Amy Macdonald to play surprise TRNSMT set today after releasing new album
The Record can reveal the 'This is the Life' singer will take to the stage at 6pm today. Chart-topper Amy Macdonald is preparing to perform an unannounced music set at TRNSMT later today. The Record can reveal the 'This is the Life' singer will take to the stage at 6pm today to perform a 40-minute set of her best-known songs as well as a couple of tracks from her brand new album. The singer, 37, is back with her sixth long player, Is This What You've Been Waiting For? which was released on Friday. Organisers have reserved the slot for Bishopbriggs-born Amy on the Hangout stage under the moniker 'Mrs Rock & Roll'. Insiders have now confirmed Amy will take up the spot. Last year, Travis drew a huge crowd when they performed in the same Hangout area Amy will perform a semi-acoustic set as part of a trio. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Revellers have been basking in the sunshine and sounds as the summer heatwave reaches fever pitch. Scotland's biggest ever music festival has coincided with soaring temperatures at Glasgow Green and across most of Scotland. The wall-to-wall sunshine has seen some music fans struggling to cope in the heat but they turned out in their thousands to give a raft of top acts including headliners Fontaines D.C, The Kooks and Inhaler all ready to receive the warmest of welcomes. Sophie MacGrain, 22, from Falkirk, media journalism graduate, said: 'We've been loads of times. I've been coming since I was 16, so quite a few years on the trot. I'm looking forward to seeing Inhaler. Tomorrow, I'll be looking to see Gracie Abrams. It's so hot. The water stations have helped a lot and we are trying to stay in the shade as much as possible. It makes it when it is a nice sunny day.' Saturday's main stage will come to a close with headliners Biffy Clyro before a full package of music entertainment brings the festival to a close.

Things to do at TRNSMT that aren't music gigs this weekend
While most festival-goers are there for the A-list music artists, there's more to TRNSMT than that. TRNSMT is almost upon us, and with it comes a roster of the world's top musicians who are set to entertain some 150,000 fans over this weekend (July 11 - July 13). But while most revellers will be descending on Glasgow Green for A-list names like 50 Cent, Biffy Clyro, Snow Patrol and Fontaines D.C., there's more to the festival than watching the gigs. In fact, there will be a variety of events, hangout areas, food vendors and stalls to be explored between seeing your favourite acts. The TRNSMT website highlights some of the non-music events available over the weekend, to ensure that if you're tired of boogying, there's still plenty of festival fun to be had. Read on for a quick summary of some of the activities taking place that won't be appearing on the main stage. Things to do at TRNSMT that aren't music gigs Bongo's Bingo The famed Bongo's Bingo is set to bring its one-of-a-kind chaos to TRNSMT this year, with a high-energy 60-minute takeover at The Hangout area. One of Glasgow's most popular bingo events, it fuses live entertainment, rave and classic bingo. Think dance-offs in the crowd, nostalgic anthems and an array of bizarre prizes. So if you're looking for an energetic change from the live music, Bongo's Bingo may be the perfect choice. But be aware that The Hangout area is for adults only, so those aged under 18 won't be able to participate. The website doesn't state exactly when the bingo event is taking place, so keep an eye out for times to be announced. NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET stall Last year's festival saw record-breaking signups to the international climate organisation known as NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET. This global community shows musicians and music lovers coming together to take climate action, and it is supported by Confidence Man, Tom Walker, Hot Wax, and many more artists. Visit the NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET stall to get a free temporary tattoo and find out more about the movement throughout the weekend. The Secret Garden Tucked away from the main stage, the Secret Garden is described by TRNSMT's website as 'your hidden oasis right in the heart of the festival'. If you'd rather chill than listen to the thumping bass and roaring fans, or if you just need a short break, this area can offer you a relaxing chill-out spot far from the madding crowd. Food vendors All that dancing can make you hungry, but luckily, TRNSMT offers a diverse selection of food. From meat-free options to classic food-truck snacks, there are several food areas dotted around the festival grounds. Click here to see a full map of the festival's food vendors for when you need to refuel. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
