiencing delays of over two hours, according to the FAA's website. As of Monday evening, some departing flights from Newark have been delayed since approximately 1:30 p.m., according to Flight Tracker. Due to inclement weather, New York City and parts of New Jersey are also under a flood watch, according to the National Weather Service. State of Emergency declared in New Jersey due to severe weather: Gov. Murphy

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) — Due to high levels of rainfall and flash flooding in parts of New Jersey on Monday evening, Gov. Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency. During a State of Emergency, the Governor is authorized to speed State agency assistance to communities in need and allows him to make resources immediately available to rescue, evacuate, shelter, and provide essential commodities in affected localities. More Local News Gov. Murphy is urging residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. 'I have declared a State of Emergency out of an abundance of caution due to flash flooding and severe thunderstorms across the state,' said Gov. Murphy. 'I urge New Jerseyans to exercise caution, follow all safety protocols, and remain off the roads unless absolutely necessary.' Numerous reports of roads being impassable due to the tremendous downpours are being reported. Rivers and streams like the Passaic River have begun to overflow as well. A Flood Warning for the Passaic will continue until Tuesday morning. Officials warn drivers to turn around if they encounter flooding. The severe weather has impacted travel, notably at airports in the tri-state area. NEW YORK (PIX11) — A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for New York City until 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The highest chance of severe weather is between 6 and 9 p.m. More Local News Officials warn of the possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms with damaging winds of up to 70 mph. There could be heavy rain in some spots. The storms could cause power outages. New York City is also under a flood watch until 2 a.m. Wednesday. 'Some spots may see even more. Flash flooding is possible, especially in low-lying neighborhoods or areas with poor drainage,' said Zachary Iscol, commissioner of Emergency Management.
