Report: WWE Has Discussed Turning Top NXT Talent Heel

It seems that the babyface run for a top talent in WWE NXT could be coming to an end sooner rather than later. Last month, Blake Monroe (FKA AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May) made her WWE NXT debut to much fanfare. It appeared at the time that the company had big plans for her as a babyface. But that has seemingly changed. According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), a heel run for Blake Monroe is already being discussed in NXT. While Sapp isn't sure when the turn will take place, it was discussed to take place in the 'near future.' Monroe had successful runs as both a heel and a babyface while part of the AEW roster. Despite it seeming like WWE is unsure what to do with Monroe, there are reportedly long-term plans for her character in NXT. Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available. Top WWE Superstar May Be Turning Heel: Report

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Blake Monroe, known to AEW fans as Mariah May, has been introduced to the NXT audience with significant fanfare. However, a character change could already be in her near future. The popular newcomer debuted on the brand last month as a babyface. According to a new report, a heel run has already been discussed for her. Blake Monroe's Turn To The Dark Side? A report from Fightful Select states that a heel run for Blake Monroe has been brought up as a possibility for the near future. While there is no specific timeline for when this might happen, the report notes that there are long-term plans in place for Monroe on NXT television. A turn would be a significant shift for her current character. However, it would be a return to the persona that made her a main event star in All Elite Wrestling. A History of "The Glamour" When Blake Monroe, then Mariah May, debuted in AEW in November 2023, she was immediately established as a heel. She was introduced as the sycophantic "understudy" to the AEW Women's World Champion, "Timeless" Toni Storm. May's character was completely devoted to Storm, often interfering in her matches and mimicking her every move. The act became so popular that both women started to receive cheers from the audience. After her victory, May viciously attacked her mentor, Toni Storm, cementing her turn and establishing herself as a top heel in the division. Adopting the persona of "The Glamour," she went on to defeat Storm for the AEW Women's World Championship at the All-In pay-per-view in her home country of England, proving she could be a conniving and successful villain. Current NXT Storyline In NXT, Monroe has been presented as a fan favorite. She made her in-ring debut for the brand at a live event on June 27, defeating Laney Reid. She has since become involved in a feud with the Fatal Influence faction. This has led to a major match being set for The Great American Bash on July 12. At the event, she will team with TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace to take on NXT Women's Champion Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley. This high-profile match could be the perfect stage to plant the seeds for her eventual turn. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports

Blake Monroe, NXT's Bombshell Signing: Net Worth, Dating History, Lavish Lifestyle and More

Blake Monroe Net Worth in 2025, Dating Life and More (Image via WWE) Blake Monroe is perhaps the best women's wrestler signing for the WWE in a long time. 'The Glamour' has certainly earned her jewels inside the ring in AEW, where she famously feuded with Tony Storm and also became the AEW Women's World Champion. Moreover, she made her WWE debut on the June 3rd segment of NXT and is now set to make her televised in-ring debut in a tag team match, partnering up with Jordynne Grace to take on NXT Women's Champion Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley. But what about Monroe's personal life? Fans are pretty invested and would love to know about her net worth, relationship status, and much more. Blake Monroe's Personal Life, Net Worth in 2025 and Dating Rumors Monroe was born on August 4, 1998, in London, England. The erstwhile Mariah May made a name for herself wrestling across the UK and Japan, especially in STARDOM, where she became a fan favourite thanks to her infectious personality and steadily improving in-ring skills. Now going by the name, Blake Monroe in NXT, which is inspired by 'The Golden Age of Hollywood,' Monroe brings a magnetic screen presence that screams future star. As reported by BritWrestling, Monroe's net worth in 2025 ranges between $300,000 and $500,000, which is a healthy sum considering the former AEW Women's title holder is only 26 years old. According to The Sportster, Blake Monroe was previously linked to fellow professional wrestler Danny Duggan, though the relationship has been kept extremely private. Their last known appearance together was in a YouTube video on her channel over a year ago, and since then, there's been little to no sign of them as a couple on social media, leaving fans unsure if they are still together. During her AEW days, she was even linked with fellow star Nick Wayne. However, Monroe shut down those rumors by saying, ' She's more into attractive women who are older than her.' Coming to Monroe's love for professional wrestling, it is interesting to note that she was a fan from her childhood. Speaking with Close Up Culture, she revealed, 'Growing up with two brothers, I was a huge WWE fan, and that passion stays with me today. Throughout school, I participated in theatre and track and field, so wrestling is really a combination of the two. After finishing school, I got a job to help fund my training and started taking wrestling classes – and here we are today!' Coming to her lifestyle, Monroe was not born into wealth. In fact, before becoming a professional wrestler, she worked as a ring announcer. Her gig for Hustle Wrestling from 2018 is well documented on the internet. Apart from that, she even had a WWE tryout way back in 2019 and spent 3 days at the WWE Performance Center, but was ultimately rejected by the company. Tommy Dreamer Compares Recent WWE Signing To Joining The New York Yankees

Recently, WWE signed one of the hottest free agents in town. It was none other than former AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May. The Glamor now goes by the name Blake Monroe in NXT. Following her appearance on the Tuesday Night show, former WWE Hardcore Champion Tommy Dreamer compared her arrival on NXT to a baseball player getting signed by the New York Yankees. While speaking on the latest episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast, Tommy Dreamer shared why professional wrestlers want to sign with WWE. He also compared the signing to athletes wanting to join legendary sports teams such as the New York Yankees. Advertisement 'I think there are those … established franchises that, like in any sport — 'Oh, I want to be a Yankee.' Why? Because they're the oldest, they've been around, it's the 'Pride of the Yankees. They've always been glamorized as the 'it' team.' [H/T WrestlingINC.] Dreamer also mentioned that while both All Elite Wrestling and WWE are airing Live on National Television, professional wrestlers want to compete in a WWE ring. 'They're both on national television, but to become a global WWE superstar is what a lot of men and women aspire to be. It's the allure of what WWE can do for you for the rest of your life,' Tommy Dreamer said. [H/T WrestlingINC.] Advertisement Blake Monroe officially signed her NXT contract last night on NXT.
