DeWanna Bonner's cryptic message hints at reason for Fever breakup

The post DeWanna Bonner's cryptic message hints at reason for Fever breakup appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Indiana Fever have been surrounded by controversy during the first few months of the 2025 WNBA season. There was the brawl during the Fever-Sun game a few weeks ago and now the messy departure of WNBA legend DeWanna Bonner. She followed up her initial statement with an eyebrow-raising post on social media. Advertisement Bonner recently made a cryptic post on Instagram that could hint at the reason why she forced her way out of Indiana. 'A QUITTER!! Nah never been that!!,' Bonner wrote. 'But when the time comes… 'Let's just make sure the apologies, are just as loud as the disrespect!!'' Bonner also added 'IN DUE TIME..' before ending the post. Bonner's message on social media varies significantly from the sanitized statement she made after being waived by the Fever. 'I want to sincerely thank the Indiana Fever for the opportunity to be part of the Fever franchise,' Bonner said. 'Despite our shared goals and excitement heading into the season, I felt the fit did not work out, and I appreciate the organization's willingness to grant my request to move on.' Advertisement It will be interesting to hear Bonner talk more openly about what happened with the Fever at a later date. At this point, it seems the relationship deteriorated after the Fever benched Bonner in favor of shooting guard Lexie Hull just a handful of games into the season. What comes next for WNBA legend DeWanna Bonner? Grace Smith-USA TODAY Sports Bonner now has the opportunity to potentially end her WNBA career in a different location. News reports from earlier this week indicated that Bonner ideally wanted to be traded to the Mercury or Dream. But that was before she was waived by the Fever. Bonner signed a $200,000 unprotected contract with the Fever back in February. The size of her contract likely eliminates the possibility that she will be claimed off waivers. Advertisement As a result, Bonner will have to wait 48 hours following her departure from Indiana before she can sign with a new team. Bonner could certainly land on her feet quickly. The Mercury make the most sense as a landing spot as Bonner could play with her partner, Alyssa Thomas. Indiana waived Bonner on Wednesday, so WNBA fans can expect to see Bonner join another team as early as this weekend. It will be interesting to see what comes next for Bonner. Knife-wielding car passenger threatened to stab cops

'Numerous' police vehicles arrived in response to an emergency call by the officers. Police officers 'feared for their lives' when a car passenger chased them while brandishing a hunting knife. Jordan Bonner threatened to stab the frightened cops because they'd taken the keys from the driver. ‌ They threw back the keys when he cornered them in St Andrew's Court, Blantyre. ‌ Bonner eventually fled the scene on foot after realising a police vehicle had blocked his car's exit. The 23-year-old appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week. He admitted threatening two PCs on March 27 last year. Co-accused Natalie McGlame, 36, of St Andrew's Court, walked free from court. Her not guilty pleas to charges that she reversed towards one of the PCs and rammed the police car were accepted. An allegation that McGlame and Bonner were concerned in the supply of cocaine was dropped. ‌ The court heard that police were looking for Bonner in relation to another matter. The car in which he was a passenger was followed into St Andrew's Court about 7.30pm. The officers got out of their car and approached the other vehicle, but when the first PC took the keys Bonner became aggressive. Scott O'Connor, prosecuting, said: 'He pulled out a large hunting-style knife, pointed it in the face of [the first PC] and said 'Give me the keys back or I'll kill you'. ‌ 'The two police officers retreated to the rear of the vehicle. The accused then exited and, fearing for their lives, the officers ran towards a nearby house to take cover. 'The accused chased them, brandishing the knife and threatening to stab them. 'The officers ended up cornered on the footpath. Bonner continued to demand the keys and made thrusting motions with his hand. ‌ 'Due to the threats and violence, [the first PC] decided to throw the keys on the ground. 'The accused picked them up and went back to the vehicle while the officers raised an emergency on their police radio.' Mr O'Connor said Bonner realised the car was blocked in and ordered the police officers to move their vehicle or he would 'slit your throat'. He slashed one of the tyres with his knife. ‌ The officers fled to the car park at St Andrew's Parish Church. 'Numerous' police vehicles arrived in response to the emergency call, but by this time Bonner had jumped over a fence and fled. He was traced two days later at an address in Glasgow. ‌ Bonner admitted previous convictions and defence lawyer Scott Jones conceded his behaviour towards the police had been 'reprehensible'. But he pointed out that his client had spent more than a year in jail after his arrest before being granted bail. Sheriff John Speir deferred sentence until August for background reports. Caitlin Clark's Teammate Accused Of 'Quitting' On The Fever

