
Maruti Suzuki confirms launch date of its first electric SUV, the e Vitara
For those seeking enhanced performance, the larger 61kWh battery will likely be available with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) option. This variant adds a 65hp rear motor, resulting in a combined power output of 184hp and 300Nm of torque. Although Maruti hasn't disclosed official range figures yet, the larger battery is expected to offer a driving range of over 500km.To support e Vitara customers, Maruti will provide smart home chargers and assist with installation. In the first 2–3 years, fast-charging infrastructure will be deployed across India's top 100 cities, with plans for charging stations every 5–10km. Additionally, Maruti aims to set up 1,500 EV-ready service centres in more than 1,000 cities.Inside, the e Vitara boasts a digital cockpit with a twin-deck floating console, a uniquely designed steering wheel, a fixed-glass sunroof, and premium dual-tone soft-touch materials complemented by multi-colour ambient lighting. Tech highlights include a 25.65 cm (10.1-inch) digital touchscreen and a 26.04 cm (10.25-inch) multi-information display, offering intuitive control access. Wireless connectivity and a Harman audio system further elevate the in-car experience.On the comfort front, the SUV includes ventilated front seats and a 10-way electrically adjustable driver's seat. Rear seat passengers enjoy a 40:20:40 split seat with reclining and sliding options, easy boot access, and a centre armrest with a cupholder for added convenience.Structurally, over 50% of the e Vitara's body is constructed using high-tensile steel and reinforced with an advanced battery protection system. Maruti Suzuki India Limited ('Maruti Suzuki') announced that FRONX has become the fastest SUV from India to clock export of 1 lakh units. This impressive feat was achieved in just 25 months. The model is exclusively manufactured at the Company's state-of-the-art Gujarat facility. With over 96,000 vehicles exported in Q1 FY 2025-26, the Company's share in PV exports from India stood at an all-time high at 47%. Maruti Suzuki currently exports 17 models to nearly 100 countries. Top countries for export include South Africa, Japan and Saudi Arabia. Exports in FY 2024-25 The Company's export volumes in FY 2024-25 exceeded 3.3 lakh units, highest ever in any financial year. This marked a growth of 17.5% over the previous fiscal. FRONX, Jimny, Baleno, Swift and Dzire were the top exported models.

Maruti Suzuki, DPIIT join hands to boost startup innovation in auto, mobility space
Maruti Suzuki India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), which is part of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to support and foster startups in the areas of automotive production and mobility innovation. The partnership follows the path to create a stronger technology ecosystem in India's auto sector. The MoU complements the Government of India's 'Startup India' programme via which DPIIT-recognised startups would now be able to engage with Maruti Suzuki's innovation programmes. The MoU was exchanged in the presence of several key representatives from both sides, including Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Anjali Bansal, Independent Director, Maruti Suzuki and executives from Maruti Suzuki's corporate and digital enterprise teams such as Sunil Kakkar, Rahul Bharti and Dr. Tapan Sahoo. Commenting on the partnership, Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki, stated that this initiative will help support promising startups as they build innovative automotive and mobility solutions. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has hit a major milestone on the global stage. In just 25 months since its debut, the SUV has crossed the 1 lakh mark in exports, making it the fastest SUV from India to reach this figure. Built at Maruti Suzuki's manufacturing facility in Gujarat, the Fronx has been gaining traction in over 80 international markets. The export journey began in 2023, the same year it was launched in India, with the model being shipped to regions across Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. Interestingly, demand from Japan has played a significant role in pushing its overseas numbers, with over 69,000 units dispatched abroad in FY 2024-25 alone. That also made the Fronx the most exported passenger vehicle from India in that financial year. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is available with three engine choices in India. The 1.2-litre petrol engine generates 90 hp at 6 000 rpm and 113Nm of torque at 4 400rpm. There's a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that puts out 100 hp at 5,500 rpm and 148 Nm of torque. Additionally, a more eco-friendly 1.2-litre CNG option is also on offer, delivering 78 hp and 99 Nm.
