Things to do at TRNSMT that aren't music gigs this weekend
TRNSMT is almost upon us, and with it comes a roster of the world's top musicians who are set to entertain some 150,000 fans over this weekend (July 11 - July 13). But while most revellers will be descending on Glasgow Green for A-list names like 50 Cent, Biffy Clyro, Snow Patrol and Fontaines D.C., there's more to the festival than watching the gigs.
In fact, there will be a variety of events, hangout areas, food vendors and stalls to be explored between seeing your favourite acts. The TRNSMT website highlights some of the non-music events available over the weekend, to ensure that if you're tired of boogying, there's still plenty of festival fun to be had.
Read on for a quick summary of some of the activities taking place that won't be appearing on the main stage.
Things to do at TRNSMT that aren't music gigs
Bongo's Bingo
The famed Bongo's Bingo is set to bring its one-of-a-kind chaos to TRNSMT this year, with a high-energy 60-minute takeover at The Hangout area.
One of Glasgow's most popular bingo events, it fuses live entertainment, rave and classic bingo.
Think dance-offs in the crowd, nostalgic anthems and an array of bizarre prizes.
So if you're looking for an energetic change from the live music, Bongo's Bingo may be the perfect choice.
But be aware that The Hangout area is for adults only, so those aged under 18 won't be able to participate.
The website doesn't state exactly when the bingo event is taking place, so keep an eye out for times to be announced.
NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET stall
Last year's festival saw record-breaking signups to the international climate organisation known as NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET.
This global community shows musicians and music lovers coming together to take climate action, and it is supported by Confidence Man, Tom Walker, Hot Wax, and many more artists.
Visit the NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET stall to get a free temporary tattoo and find out more about the movement throughout the weekend.
The Secret Garden
Tucked away from the main stage, the Secret Garden is described by TRNSMT's website as 'your hidden oasis right in the heart of the festival'.
If you'd rather chill than listen to the thumping bass and roaring fans, or if you just need a short break, this area can offer you a relaxing chill-out spot far from the madding crowd.
Food vendors
All that dancing can make you hungry, but luckily, TRNSMT offers a diverse selection of food.
From meat-free options to classic food-truck snacks, there are several food areas dotted around the festival grounds.

But a five-year absence clearly made hearts grow fonder as the headliners were welcomed to the Main Stage with a massive roar. The temperature had peaked at 29°C (84.2F) as punters soaked up the sun and brilliant sounds. And Irish rockers Fontaines DC raised political tensions by taking to the stage to a song by their compatriots Kneecap — who'd been removed from the line-up over security concerns. It's been 30 years since Biffy Clyro formed but lead singer Simon, 45, showed no signs of slowing down as he put on an energetic display. And he greeted their sun-baked fans with: 'What a lovely day to see you all in Glasgow Del Sol.' Hits such as Bubbles, Many of Horror and Space led to massive singalongs as the crowd became the band's fourth member. And they treated TRNSMT to a taste of their first new music since album The Myth of Happily Ever After was released four years ago. The Dundee rocker is enjoying a simpler life in Spain with his family, but there's no doubt fans will see hints of his former wild side on the King Tut's. SHED SEVEN KING TUT'S STAGE @8.20PM YOU can't go wrong with a bit of Britpop nostalgia. And this group are still going strong after 35 years and released two albums in 2024. With seven top 20 singles, six top 10 albums and fan-favorites like Going For Gold, Chasing Rainbows and Disco Down, fans old and young will enjoy getting to grips with such an experienced live act. Laura, from Bedale, North Yorkshire, told The Scottish Sun on Sunday: 'I had to make a special sign for the band. 'I don't think they noticed Sam popped the question at their gig. 'Hopefully they find out about it. And they'd be more than welcome as our wedding guests.' Danielle Roberts, 35, of Bishopton, Renfrewshire, drew plenty of admirers for her silver outfit. Advertisement She said: 'You have to dress to impress at TRNSMT. But the silver had to come off eventually because it was so warm.' Pal Suzanne Reddie, 42, from Greenock, added: 'Some of the outfits were incredible.' Camilla Johnson, Iona Taylor, Blythe Thorburn and Milly MacDonald, all 18, travelled from Selkirk and Melrose for The Kooks. AMY TAKEN ABACK AT SECRET SHOW AMY Macdonald shocked fans with a secret show at TRNSMT. The local hero, 37, appeared on the bill under the name Mrs Rock & Roll in the Hangout area for over-18s only. She told the crowd: 'Thanks so much. I actually can't hear myself think. For the first time ever I wasn't even able to try to sing because you guys were just singing for me.' The performance coincided with the release of her new album, Is This What You've Been Waiting For? She previously revealed the record — her sixth — was partly inspired by TRNSMT. Amy, from Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, said: 'I was a bit nervous going out because the crowd were really young and I thought to myself, gosh, some of these kids wouldn't even have been born when these songs were coming out. They're not going to enjoy this. They're not going to know anything. 'I was so taken aback by how they just knew every word and they were just having the time of their life. I was so moved I went back and I wrote Can You Hear Me?' Hollie said: 'The festival is amazing. It's well worth the travel. We can't believe how nice the weather is. 'You could not ask for better conditions for TRNSMT.' Advertisement Eilidh Cook, Chloe Meechan, Martha McClean and Rachel Ross, all 16, travelled from Kilmarnock to see Fontaines DC. Chloe said: 'It was great. The weather is scorching but we're not complaining.' During their set, Fontaines DC showed solidarity with Kneecap by starting Free Palestine chants. They also hailed Glasgow as a 'home away from home'. Advertisement A huge message then appeared on the big screen stating: 'Israel is committing genocide. Use your voice.' The Irish band also displayed a Palestine flag during their set. Norwegian singer-songwriter Sigrid, 28, had earlier given the main stage Scandinavian sparkle. The pop star, who has worked with top acts like Bring Me the Horizon and Griff, got the party started with her best-known tracks such as Don't Feel Like Crying. Advertisement Irish lads Inhaler celebrated the success of their third album Open Wide — also their third consecutive record to top the charts. Two of their biggest fans were the first through the doors after travelling to Glasgow all the way from Montreal, Canada. Arianna Lafoley, 19, and pal Sam Rinone, 20, had only just landed in Scotland when they pitched up at 7am. Sam said: 'We got in the queue at 7.30am for Inhaler. I'm a mega fan. I've been to Dublin and Manchester to see them and was so excited when I heard they were playing TRNSMT.' Advertisement Arianna added: 'We were told Scotland would probably be rainy so we can't believe this sunshine. It's such a beautiful country.'

