2026 GMC Acadia Denali Ultimate Reaches Peak Luxe
There's a new Denali Ultimate trim in the 2026 GMC Acadia lineup, upping the luxury quotient with premium interior materials and additional standard features. The Acadia Denali Ultimate's standout additions include massaging leather seats, Paldao wood interior accents, an upgraded Bose sound system, performance suspension, and a panoramic sunroof. The Denali Ultimate will be the top trim in the Acadia lineup and is expected to go on sale at the end of 2025; pricing information isn't yet available. It takes a lot for a mid-size SUV to stand out these days. After its refresh in 2024, the GMC Acadia boasts larger proportions and sharper looks, but it still lacks a distinguishing trait to elevate it above the segment's midpack. The fact that it shares its mechanical foundation with the less expensive Chevrolet Traverse and the swankier Buick Enclave doesn't help its case, either. In an effort to up its appeal, GMC has announced a new top-tier Denali Ultimate trim that will max out the Acadia's luxury quotient, likely at a steep price. While upscale Denali trims are available for most GMC vehicles, the Denali Ultimate moniker is currently only used on range-topping versions of the Yukon, Sierra 1500, and Sierra HD. To justify the title and hefty price premium, those models feature unique exterior styling accents, fancier interior adornments, and mostly checked-off option sheets. View Photos GMC The new Acadia Denali Ultimate follows the same recipe. On the outside, a black chrome grille, special badging, LED daytime running lights, and 22-inch aluminum wheels finished in an After Midnight Metallic hue distinguish the Denali Ultimate from lesser Acadia trims. A Wealth of Luxury Details on the Inside The luxury focus is much more evident inside, where heated, ventilated, and massaging seats wrapped in rich Woodland Mahogany leather await the driver and front-seat passenger. Paldao wood trim with laser-etched detailing on the door panels, center console, and dashboard gives the cabin an elevated rustic vibe. Other interior flourishes include model-specific floor mats and topographical maps embossed into the front seat backs. View Photos GMC The Acadia Denali Ultimate also adds a host of desirable standard features. The list includes a 16-speaker Bose Performance Series sound system, a configurable 8-inch head-up display, a nine-camera surround-view system, and a panoramic sunroof. A performance suspension setup and a three-year subscription to GM's Super Cruise Level 2 hands-free driving system are also included. GMC hasn't released pricing information for the 2026 Acadia lineup yet, but it's fair to assume that the Denali Ultimate will command a sizable price premium over the standard Denali trim. Austin Parsons Associate Editor Austin's car fixation began at a young age and at 1:64 scale. Eventually, Hot Wheels weren't cutting it anymore, so he developed an obsession with his father's full-sized 1965 Ford Mustang instead. Desperate to break into the automotive industry, he bartered his way into a job at a local BMW dealership by promising to stop hurling nerdy technical facts at the salesmen who came into the neighboring coffee shop where he worked. That was also around the time when he started writing automotive reviews, news articles, and technical guides for a number of local and international publications. Now at Car and Driver, Austin brings more than 10 years of experience in the automotive industry and an all-so-common love-hate relationship with German engineering to the table. Read full bio

2026 Chevrolet Traverse Mid-Size SUV Part of GM Stop-Sale Order
General Motors has issued a stop-sale order for three of its mid-size SUVs, as reported by GM Authority. The Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave, and GMC Acadia—all 2026 models—are part of the stop-sale, which reportedly involves an undisclosed quality issue. The stop-sale only involves 92 total GM SUVs, and the automaker expects to resolve the issue by the end of the week. UPDATED 7/14/25, 6:55 p.m.: A GM spokesperson confirmed the stop-sale order, which only involves 92 total GM mid-size SUVs, including the 2026 Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave. While they didn't provide details about the "quality" issue, they said it's expected to be resolved by the end of the week. We don't know the exact reason that General Motors has reportedly issued a stop-sale order for some of its three-row mid-size SUVs. However, according to a report by GM Authority, there's a quality-related problem that has led the automaker to pause the sale of certain 2026 Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave, and GMC Acadia models. GMC Michael Simari | Car and Driver While details are scarce, GMA claims that the stop-sale notice was part of a dealer bulletin (reference number N252517720) that was posted last week on July 7. Until the undisclosed quality issue is resolved, the vehicles cannot be delivered to customers, traded to other dealers, or used for demonstrations. All three GM models recently entered a new generation, which introduced new designs, powertrains, and technology. The trio is also built alongside each other at the Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan. Car and Driver has reached out to a GM representative to confirm the stop-sale order. However, we didn't receive a response by the time of publication. We will update this story with additional information if we learn more. GM Suspends 2026 SUV Sales Over Undisclosed Problem
