Last chance to watch award winning crime comedy with 'best actor out there' for free

Fans have just days to watch it before it's taken down BBC viewers have a limited time left to stream a highly-rated crime comedy film for free. BlacKkKlansman is currently accessible on the BBC iPlayer at no extra charge. However, it's set to be taken off the platform on July 8 as announced by the broadcaster. ‌ This means that, as of now, movie enthusiasts have less than a fortnight to take advantage of this opportunity. The film narrates the story of Ron Stallworth, an African-American detective who sets out to infiltrate his town's local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist hate group. ‌ The storyline is based on real events and the autobiography of the actual Ron Stallworth, a black police officer who managed to infiltrate a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. In the film, Stallworth is played by John David Washington, known for his roles in Tenet and The Creator and also being the son of Denzel Washington. Adam Driver portrays a fellow detective assisting Stallworth with his mission, while Topher Grace plays the role of David Duke, who was the grand master wizard of the Ku Klux Klan during that period, reports Birmingham Live. Despite its historical roots, some scenes are dramatised for impact and deviate from absolute accuracy. Nonetheless, director Spike Lee received accolades from both fans and critics for his handling of such a topic. When it first premiered in 2018, one critic described it as: "Lee's most purely entertaining film since Inside Man in 2006, BlacKkKlansman has a timeliness that taps into an imperative national conversation." Another critic agreed, noting: "Blackkklansman helps Spike Lee finally land in the Best Director field where he deserved a place years ago." ‌ Although the film did secure an Oscar for Lee, the recognition came in the Best Adapted Screenplay category rather than for directing. Reflecting on the impact of the film, one viewer observed: "An all time great movie on American history and its future. A terrific plot and acting I can't say much more then this. It is a must watch for anyone that likes films about the evils in the world. Not so much as a eye widener as much as a of a jaw dropper. Just fantastic". The central performances were also lauded by another viewer, who praised: "John David Washington is possibly the best actor out right now. His father has an aura that steals any scene and role, but John's range is phenomenal. He has the ability to make you forget who he is in the character, but love the character. He and Adam driver work so well together. Great movie." Further acclaim for the film came from another individual who commented: "BlacKkKlansman masterfully blends biting satire with powerful social commentary, delivering a gripping and thought-provoking narrative that is both entertaining and deeply resonant."

"I'd give up an Academy Award": Superfan Spike Lee says he'd trade an Oscar for a New York Knicks championship, Charles Barkley roasts with one-liner

Spike Lee. Image via: Clemens Bilan/Pool/Getty Images Hollywood legend and veteran Spike Lee has two Oscars to his credit, but he is ready to give up one for the New York Knicks' championship this year. On the night the New York Knicks faced elimination in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers, the stakes at Madison Square Garden were sky-high. Courtside, legendary filmmaker and lifelong Knicks superfan Spike Lee was back in his usual seat, rallying his team with unmatched passion. As the Knicks trailed 3-1 in the series, Lee's emotional investment reached new heights in a pre-game interview that quickly became a viral moment. New York Knicks' championship over an Oscar? Spike Lee says yes Ahead of the must-win matchup, Spike Lee joined TNT 's Inside the NBA crew to talk hoops, heartbreak, and hope. When asked by Ernie Johnson if he'd be satisfied with the Knicks simply reaching this stage of the playoffs, Lee responded with a bold declaration of fandom, 'I would give up an Academy Award. Oscar, for the Knicks to win a championship.' The comment, delivered straight-faced, stunned the panel, especially coming from a man who's built a legendary career in Hollywood. Lee, who won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for BlacKkKlansman in 2019 and received an honorary Oscar in 2016, didn't flinch. For him, a Knicks championship would be worth more than any golden statue and one of the greatest honors in cinematic brilliance. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Switch to UnionBank Rewards Card UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo That's when Charles Barkley pounced with a trademark zinger, 'Well, you're gonna keep 'em.' The studio erupted in laughter as Lee chuckled at the shot. Barkley's dry delivery landed like a punchline he'd been saving for years, and with good reason. The Knicks haven't won an NBA title since 1973. While New York has managed to make its way back to the conference finals for the first time since 2000, it's been decades since they've seriously contended for a ring. Still, if loyalty were enough to win championships, the Knicks might already have a few more banners hanging. Lee, who's been a fixture at MSG for decades, continues to ride for his team, Oscars in hand and hope in heart.

Netflix's award-winning movie hailed as incredible but viewers have just days left to watch

Netflix is set to remove a popular Oscar-winning film that has been hailed as "absolutely incredible", "fantastic" and "harrowing" by fans. The streaming giant routinely updates its catalogue, which involves adding new titles and removing existing ones. In May, several award-winning movies will be taken off the platform, including one with an impressive near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. Subscribers have until May 16 to watch BlacKkKlansman before it departs from Netflix. This title is among various others scheduled to leave on the same day, such as Mary, Queen of Scots (2018), Penguins of Madagascar: The Movie (2014), Sisters (2015), and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). BlacKkKlansman boasts a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 96%, reflecting widespread acclaim from hundreds of critics, as reported by the Express. The 2018 release tells the story of a detective who sets out to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan to expose its activities. The film features John David Washington and Adam Driver as the detectives who join forces to dismantle the notorious hate group. Upon its release, BlacKkKlansman garnered praise from audiences and critics alike, winning the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2019. It was nominated for a total of six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actor for Adam Driver's performance. Fans have lauded the film for its portrayal of the extremist faction and the specific era of US history it covers. A critic expressed: "Absolutely incredible film. Very chilling. Spike Lee sending a clear message and telling a great story. Whilst still keeping some of his infamous camera work." Additionally, another viewer was impressed, stating: "Wow! Just wow! Very fascinating film with stunning acting and that scene with the speech blew me away." Elsewhere, Netflix fans have an exciting new host of shows to look forward to coming to the streaming giant within the next few weeks. As The White Lotus has shown, vacations can be heaven or hell. In this new Netflix comedy series The Four Seasons, co-created by veteran comedian Tina Fey, the latter is explored, with the show following three couples who traditionally vacation together four times over the course of one calendar year. A remake of the 1981 movie starring Alan Alda. It boasts a stacked and star-studded cast that includes Fey and her SNL castmate Will Forte as Kate and Jack, who go on multiple trips with their longtime couple friends, played by Steve Carell and Kerri Kenney-Silver, as well as Marco Calvani and Colman Domingo. Later on in the month, Meghann Fahy is also returning to screens, once more spending time at a luxurious beach house. In Sirens, which comes to the platform on May 22, Fahy plays Devon DeWitt, a worried woman who thinks her little sister, Simone (Milly Alcock), has a creepy relationship with her new boss, an enigmatic socialite played by Julianne Moore. The dark comedy series from Molly Smith Metzler takes place over the course of one explosive weekend at Moore's character's lavish beach estate.
