Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 India Price Leaked Ahead Of July 9 Launch: What It Might Cost You
Last Updated: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 launch is less than 24 hours from now and the company is also bringing more products to its loaded Unpacked event. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and other devices are launching on July 9 and the company's big ticket Unpacked event will be loaded once again. The new foldables will be lining up alongside the Galaxy Watch 8 series, maybe the new Buds, and a quick tease for its rumoured tri-fold Galaxy device. But less than 24 hours before the launch, we now have a clear idea about how Samsung's new Fold 7 model could be priced in India and will people have to spend extra compared to last year for the new foldable device. The new leak comes via tipster Yogesh Brar who claims the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be pricier than the outgoing model. His post suggests the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 price in India could start around Rs 1,75,999 which will be more than Rs 10,000 more than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 launch price in the country. His post even talks about the Vivo X Fold 5 model which is rumoured to launch in India priced at Rs 1,49,999 which will make it a tough competition between the new foldables. Having said that, Samsung brings the latest hardware, which might not happen with the Vivo, going by all the leaked details of the new device. We expect to see a triple rear camera system like its predecessor but hopefully with a 200MP primary sensor and a telephoto lens to boot. The battery size needs to be bumped up as well and Samsung should ideally increase the charging speeds but we don't see that changing this year as well. First Published: July 08, 2025, 12:18 IST

Call for regulator grows as depositors seek justice
T'puram: The depositors' forum of the BSNL Engineers Cooperative Society has urged the govt to appoint a regulator to investigate irregularities within the society and take appropriate legal action. This appeal follows a recent Buds Court decision refusing to take cognisance of the deposit fraud case under Section 3 of the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes (Buds) Act. Without invoking Section 3, revenue recovery proceedings cannot be initiated against the accused. The court observed that since the society is registered under the registrar of cooperative societies and is considered regulated, only a designated regulator—not any agency—can approach the court regarding such matters. In response, the depositors' forum is pushing the govt to appoint a regulator who can assess the society's activities and establish that due to serious irregularities, the society had effectively become unregulated. If the regulator presents this finding, the Buds Court may reconsider its decision and allow action under Section 3, thereby enabling recovery proceedings. "The govt had previously appointed Sajeev Kartha as the regulator, but he has since retired. A new regulator must be appointed immediately to ensure justice for the depositors who were defrauded," said a member of the forum. Meanwhile, the high court is scheduled to hear on Wednesday a petition filed by the economic offences wing of the crime branch, challenging the Buds Court's refusal to take cognisance under Section 3. The scam affected hundreds of depositors, most of whom were retired BSNL employees. They were lured with promises of high interest and ended up losing significant savings. A Section 68(1) inquiry conducted by the cooperative department revealed a fraud amounting to Rs 360 crore. The accused diverted depositor funds for personal investments, took large loans under benami names without proper guarantees and purchased properties across various locations. A total of 19 individuals, including the society's president, secretary and board members, have been implicated in the fraud. Falhan Al-Otaibi KUWAIT: The Board of Directors of the Table Tennis Federation, chaired by Falhan Al-Otaibi, has approved several amendments to the competition regulations starting next season. The changes include the introduction of a doubles tournament in all federation competitions, as well as allowing clubs to register one professional player in the Federation Cup for the general category during the 2025–2026 season. They followed an extensive technical and administrative study and are intended to broaden the selection base among the best players in the future.' He also wished success to all clubs participating in the federation's competitions next season. Al-Otaibi noted that the new regulations also include the introduction of an Under-11 category, set to launch in the 2026–2027 season, to give all clubs equal time to prepare their teams. He added that participation in the Buds and Cubs categories (Under-11 and Under-13) next season will be limited to Kuwaiti players and GCC nationals only.

EOW challenges Buds court order
T'puram: Economic offence wing (EOW) of crime branch approached the high court, challenging the Buds court's order that refused to take cognizance under Section 3 of the Buds Act against the accused in the BSNL Engineers Cooperative Society deposit fraud. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Recovery proceedings against the accused can be initiated only if section 3 of the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Act (Buds Act) withstands. Section 3 bans the operation of unregulated deposit schemes and prohibits deposit takers from promoting, operating, or accepting deposits. The accused cheated hundreds of people by offering interest on deposits on the grounds that the society was registered under the registrar of cooperative societies and its businesses were regulated by the registrar. Since it was a regulated business, section 3 would not stand, observed the Buds court. It was also observed that the issues of such societies can be raised with the Buds Court by the regulator of such societies. In such situations, Sections 4 and 7 of the Buds Act will stand, not Section 3. The probe agency challenged this at the HC stating that the business of the society was fully unregulated as the accused flouted all the norms of the byelaws and cooperative rules. The court will consider the plea on July 2. The depositors also have filed an impleading petition. TNN