General Motors has placed a stop-sale order on three of its midsize SUVs – the 2026 model years of the GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, and Chevrolet Traverse. While these nameplates each target slightly different market segments, they're all built on the GM C1 platform and assembled at the Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan. They also share the same 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine. But right now, what they really share is a problem. As of July 7, GM has issued a stop-sale on all three 2026 models, citing an undisclosed quality issue, according to GM Authority. Dealers were instructed via bulletin N252517720 not to sell, trade, auction, or even use affected vehicles for demonstration purposes. The order covers specific VINs, and while GM investigates the issue, these SUVs are essentially on lockdown. The timing of the stop-sale is unfortunate, especially since the 2026 model year brings notable updates for all three SUVs. The 2026 GMC Acadia gets more tech than the outgoing model year, but with a price hike in tow. It now starts at over $44,000, with standard features including a digital key card and a Rear Camera Mirror for the Elevation trim, while Glacier White Tricoat and Riverstone Metallic replace older color options. Meanwhile, the 2026 Buick Enclave gets updated interior trim, upgraded in-car tech, and a sleeker infotainment interface. The automaker also shuffled paint options and tweaked some of the standard safety tech. The 2026 Chevy Traverse has only been redesigned for 2024, which hosted the return of the Z71 trim and a new, sportier-looking RS variant. While no major powertrain changes were introduced, the Traverse benefits from tech upgrades and refreshed interior styling. GM hasn't provided a timeline for when the stop-sale might be lifted, or what quality issue exactly triggered it. Of note, production has already started, so the problem must have been really important to not reach customers. This isn't the first time that GM has issued a stop-sale order. In 2023, GM halted sales of the Chevy Blazer EV due to software issues, while in 2016, it stopped selling certain SUVs over incorrect fuel economy labels. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. Buick's Luxe-Forward Design Moves The 2025 Enclave To Center Stage
The 2025 Buick Enclave Avenir Tour the 2025 Buick Enclave and it's no surprise the company is setting sales records. Buick underwent a top-to-bottom overhaul over the last few years and it's starting to pay off; the brand saw 29% growth in sales across its four-model portfolio for the first half of 2025. It's an impressive streak for a brand that was more of a hidden gem than a category leader just a few years ago. Leading the charge is Buick's marquee model, the three-row, seven passenger Enclave SUV, a favorite for families who want under-the-radar luxury with an elevated interior experience, modern tech, extra seating and ample cargo space. Enclave's sales are up 46% for the first half of 2025 so it's no surprise that Duncan Aldred, Buick's former global vice president, was recently elevated to president of GM North America. Leading Through Minimalist Luxury Minimalism is a go-to design approach and one that is embodied in Buick's Wildcat Concept, created in 2022 under design chief Sharon Gauci. Wildcat ushered in the next era of Buick design starting with a newly-slimmed logo, a sculpted nose and sleek head lights and tail lights. Its influence is seen in the Enclave, which eliminated or hid most buttons, moved the gear shifter to the steering column and streamlined functions like air vents and climate controls. The changes create a sense of calm and allow refined materials to carry the design and set the tone in the cabin. Enclave's cabin palettes are also notable for tone-on-tone colors, subtle textures and at its center, a floating center console that elicits an open-feel cabin. The minimalist feel carries through to the center row captains chairs (there is not a bench option) and into the third row and cargo area, with necessary functions tucked into out-of-the way spaces. The interior of the 2025 Buick Enclave Is Enclave A 'White Label Cadillac'? While the 'white label Cadillac' tag may not be a fair assessment for the Buick Enclave—given the deep design integrity Buick's design team brings to the model—it's what customers may see when comparing Cadillac SUVs to the Enclave. The Escalade, which is a larger full-size SUV with four wheel drive, led GM's roll out of expansive center screens and uncluttered spaces. And its center console, while not the floating design that the Enclave sports, has a similar feel, though Enclave's approach is more minimalist with fewer buttons and screens. Buyers looking for many of the luxe features in the Escalade but don't want the heft of its size and price may find the best alternative in the Buick Enclave, which is priced from $46,595 for the Preferred model to $59,695 for the top of the line Avenir model; all wheel drive adds about $2,000. The