Maruti Suzuki confirms launch date of its first electric SUV, the e Vitara

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed the launch date of its maiden electric SUV, the e Vitara. The e Vitara was first showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo, back in January, 2025. Maruti Suzuki will launch the e Vitara on September 3. The e Vitara will taken on the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata MG Windsor, MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE 6. advertisementThe e Vitara measures 4,275mm in length, with a wheelbase of 2,700mm, a height of 1,640mm, and a width of 1, e Vitara electric SUV features a 3-in-1 powertrain setup that combines the motor, inverter, and transmission into a single unit. It is offered with two battery choices, each paired with different drivetrain configurations. The 49kWh battery drives a front-mounted electric motor that produces 144hp and 189Nm of torque. On the other hand, the 61kWh battery powers a front motor generating 174hp with the same 189Nm torque output. For those seeking enhanced performance, the larger 61kWh battery will likely be available with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) option. This variant adds a 65hp rear motor, resulting in a combined power output of 184hp and 300Nm of torque. Although Maruti hasn't disclosed official range figures yet, the larger battery is expected to offer a driving range of over support e Vitara customers, Maruti will provide smart home chargers and assist with installation. In the first 2–3 years, fast-charging infrastructure will be deployed across India's top 100 cities, with plans for charging stations every 5–10km. Wireless connectivity and a Harman audio system further elevate the in-car the comfort front, the SUV includes ventilated front seats and a 10-way electrically adjustable driver's seat. Rear seat passengers enjoy a 40:20:40 split seat with reclining and sliding options, easy boot access, and a centre armrest with a cupholder for added over 50% of the e Vitara's body is constructed using high-tensile steel and reinforced with an advanced battery protection system. The prices for the Majestor are expected to begin at ₹45 lakh, ex-showroom. The MG Majestor is the upcoming internal combustion engine flagship offering from JSW MG Motor India. The SUV was first showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo. Now though, the seven seater SUV was spotted undisguised being tested on Indian roads. The MG Majestor will sit above the MG Gloster. MG Majestor is based on the maxus D90 SUV that is on sale in a few global markets. It has a huge front grille in the front that is finished in gloss black. There is a split-headlamp design where the LED Daytime Running Lamp is positioned above and the main headlamp cluster sits vertically in the bumper. On the sides, there are 19-inch alloy wheels with a diamond-cut finish. Other notable design elements are dual exhaust tips, connected tail lamps with wraparound design and chunky skid plates. But it is expected to use the same engine as the Gloster. So, it will be a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel that produces 158.7 bhp and 373.5 Nm maximum torque. There is also a twin-turbo diesel engine that produces 212.5 bhp and 478.5 Nm of maximum torque. The gearbox on duty is an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The power can be transferred to the rear wheels or all wheels using a 4x4 system. MG Majestor: Features As expected with any other JSW MG Motor India vehicle, the Majestor comes loaded with features. It gets a free-standing 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, a new all-digital instrument cluster for the driver that shows all the information and gets customization modes. MG Majestor: Price and rivals MG Majestor is expected to draw a premium over the Gloster given its design changes over the latter. The prices for the Majestor are expected to begin at ₹ 45 lakh, ex-showroom. Upon launch, the new seven seater will rival the Toyota Fortuner Legender and the NissanX-Trail.