Sigrid said she was "not feeling well" after playing the main stage of the Glasgow Green bash this afternoon. Festival-goers faced temperatures of up to 30C at Glasgow Green, made all the hotter by dancing and jumping. But despite the high temperatures, which are set to continue into Sunday, Sigrid gave TRNSMT a thumbs up. "It was really fun. It was incredibly hot. "Honestly, I gotta admit, I'm not feeling very well. "I'm okay, but I'm not used to the heat. But it was great. The crowd, was really, really lovely. "I was very impressed by how they braved the heat. This is probably one of the hottest shows we've ever done." The Strangers singer added: "It was really tough. This is one of the few shows where I've not been moving that much. "It felt a bit like I should have given more but I just wasn't able to. But it was really really fun and it was really nice to see Glasgow again." The pop star spoke as The Kooks played their set on the main stage in the background. Music video for Sigrid's hit song Don't Kill My Vibe She said the band was fundamental to her learning music from a young age. "That was my whole childhood, or my whole youth" she said as the indie band played Sofa Song. "Seaside, I remember I covered that song. "And She Moves In Her Own Way is one of the first songs I learned on guitar." She added: "The Kooks were so integral to me learning instruments." She said TRNSMT was one of her favourite festivals, adding that it was "amazing" and getting "better and better" every year. She described Scottish crowds as "amazing, and very loud, rowdy". "I feel like in Scotland people are rooting for me," she said. "Today, I honestly was wondering am I gonna faint soon. "If it's not me surely someone in the audience must faint. Earlier today, I just felt they were rooting for everyone to do well." The Norwegian artist said she went to a farm near Glasgow before the festival to try some Scottish foods. The singer said she had tried haggis before in Scotland, which she described as "weird". She had also tried Buckfast which she said was "intense". She said: "I just got handed Buckfast once when we were playing Usher Hall. It was quite nice."

The indie rocker casually walked onto the King Tut's stage to perform Simple as This which featured in his 2012 eponymous debut album. Trouble Town - which was the lead single in that same album - quickly followed. Picture by Gordon Terris.) His voice sounded incredible as he then belted out Keep On Moving. This is how guitar music should sound live, and Bugg - and his band know how to do it well. Addressing the hundreds of fans who turned out to see him, the Nottingham native said: 'How you all doing? You enjoying yourselves?' The crowd roared in reply before he responded with a simple, 'wicked'. Two Fingers then created a mass sing-a-long before he pulled out the acoustic guitar for Broken. His voice was so powerful, and it was a highlight. That Bugg tone is unmistakable, and hearing it in a live setting is just magical. The 31-year-old then teased, 'We have got a few more if you're up for it,' as he ramped up the atmosphere with Slumville Sunrise. Praising the crowd, he flattered: 'Every time I come up here, you are always amazing.' And the crowd gave him that energy right back for Lightning Bolt before he was joined by Joy to sing the electrifying All I Need. His performance should have been on the Main Stage at the festival; it was simply phenomenal.
