Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Ahead of this weekend's massive two-night SummerSlam event, WWE has officially concluded its countdown of the 25 greatest matches in the history of the show. The iconic Intercontinental Championship match between Bret "The Hitman" Hart and "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith from 1992 has claimed the coveted top spot. The countdown has been playing out on WWE's digital platforms over the past several weeks. The final reveal celebrates a bout that is widely considered to be one of the greatest matches in company history. The Greatest SummerSlam Match Ever The main event of SummerSlam 1992 was a masterclass in storytelling, held in front of over 80,000 passionate fans at London's Wembley Stadium. The match was for the Intercontinental Championship, marking one of the rare times the title headlined a major pay-per-view. The storyline was deeply personal, as it pitted two brothers-in-law against each other, with Bret's sister and Bulldog's wife, Diana Hart, torn between them at ringside. In a legendary performance, Bret Hart carried an exhausted British Bulldog through a 25-minute technical classic, culminating in Bulldog winning the title in his home country in an incredibly emotional moment. Rounding Out The Top Five The rest of the top five is a showcase of legendary encounters from different eras. The number two spot went to the 2016 dream match between John Cena and AJ Styles, a bout that saw Styles score a clean, star-making victory over the face of the company. His 1991 technical masterpiece against Mr. Perfect, where he won his first Intercontinental Championship, was ranked number three. His classic 1994 steel cage match against his brother, Owen Hart, for the WWF Championship, came in at number five. The number four spot was claimed by the brutal "The Best vs. The Beast" No Disqualification match from 2013 between CM Punk and Brock Lesnar. That match was the violent culmination of Paul Heyman's betrayal of CM Punk. The Full List Here is the complete list of WWE's 25 greatest matches in SummerSlam history: 25. Good graps — JA (@ReceiptTalk) July 30, 2025 Bret Hart is the greatest in-ring storyteller in wrestling history. It's really not even close. Out of respect, the next two spots should be left empty. — BizarroBabyface (@BizarroBabyface) July 30, 2025 That was storytelling magic. Well deserved. — Mikey! (@MegaMikey81) July 30, 2025 It shouldn't be the greatest match ever... It doesn't worth to be in the no 1 greatest match ever — Enzorealestfan💙🇦🇷 (@IfeoluwaAj11) July 30, 2025 I had a feeling it would be this one. The crowd in Wembley. The family infighting. First time an IC title Main Evented a PPV. I'm still of the opinion Brett vs. Perfect is the better wrestling match, but I can definitely understand the spectacle nature of this match. — Jorge Edwards (@JorgeBEdwards) July 30, 2025 More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports

‘He's In So Much Trouble' - Brock Lesnar 'Banned' From Major Sport
'He's In So Much Trouble' - Brock Lesnar 'Banned' From Major Sport originally appeared on The Spun. For over 20 years Brock Lesnar has been hailed as one of the most entertaining people in combat sports and professional wrestling. But according to one insider, he won't be getting work in one major sport anytime soon. Appearing on the MightyCast with Demetrious Johnson, former UFC champion Daniel Cormier revealed that Lesnar is currently banned from professional wrestling everywhere. Cormier said that he could not detail what Lesnar did to get into trouble, but simply stated that he's in "so much trouble." 'Brock is on the banned list right now,' Cormier said. 'Brock got into so much trouble. You know what Brock did. I ain't telling you on air what Brock did. Brock is in so much trouble.' Many fans and news outlets have speculated that the ban stems from Lesnar being named in the sexual assault and trafficking lawsuit against former WWE top executive Vince McMahon. Some very damning text messages that were allegedly from Lesnar were made public during the initial stages of the suit. It stands to reason that WWE might treat Lesnar as radioactive while the lawsuit is dealt with given the allegations against him. The controversy all started early in 2024 when former WWE employee Janel Grant alleged and shared evidence that she had been coerced into a sexual relationship with McMahon and later trafficked to Lesnar and former WWE executive John Laurinaitis between 2020 and 2021. Lesnar was subsequently removed from all upcoming WWE programming, all promotional materials and has seldom been mentioned by the company in a year-and-a-half. That said, it really isn't clear how Cormier - who is not a WWE-specific insider - would know whether Lesnar is banned from all of professional wrestling. It's a pretty big umbrella category that goes well beyond WWE or even its immediate rivals here in the United States. It's probably a good thing that Lesnar has been more focused on his daughter Mya's collegiate athletics career as a shot-put star. Being a supportive father in public and avoiding any headlines of his own can only help him while the legal system does its thing.'He's In So Much Trouble' - Brock Lesnar 'Banned' From Major Sport first appeared on The Spun on Jul 22, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Jul 22, 2025, where it first appeared.

Daniel Cormier claims Brock Lesnar is on a TKO ban list
There's been very little in the way of news regarding Brock Lesnar and his status with WWE in the fallout of his being named in a lawsuit by former employee Janel Grant. For some time now, all signs have pointed to his not returning for a while, if ever. Now, an interview Daniel Cormier did with Demetrious Johnson earlier this week is making the rounds with comments from the former that Lesnar is straight up banned by TKO (via 'I mean, Brock is on a banned list right now. Brock got into so much trouble…I ain't telling you on air what Brock did. Brock is in so much trouble.' It's entirely possible Cormier was speaking more generally, that Lesnar is simply out right now and not necessary on an actual banned list or if there even is one. Either way, it tracks with all the other news we've heard about the big fellow. There's no reason to expect him back, in WWE or UFC, anytime soon. 49ers Player Reveals Relationship With Brock Lesnar's Daughter Mya
Love is in the air for Brock Lesnar's college athlete daughter, Mya. This week, 49ers lineman Drew Moss went Instagram official with Mya, posting two photos finding the pair getting affectionate at a wedding. "My forever wedding date," he wrote in the caption. Lesnar reiterated the sentiment in the comments section. "My handsome man," she added. Lesnar made waves on social media earlier this year for her athletic prowess. She's a shotput champion for the Colorado State University Rams, recently winning the 2025 NCAA Division I couple's followers sounded off in the comments, congratulating them for the announcement while cracking some jokes about Mya's famous dad. "Cute Couple♥️. But can bro avoid the suplex city ?" one wrote. While it's unclear how long Moss and Lesnar have been together, they likely connected at CSU, where Moss started 25 games for the school's football team in his previous two seasons. He joined the San Fransisco 49ers in the off-season after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. That means he's now relocated from Fort Collins to the West Coast, but that doesn't seem to be impacting the pair's relationship.
