CVN memorial lectures organised
Vijayawada: The Bezawada Bar Association organised the CVN memorial lectures here on Tuesday to commemorate the death anniversary of the esteemed Senior Advocate, the late CV Nageswara Rao of Polavaram. Bar Association president AK Basha presided over the meeting. Second Additional District Judge A Satyanand, and 12th Additional District Judge M Sunil were Chief Guests. Principal of Siddhartha Law College Ch Divakar Babu delivered the guest lecture on the crucial topic of 'Fundamental Rights – Role of Advocate and Protection of Advocates.' During the programme, Padmaja, Senior Advocate and daughter of the late CV Nageswara Rao, shared poignant details of her father's extraordinary life. She highlighted his immense philanthropy, wherein he donated 500 acres of ancestral land in Polavaram village for the benefit of its residents. Despite being a renowned senior advocate, he tragically passed away during the COVID19 pandemic without even owning a house. Second Additional District Judge A Satyanand and 12th Additional District Judge M Sunil commended Padmaja for continuing her father's remarkable legacy. Several prominent legal figures addressed the gathering, including Chalasani Ajay Kumar, Bathula Malleswara Rao, and Sunkara Rajendra Prasad, all members of the AP Bar Council. They were joined by ASS Ramprasad, civil rights leader and senior advocate, Dittakavi Ramachandra, senior advocate. The CVN Memorial also honoured CV Nageswara Rao's disciples, including Kanakayya, Joint Secretary Varaha Lakshmi, and Women's Secretary K Anuradha.

Bar body meets Naidu,seeks DRT court in Vij
Vijayawada: Members of the Bezawada Bar Association (BBA) urged Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to expedite steps to establish the Debts Recovery Tribunal (DRT) court at Vijayawada, which was sanctioned by the ministry of finance. They said that the establishment of the DRT court in Vijayawada will cater to the needs of banks and litigant people of Prakasam, Nellore, Guntur, Krishna, NTR, East and West Godavari districts. The BBA members, led by president AK Basha under the auspices of TDP state spokesperson Gottipati Ramakrishna Prasad, met CM Naidu and submitted a representation in this regard on Thursday. On the occasion, the BBA members also urged the chief minister to provide a health insurance coverage scheme to advocates in Andhra Pradesh and provide pucca houses to advocates hailing from disadvantaged backgrounds. Further, they urged the CM to take steps for the constitution of a separate sessions division for NTR district under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhitha (BNSS). BBA secretary Kanisetti Venkata Ranga Rao, vice-president P Srinivasa Rao, and others were present. Awareness programmes mark ‘World No Tobacco Day'
NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha has asked the people to keep away from tobacco products and maintain good health. People addicted to smoking and chewing tobacco products are vulnerable to cancer, lung infection and other respiratory diseases, Mr. Lakshmisha said and asked the patients to undergo counselling. The Collector, along with District Revenue Officer M. Lakshmi Narasimham, District Medical and Health Officer Dr. M. Suhasini and NGO representatives released posters on 'World No Tobacco Day' on Saturday. The Collector administered a pledge against using tobacco to participants and asked the youth to enlighten the people on the ill-effects of using tobacco products. The government is conducting awareness programmes against smoking and chewing gutkha and other tobacco products in colleges, he said. Signature campaign At a separate programme, the members of Bezawada Bar Association (BBA), in association with an NGO, Nava Jeevan Bala Bhavan, organised a signature campaign against the use of tobacco at the court complex, said BBA president A.K. Red Cross donates water purification plant to Vijayawada Court complex
Vijayawada: Keeping in view the hardships being faced by thousands of people, who visit Vijayawada Court complex, for pure and safe drinking water every day, Indian Red Cross Society, AP State branch on Saturday donated a 1000 litre per hour capacity water purification plant. The cost of this plant is Rs 4 lakh. Principal District Judge Guttala Gopi inaugurated the purification plant and thanked Red Cross Society for helping thousands of clients, people, police and court staff by providing safe and pure drinking water. He advised everyone to inculcate the habit of giving a part of their time and money for the society. YD Rama Rao, Chairman, AP Red Cross, has explained the activities of Red Cross and different projects being undertaken in the State to alleviate the sufferings of people in need and emergencies. He has highlighted that Red Cross Blood Centers in the State are providing 1.10 lakh units of blood every year. AK Basha, Bezawada Bar Association president, explained the historical achievements of the Bezawada Bar Association and their services to the poor and underprivileged by providing free legal services. BVS Kumar, State Coordinator of Blood Banks and Projects of AP Red Cross has thanked the Bar Association for giving access to the general public, nearby schools and Bala Sadan to fetch the safe and purified water. BBA demands 10k stipend for junior advocates
Vijayawada: Bezawada Bar Association (BBA) president AK Basha urged state govt to immediately allocate funds for the Nyaya Mithra scheme and provide 10,000 financial assistance to junior advocates, as promised in the party's election manifesto. Addressing media persons at his chamber in the BBA office on Thursday, BBA and Krishna District Bar Federation president AK Basha expressed gratitude on behalf of the advocates' fraternity to the secretary of the law department for amending the law Nestham scheme into the Nyaya Mithra scheme, for which orders were issued on Thursday. Basha said that although the State had promised during the elections to provide 10,000 as a stipend, which is 5,000 more that the previous stipend given under the Nestham scheme, recent govt mentioned only 5,000 as stipend. He stated that this contradicted the election promise made to junior advocates. In this regard, the BBA president demanded that govt immediately amend the govt order and extend 10,000 stipend, as promised in the manifesto. He also urged govt to promptly implement the Advocates Protection Act .
