Candace Cameron Bure warns about ‘scary' Hollywood weight-loss trend making a comeback
Candace Cameron Bure is opening up about the various weight-loss trends taking over Hollywood. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Bure – who released a new devotional, '100 Days of Joy and Strength: A Daily Devotional Journey' last week – got candid about the 'scary' way certain fads are reshaping people's perspectives on body image in Hollywood and explained how her faith has helped her in her own journey of finding and embracing body positivity. 'It can be scary, although I feel like this younger generation has already had so much more body positivity that I hope they understand that it's a trend,' the 'Full House' alum, 49, said. 'I think of my daughter, and she just doesn't have the same viewpoint of body image that I did growing up, and especially as a child of the '80s and '90s. It's like mine's all messed up. I am middle-aged, and I still have all of these thoughts as to the perfect body and this and that, and it's troubling.' 'Yet my daughter and her friends and all of that have way less, they don't think about bodies like that,' she continued. 'So I hope that they do understand that it's a trend. But yeah, it does freak me out. It makes me sad to see everyone suddenly becoming skinny because I think it's very triggering for a lot of people our age that grew up in the '80s and '90s. It was the 'Kate Moss era' and you're like, 'Oh, this is what we have to be attractive.'' 'But we know that's not true,' she added. 'And we also know just to apply it back to biblical principles, that God does not love us more or less dependent upon our weight or our body size or our shape. He doesn't love us or value us anymore or less depending on how we look. He's a God of the heart that judges the heart, and it's all about who we are on the inside. And that is where I will continually go back to. No matter how the culture changes in terms of diet and what fad and what body type is in, I know that God loves me for who I am and my heart and doesn't pay attention to the exterior and places no value in it whatsoever.' 3 Candace Cameron Bure said weight-loss trends taking over Hollywood are 'scary.' Getty Images With drugs such as Ozempic and Mounjaro used as a weight-loss solution for many, Bure said it's important to understand the 'why' behind people's decisions to use them. 'I don't say this to just be a broad brush and be neutral when I say that you really do need to do what works for you,' she said. 'I think the most important part is the 'why' are you doing these things? Why do you work out? Why do you eat well? Why do you want weight-loss drugs? Why? And those reasons are very different for all people.' 'For me, I have to come down to the 'Why do I want to take care of myself the way that I do?' I want to be healthy. I want to enjoy my later years as I age. I want to enjoy them to the fullest. So I want a strong body. I want to lift weights. I want to eat well to nourish my body so that I can have a long life with my children and my grandchildren and my husband and I want to be active. Those are my whys.' 'And whether weight-loss drugs are included for you in that journey to be your best, that's up to each individual. And I kind of let that go,' she added. 'You see so much of Hollywood getting skinny all of a sudden, and there's a little place of jealousy as a woman that it's like, 'Oh, this is the easy way out.' And yet I know that's not true for everybody. And I really had to just take a step back and say, 'Why am I jealous? Why am I feeling this way?'' Earlier this year, Bure – who has three adult children with husband Valeri Bure – shared how she managed to develop healthy boundaries when it comes to body positivity. 'I've whipped my body,' an emotional Bure told podcast guests Allie Schnacky and daughter, Natasha Bure, during an episode of 'The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast.' 'I've spoken to it so harshly. Getty Images Recounting a dream she once had, Bure said a certain Bible verse – Numbers 22 – allowed her to view her body in a different light. 'And then God allowed my body to speak back, and my body said back to me, 'Have I not been the body that's carried you all the days of your life? Am I not your legs that allow you to walk? Am I not your arms that allow you to pick up and feed yourself?… Why do you hurt me so badly, and why do you talk to me so badly, and why do you treat me this way? I can lift you up… you have to tell me what to do. I'm following your lead.'' 'And it was like this amazing revelation in my life,' she continued. 'And the weirdest story out of the Bible, that God spoke to me about how mean I've been to my body. I never saw it that way – it's this beautiful, amazing thing that God gave me.' Bure admitted she now has 'a whole different perspective of how I think about my body.' The actress later took to social media to share a clip of the episode. 'I was so mean to myself… and looking back it breaks my heart. Learning to speak with kindness to my body has been a journey, and I know I'm not alone in this. To those who relate – I hope you can feel me giving you the biggest virtual hug right now. And I hope you'll join me in showing ourselves the grace and love we truly deserve,' she said. She said her faith eventually helped her recover. 'It was never about the weight for me,' she told People in 2016. 'It was an emotional issue.' 3 'God does not love us more or less dependent upon our weight or our body size or our shape,' Bure added. Ahead of her book's release, Bure also opened up to Fox News Digital about her personal journey of growth, shared the unexpected ways God has shown up for her, and explained how her new book will offer guidance and encouragement to those seeking daily fulfillment. 'I am always amazed because He always shows up, and it's sometimes in unexpected ways,' Bure said. 'Sometimes it's the way I want Him to show up, and sometimes it's the way I was hoping He wouldn't show up, but He did.' 'But what I've learned over the years in knowing Him and knowing His character is that He's always there, literally always there,' she added. 'So, sometimes, in the scariest moments, when I'm like, 'God, I need you with me. I need to feel your presence. Bring me through this.' And sometimes you want the win at the end, He brings you through, and you're like, 'Yes, I did it.' 'And sometimes you lose, sometimes you fail, but it's in those moments that I've realized, 'God, you were with me. You actually helped push me through, even if it ended up being a failure, even if I don't feel very courageous, and I feel like it just wasn't what I wanted it to be. The fact that I actually did it, I pushed through the fear, I had the courage, or I had the stamina to walk another step, that's because of You.''

