Representative Image MUMBAI: A 26-year-old man has lodged a police complaint against the staff of a popular Borivali-based restaurant for allegedly conniving with a woman to swindle him in a dating scam. The complainant had met the woman through a dating app. The MHB Colony police have registered an FIR and are investigating the matter. The complainant, a Santacruz resident who works as a manager at a private firm, said he matched with a 22-year-old woman named Disha on April 11. The following day, they decided to meet at a restaurant in Borivali, as the woman claimed she lived nearby. When the complainant arrived at the restaurant around 6 pm, the woman was already waiting. They proceeded upstairs and spent nearly two hours there, ordering liquor, a hookah pot, and energy drinks. At the end of their meal, the complainant was handed a bill of Rs 35,000. Shocked by the amount, he protested, saying it was too high. At that point, a man approached him and asked why he was delaying the payment. The staff then provided a QR code, and the complainant paid Rs 15,000. While speaking to the police, the woman claimed she had paid her share directly to the restaurant.
