‘The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox' Teaser Sees Grace Van Patten Telling Amanda's Harrowing Story
The teaser trailer for The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox sees Grace Van Patten as Amanda Knox, fighting for her life. The series is based on Knox's harrowing journey to prove her innocence and regain her freedom after being wrongfully imprisoned for her roommate's murder. Knox, a Seattle native, was studying abroad in Italy at the time. After being initially convicted for murder in 2007, she was later acquitted by Italy's highest court in 2015. Sharon Horgan, John Hoogenakker, Francesco Acquaroli, Giuseppe De Domenico and Roberta Mattei round out the cast for The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. KJ Steinberg (This Is Us) created the series, which comes from 20th Television in association with The Littlefield Company. Executive producers include Warren Littlefield, Lisa Harrison, Ann Johnson and Graham Littlefield with The Littlefield Company; Monica Lewinsky with Alt Ending Productions; Amanda Knox and Chris Robinson with Knox Robinson Productions; and Michael Uppendahl, who also directs. The first two episodes of The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox premiere on Hulu Aug. 20, with new episodes dropping on Wednesdays in the following weeks. Harvey Weinstein guilty of one sexual assault count, not guilty of another in retrial
A New York City jury found disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein guilty of one count of sexual assault of former Project Runway assistant Miriam Haley, but not guilty of another count of sexual assault against former model Kaja Sokola, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The verdict was handed down Wednesday afternoon during a retrial after Weinstein's 2020 conviction was overturned in April 2024. There is still one count of rape in the third degree that the jury has not yet been able to reach a consensus about, but the jurors have been dismissed for the day and will reconvene tomorrow. The alleged rape was committed against aspiring actress Jessica Mann. Per THR, the first-degree sexual assault charges are a higher felony and carry maximum sentences of 25 years. The news comes after days of reports of tense deliberations, with The Wrap reporting earlier this week that a standstill between the jurors led some to begin bringing up and discussing other details about Weinstein's past that were not explicitly disclosed during the trial. At least one juror asked to be excused from the trial because he did not feel like it was 'fair and just.' Charges faced by Weinstein stem from incidents in 2006 and 2013. Haley and Sokola both alleged that Weinstein forced them to perform oral sex on him during separate incidents in 2006. Mann accused Weinstein of raping her during the 2013 incident, and Weinstein was found guilty of all three charges in 2020. In a separate 2022 trial, a California jury found him guilty of three counts of rape and sexual assault and was sentenced to 16 years. That conviction still stands, though Weinstein's legal team is currently appealing. More from A.V. The Forsytes just added a second season to its stateside run, and it'll bring an Outlander star with it. Richard Rankin has joined the TV adaptation of John Galsworthy's books, which was renewed for Season 2 at Masterpiece on PBS Thursday, the network announced. The 2025 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is here! And the lineup is stacked with big names in music. Luke Combs, Tyler the Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, and more will perform at the festival, held in Manchester, Tennessee. It will take place from Thursday, June 12, to Sunday, June 15. Tickets are still available, but folks staying at home will also be able to stream the musical act live, according to Bonnaroo's website.
