2026 4-star CB and Texas A&M commit shuts down recruitment

Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class features two of the top cornerback prospects in the cycle, starting with five-star Brandon Arrington and four-star Victor Singleton, who the Aggies flipped from Illinois back in early April. Singleton has been one of the program's biggest supporters via social media, cheering on every commitment in the class, while his elite skill set on the field speaks for itself. On Sunday, Singleton joined a long list of Texas A&M's 27 commits who have shut down their recruitment, following four-star linebacker DaQuives Beck, who announced his shutdown on Friday night, which was spurred by wide receivers Aaron Gregory and Madden Williams and edge commits Jordan Carter and Samu Moala, who all announced their shutdowns this summer. Singleton is one of the fiercest defenders in the 2026 class, and the fact that head coach Mike Elko and defensive backs coach Jordan Peterson flipped him from Illinois head coach Bret Bielema, who has developed and sent several cornerbacks to the NFL, is quite the recruiting win. On the field, Singleton isn't afraid to tackle and is one of the better man coverage specialists due to his elite athleticism, quickness, and defensive instincts. During his 2024 junior season, Singleton recorded 30 tackles, five tackles for loss, and four interceptions. According to On3, Singleton is currently positioned as the 56th-ranked prospect in the cycle, the 8th-ranked cornerback, and the third-ranked prospect in Ohio. Texas A&M Football Wins Big With Overall June Recruitment With Consistent Five-Star and Elite Commits

Texas A&M Football Wins Big With Overall June Recruitment With Consistent Five-Star and Elite Commits originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Texas A&M football was the highlight from the class of 2026 recruitment cycle, particularly in June. The month wasn't kind to all schools as many suffered decommitments and missed landings, like Penn State and Auburn. Advertisement It seemed, though, that even the recruits the Aggies couldn't pull into College Station didn't hurt their overall group. While it was disappointing to not land elite recruits, Texas A&M was never desperate to fill a vacancy in its roster of rising seniors. Especially towards the end of the month, the Aggies' class of 2026 had commits sprinkled throughout both offense and defense. It turned the momentum in their favor and it seemed that even if they lost a recruit to another school, they were still winning. Arrington is also head coach Mike Elko's highest-ranked commit to date. ESPN currently ranked Texas A&M as the No. 2 overall recruiting class for 2025, noting that landing K.J. Edwards two days before Arrington was another huge win to get the Aggies started in the right direction. To round out the month, cornerback Camren Hamiel, offensive tackle Samuel Roseborough, and defensive end Tristian Givens, put Texas A&M in a comfortable spot heading into July. The Aggies also landed a five-star offensive tackle in Lamont Rogers. Advertisement All of these small and big wins may forecast success for the commitments to be announced in July. At the top of the Aggies list: Lamar Brown. Brown is the No. 1 overall defensive lineman, No. 5 recruit overall from the class, and No. 1 athlete out of Louisiana. At the moment, predictions are scattered between LSU and Texas A&M. However, Texas and Miami haven't been cut out of the race just yet. Elko's proved that he can win both in-state and out-of-state recruitment battles, especially when the Longhorns are in the mix. Beyond the initial battle, too, the Aggies can also keep recruits away from decommitting. Madden Williams, who was up in the air as to whether he'd stick with Texas A&M earlier in the month, announced that he shut down his commitment and stayed true to his Aggies pledge. Texas A&M currently has 21 commits, 10 of which came from June alone. Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class tops the SEC in On3's updated industry rankings

Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is by far the hottest in the country, and the momentum isn't slowing down anytime soon. Over the past week, the Aggies gained five commitments, including five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington and five-star edge Tristian Givens over the past four days. With 19 commitments in the cycle, coach Mike Elko and his talented staff are closing in on the No. 1-ranked class nationally, but it will be tough to upend USC, as the Trojans have by far been the hottest program in terms of recruiting since the start of the year. Still, Texas A&M boasts the best class in the SEC, which is expected to continue growing over the next few days or weeks following Elko's hosting of ten 2026 prospects last weekend. Right now, the Aggies are favored to land rising 2026 three-star offensive tackle Aaron Thomas, who will announce his commitment on Wednesday. However, Thomas is just the first name of a handful of upcoming commitments, including five-star defensive lineman Lamar Brown, who is coming off what many deem as a highly successful official visit to LSU. With plenty of news to come, On3 released its latest SEC industry rankings for the 2026 cycle, and the Aggies remain the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in what many consider to be the best conference among the Power Four. Texas A&M lands massive commitment from 2026 5-star CB over Oregon

Texas A&M's recruiting success is only shocking to those who haven't been paying attention, as coach Mike Elko and his staff have landed three priority 2026 prospects over the past five days, led by elite four-star running back KJ Edwards on Tuesday night, securing a victory over the Texas Longhorns. Again, Elko has built a highly respectable culture in College Station that directly led to three of the program's early 2026 commits, including four-star wide receiver Aaron Gregory and four-star running back Jonathan Hatton, who have shut down their future visits and are set to sign with Texas A&M during the early signing period. Relationships built on trust both on and off the field are everything in today's college football landscape, and the Aggies have become the best example of how to recruit from the ground up. Advertisement On Thursday morning, Mike Elko landed his 18th commitment in the 2026 cycle, as five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington chose the Aggies over Oregon with his family in front of his high school peers at Mount Miguel HS (CA), as his collegiate future will now start, and likely end in College Station as one of Texas A&M's future star defensive backs. Arrington is one of the fastest and most versatile athletes in the cycle, finishing his 2024 junior season with 26 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception while reeling in 57 receptions for 527 yards and five touchdowns on offense. While he can play wide receiver, his ability to blanket receivers in press-man coverage and his elite speed to beat top receivers along the boundary will make him a future NFL prospect during his third season with the program. According to On3, Arrington is currently the 9th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the No. 1-ranked athlete, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in California. Aggie fans and media react to commitment from Top 30 player Brandon Arrington

The month of June has been extremely generous to the Texas A&M football program. It's the time of year when college football programs ramp up recruiting efforts to lock in top prospects before the 2025 season. Just a day after landing a commitment from a Top 50 player and the nation's No. 2 running back, the Aggies added another standout—this time from California. On Thursday afternoon, Brandon Arrington announced his commitment to Texas A&M over Oregon. Arrington, the No. 29 overall prospect and No. 2 athlete in the 2025 class, brings a five-star rating with him to Aggieland. In addition to his on-field talent, he offers elite speed and length to A&M's defense. On the track, he's posted personal bests of 10.24 in the 100m and 20.37 in the 200m, impressive marks for his 6-2, 180-pound frame. Advertisement Arrington told ESPN that strong relationships with A&M assistants Jordan Peterson and Bryant Gross-Armiento played a key role in his decision: "The relationship goes back to day one, for real. They've been locked in with me, recruiting me hard from the very start. The environment feels like home. The people care about football there." Although National Signing Day is still months away and nothing is official until pen meets paper, this is huge news for Aggies fans. Social media lit up in celebration.
