Bengaluru autorickshaw driver alleges assault over ‘Jai Shri Ram' slogan, police say motive yet to be confirmed
A 28-year-old autorickshaw driver, Waseem Ahmed, was allegedly attacked by a group of men in Bengaluru's Hegde Nagar on Saturday evening, leaving him with serious injuries, reported The Indian Express. While the victim claims he was assaulted for refusing to chant "Jai Shri Ram", police told the publication that motive behind the attack is still under investigation and not conclusively linked to any religious provocation. Ahmed claimed that a group of six to eight men, allegedly intoxicated, confronted them and demanded that he chant a religious slogan. When he refused, they allegedly attacked him, while his friend managed to escape. Ahmed suffered multiple injuries, including suspected internal damage and partial hearing loss in his right ear, and was treated at Yelahanka General Hospital, where a medico-legal case was registered. Statements have been recorded from two to three people present near the site, including a watchman, none of whom supported the religious motive claim. However, police have not ruled out any angle and are continuing to examine all available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital material. The Sampigehalli police have registered a case and launched a search for the suspects, who are believed to be local residents. No arrests have been made yet. The case has drawn attention on social media, with calls for a fair and thorough probe. Police have assured that appropriate action will be taken based on facts that emerge from the ongoing investigation.

Acting on the information, 11 special police teams were mobilized to conduct checks in areas falling under the Upparpet, Cottonpet, Kalasipalya, Cubbon Park, and Ashoknagar police station limits. Multiple violations found at 19 establishments During the operation, 19 establishments were found flouting various rules. One of the most alarming violations involved the illegal employment of women staff, who were allegedly dressed provocatively and engaging with customers inappropriately. Bengaluru: In a late-night special operation conducted by the Bengaluru Police, 19 bars and restuarants were found violating COPTA regulations and illegally employing female servers and engaging in 'unlawful' activities, officials said on Friday. The raids were carried out on Thursday night after Bengaluru Police Commissioner, Seemanth Kumar Singh, received credible information that several bars and restaurants in the West zone of the city were illegally employing female servers and engaging in unlawful activities, they said. Based on the information, 11 special police teams were formed in the West zone. A special raid was conducted on bars and restaurants falling under the jurisdictions of Upparpet, Cottonpet, Kalasipalya, Cubbon Park and Ashoknagar Police Stations, police said.

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Police have raided 17 bars across the city on charges of illegally employing female servers and engaging in unlawful activities. The bars were also conducting overtime operations and obscene dances, violating the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA). A statement released in this regard by the office of the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner on Friday stated that 11 special teams had conducted raids and found violations of guidelines. The Bengaluru City Police Commissioner received credible information that several bars and restaurants in the West zone of the city were illegally employing female servers and engaging in unlawful activities. Based on this information, 11 special police teams were formed in the West zone. "A special raid was conducted on bars and restaurants falling under the jurisdictions of Upparpet, Cottonpet, Kalasipalya, Cubbon Park and Ashoknagar Police Stations,' the statement said. During the raid, it was found that 19 bars and restaurants were violating regulations by employing female workers who were provocatively dressed and standing near customers' tables in an indecent manner. Further violations included the absence of appointed female security guards, lack of cleanliness in kitchen areas, not designating or maintaining a proper smoking zone and operating beyond permitted hours, the statement said. Customers who violated the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) regulations were fined on the spot. Reports have been submitted to the respective police stations for further legal action against the owners of the bars and restaurants, according to the statement. Another significant finding was that violations were not limited to police regulations but also extended to health and excise departments. These findings have been communicated to the concerned departments, requesting appropriate action. Strict monitoring will continue for these commercial establishments in the coming days. If found violating regulations again, their licences will be cancelled, the statement said. "If the public faces any inconvenience or notices any such violations, they are encouraged to call the helpline number. The identity of informants will be kept confidential,' Bengaluru Police said in the statement. This special raid operation was conducted under the guidance of C. Vamsi Krishna, Joint Commissioner of Police, West Zone, and under the leadership of S. Girish, Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Division, with the involvement of officers and staff from the Central and West Divisions as part of the 11 special police teams.

Bengaluru Doctor Threatens To 'Crash' Air India Express Plane Over Bag Space
A 36-year-old female doctor was taken into custody by Bengaluru Police after she allegedly misbehaved with cabin crew aboard an Air India Express flight and even threatened to crash the aircraft, earlier this week. The incident took place minutes before flight IX2749 was scheduled to take off for Surat International Airport from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), at around 2.30 pm, on Tuesday. According to sources, the female passenger, Vyas Hiral Mohanbhai, left her baggage in the first row of the aircraft before occupying her seat at 20F. When the cabin crew objected to her bag's placement and asked her to keep it in the overhead compartment near her seat, she refused. She, instead, demanded that the crew move her bag to her seat, the sources said. Despite repeated requests by the crew and the pilot's intervention, Ms Mohanbhai refused to comply and allegedly began misbehaving. The sources said she also shouted at fellow passengers who tried to reason with her. The situation escalated when she allegedly threatened to "crash the flight". The pilot and the crew alerted the security and CISF personnel, who subsequently removed her from the aircraft. The woman's behaviour threatened the safety of the remaining passengers, the sources said. The doctor is a resident of Shivanahalli, near Yelahanka, in Bengaluru. According to The Times of India, Ms Mohanbhai also abused and manhandled police officers at KIA police station. Her husband reportedly told police that she has stopped practicing medicine. The woman has been booked under sections 351 (4) (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication) and 353 (1)(b) (statements of public mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita as well as section 3(1)(a) (act of violence against a person on board an aircraft in flight which is likely to endanger the safety of such aircraft) of the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil Aviation Act, the Indian Express reported.