Avenir cabin in the 2025 Buick Enclave Avenir Sets The Luxury Standard For Buick Design While Buick Enclave offers two models that deliver a nice level of luxury, Premium and Sport, it's the Avenir model that is really the luxury standard for the brand. There is an Avenir trim for every model, even the elegant but budget-priced Envista which comes in at about $30,000 for the top of the line leather-clad model. The Buick Enclave Avenir includes every feature the brand offers in this model, from head up display to a digital rear view mirror, 22-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof and quilted leather seating; other than Super Cruise hands free highway driving for $3,730, a trailering package, upgraded paint choices and all weather mats, there are few options to add. Avenir offers two interior palettes: Ebony with gray accents (as seen in our test model) and light gray with dark blue accents. Both add tone-on-tone details including wood panels on the doors and dash, narrow slashes of chrome and a rose gold surround on the floating center console which nicely sets it apart from the storage bin beneath. The floating center console in the 2025 Buick Enclave Premium And Sport Trims Offer Nice Advantages, Too Buyers who don't want, or can't get, the Avenir model and opt for Sport or Premium models will also find a nice level of luxury, including the 30' multimedia screen that spans the dash, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a Google Built-in multimedia operating system with 'hey Google' voice activated assistance. These models also come in a choice of cream or ebony leatherette seating in the Premium model. Even with most of the upgrades available, including Super Cruise, a panoramic sunroof and shiny sport wheels, the price can settle at about $8,000 less than the Avenir. The 2025 Buick Enclave Avenir Driving The Buick Enclave Is A Delight To really drive home the idea of luxury, the Buick design team worked hard to create a super quiet cabin, a hallmark of luxury cars. In test driving the Enclave I found the experience to be nicely muted, allowing for conversation, listening to the Bose sound system or just zoning out and enjoying the drive. The quiet cabin also aids in allowing all passengers to use the 'hey Google' voice assist; the system can requests from any seat in the car. The power that drives 2025 Buick Enclave is thanks to the new four-cylinder turbo engine that delivers 328 hp, which is the right amount of power for an SUV this size—not less than is necessary but not so much as it feels dangerous in your teenager's hands. It's the same engine that powers GM's other newly redesigned three-row SUVS, the Chevrolet Traverse and the GMC Acadia. Paired with an eight-speed transmission, the Enclave feels and drives confidently. The steering wheel on the 2025 Buick Enclave features the new logo and the Super Cruise bar at the ... More top Confidence Is King In Three Rows Of Luxury Maybe the thing I liked most about the Buick Enclave is the sense of confidence it exudes. It's roomy and has great capacity for passengers and space, but behind the wheel you might forget that fact. Despite its long frame, it's easy to drive thanks to a nice ride height and unibody crossover structure that makes it feel more like a car and less like a truck. Super Cruise hands-free highway driving adds another level of confidence, allowing the driver to relax a bit while the car handles the stress. The wide center screen, floating console and the panoramic sunroof add even more to the luxurious feel, as do the quilted seats and the elegant exterior details. It's not hard to see why the Buick brand, led by the Enclave, have moved from hidden gem to center stage among luxury cars.

Autotrader Names Best Car Interiors Under $50,000 for 2025
ATLANTA, June 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — One of the primary joys of getting a new car is basking in the thrill of an eye-catching exterior, but most buyers know ultimately, they will spend much more time inside their vehicle than admiring it from the outside. Today's new-car shoppers will be relieved to learn they don't have to spend top-dollar to enjoy an exceptional interior. To help narrow the shopping list, Autotrader, a Cox Automotive brand, recently named the Best Interiors Under $50,000 for 2025. 'When you spend enough time in your car, you will begin to appreciate the benefits of superior interior design,' said Brian Moody, executive editor for Autotrader. 'Contrary to what some may initially think, interior design goes far beyond appearance. When the Autotrader editors evaluate a vehicle's interior, we primarily consider function and feel. We touch everything, turn every knob, punch every button, slide every lever. We operate the infotainment system, adjust the seats, open and close the windows – everything a driver will do inside their vehicle on a daily basis. All of these factors and more contribute to our annual selections of vehicles with the best interiors.' All vehicles considered for this honor are 2025 models and feature base prices under $50,000 (including destination fees), leaving the Autotrader editors with a plethora of cars, trucks and SUVs to evaluate. This year's 10 winning vehicles feature standout interiors that rise above the competition.