Caitlin Clark's Teammate Accused Of 'Quitting' On The Fever originally appeared on The Spun. As if dealing with a losing streak isn't tough enough, the Indiana Fever have a disgruntled player on their roster who refuses to suit up. Advertisement The Fever bolstered their roster in free agency by signing a plethora of experienced players, including DeWanna Bonner. The six-time All-Star was supposed to elevate Indiana's frontcourt while bringing championship pedigree to the locker room. Bonner was averaging 7.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game before sitting out for "personal reasons." It wasn't until this week that WNBA fans learned that she wants out of Indiana. Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports reported Tuesday that Bonner has "no interest" in returning to the Fever. Apparently, she got frustrated over her reduced role. "Multiple sources told Front Office Sports that the fit in Indiana was 'off' from the beginning," Costabile wrote. "Bonner—who was signed to be an anchor with championship experience for the team's young core—was expected to be a starter." (Photo by Jeff Haynes/NBAE via Getty Images)Fever fans believe Bonner quit on the team mid-season. For that reason alone, she probably won't get much support from the public. Advertisement "Wish her the best and her actions and behaviors at the beginning of the season really made us fans love her. Disappointed to see her leave like this. The younger Fever players really respected her and wanted to win for her," one fan said. "Who quits on her team in the middle of the season because things ain't going their way? This is so low man," a second fan wrote on X. "Wanting to be a starter on a team that runs a fast paced offense at near 40 is insane," another fan said. "Like she started the season in the starting lineup and played poorly, and someone better took her spot. It be like that sometimes." The Fever are expected to work on a trade for Bonner. Her preferred landing spots are the Atlanta Dream and Phoenix Mercury. Advertisement Do you think Bonner quit on the Fever? Indiana Fever Make Final Roster Decision On DeWanna Bonner

Indiana Fever Make Final Roster Decision On DeWanna Bonner originally appeared on The Spun. The DeWanna Bonner drama has finally come to an end for the Indiana Fever. During this past offseason, the Fever signed Bonner to a one-year contract because of her championship pedigree and consistent production. Unfortunately for the front office, she stopped suiting up for games due to "personal reasons." It later came out that she wasn't happy coming off the bench for Stephanie White's squad. Advertisement Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports reported Tuesday that Bonner has "no interest" in returning to the Fever. "Multiple sources told Front Office Sports that the fit in Indiana was 'off' from the beginning," Costabile wrote. "Bonner—who was signed to be an anchor with championship experience for the team's young core—was expected to be a starter." Less than 24 hours later, Chloe Peterson of the Indianapolis Star reported that Bonner is being waived this Wednesday. They won't have to worry about a buyout or a monetary penalty since Bonner agreed to an unprotected $200,000. Bonner will finish her time with the Fever averaging 7.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest. Her skillset just didn't fit in Indiana's fast-paced offense. She's expected to sign a one-year contract at the veteran minimum. Advertisement McDonald filled in admirably for Caitlin Clark during her brief absence, averaging 11 points per game. Now that Indiana has put this situation in the past, it's possible the locker room will be able to operate with a bit more freedom. As for Bonner, it's unclear what's next for her. According to Front Office Sports, her preferred landing spots are the Atlanta Dream and Phoenix Mercury.