Candace Cameron Bure Says Horror Films Can Open ‘Portal' That Is ‘Incredibly Demonic'
Candace Cameron Bure seems fully convinced that horror films can open 'a portal.' The 'Full House' alum has frequently espoused her Christian values publicly, including her preference for a meek and 'submissive' role in marriage, but went a little further afield this week by arguing that television can 'let stuff inside' the home that is 'demonic.' The actor presented her personal 'portal' theory on Tuesday's episode of 'The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast' and admitted that her kids — Lev, Natasha and Maksim — mock her for it 'all the time.' Social media users who heard her out are currently doing the same. 'Like if you're watching this, or you're playing this video game, or whatever, that's a portal that could let stuff inside our home,' said Bure on the podcast. 'I don't even want someone watching a scary movie in our house on the TV, because to me, that's just a portal.' The actor reminded viewers that she's in the film industry and understands how movies are made, but nonetheless argued there can still be 'something incredibly demonic' to the results, which her guest, Texas-based pastor Jonathan Pokluda, audibly agreed with. Bure's philosophy appears to extend even to everyday products, such as water. 'I feel like it's a portal that gets opened up, and that just reminded me, you've posted something a while back about Liquid Death,' she told Pokluda. 'You're like, 'Do you want to buy a product that is literally being cursed as it's going out into distribution?'' The pastor shared such sentiments on social media earlier this year, declaring that he is 'super out' on the beverage company for a marketing campaign cheekily asking customers to 'sell your soul' to join its 'Liquid Death Country Club.' 'They are asking you to sell your soul to them and hired a witch to curse their drinks,' Pokluda wrote on Instagram in February. 'Spread the word. If you're like, 'OK, Karen, they are just having fun.' Please grab a copy of 'Your Story Has a Villain.'' Pokluda's book aims to teach readers how to 'identify spiritual warfare' and 'defeat the enemy.' His claim that a witch cursed Liquid Death's products, meanwhile, appears to be based on a 2019 marketing stunt for a run of Halloween-themed drinks. The company also claimed in an advertisement in 2022 to have bought an actual witch a Super Bowl ticket. While most customers likely see these stunts as mere promotional ploys, devout Christians Pokluda and Bure appear to be unconvinced. 'This is how he works,' Pokluda said about the devil. 'I'm telling you, he tries to disguise under that stuff. That's what he wants you to feel. If you ever are like, 'Oh, I'm not going to be impacted by that,' that's what Satan wants you to feel. That's the whole essence of it.' His comments prompted affirmative nods from Bure, who added, 'Yeah.' Candace Cameron Bure says horror films can lead to ‘portal' that's ‘demonic': Not in my home!
Candace Cameron Bure isn't a fan of horror. The 'Full House' alum, 49, who is outspoken about her Christian faith, opened up about why she won't allow her family to watch scary movies at home. 'In our house as a mom, I feel like you guys make fun of me when I talk about — they make fun of me all the time — but particularly when I'm serious about a spiritual thing happening, and then they're rolling their eyes at me. Like the portal,' Bure said on an episode of 'The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast' published on Tuesday, June 10, with her son, Lev, and pastor Jonathan Pokluda as guests. 10 Candace Cameron Bure shared her thoughts on horror films during a recent podcast episode. 'Listen, I'm in the film industry,' she said. 'I understand how it all works. I know that movie has a crew of 200 people, and they're lighting it, and they're adding the sound effects, and it's makeup, and the camera, people and actors; however, there's still something that can be incredibly demonic while they've made it.' 'And, so, I love seeing this in our country, and I'm hopeful. I'm very hopeful.'

Candace Cameron Bure reveals how she plans to get into the ‘best shape of my life' at 50
Candace Cameron Bure, who recently turned 49, plans to be in the 'best shape of my life' when she enters her 50s next year. 'That's what I'm working towards,' the Great American Family star told Fox News Digital. 'I've been filming a lot of movies, so I don't feel like I'm at my top right now because my fitness has to take a back seat while I'm filming movies, but I turned 49 this year and I have really big goals for myself just keeping active and healthy, but going into 50, I wanna be in best shape that I can possibly be in.' Advertisement Bure said she's been busy filming her Christmas movies for the network. She just wrapped a time-travel Christmas movie called 'Timeless Tidings of Joy,' and is heading into production for another one next week. She also stars in the new 'Ainsley McGregor Mysteries' series. 'So, my fitness game, once I finish this movie, at least in the gym, is gonna kick it up a notch,' she explained. 'But honestly, I feel really great.' Bure said she's been working on her fitness since she was in her early 30s, 'and I'm in a groove, and I just want to approach life and aging as someone with grace, but also enthusiasm.' 'And leaning into all the things that I can do as I get older and preparing my body so that I can continue to do those things as I older,' the actress told Fox News Digital. 'Not so much from a vanity point of view, but like, you know, I wanna be able to open the peanut butter jar when I'm 80, and I need grip strength for that. But all that comes from using your muscles and lifting weights and just basic skills.' Did you love riding your bike? Then go ride a bike. Like, you don't have to get on the stationary one. Go actually ride a bike.' Her family loves a 'good game of pickleball. 'I love the genre so much. The cozy mysteries are so much fun,' Bure said. 'So, of course, I had a very successful franchise, the 'Aurora Teagarden Mysteries,' and I wanted to create another franchise of movies and one that felt fresh and new and new characters, new relationships,' she said of her new 'Ainsley McGregor Mysteries,' which are about a criminologist-turned-crafter. The first, 'Ainsley McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Winemaker,' came out last year. Advertisement 'I'm so happy that the first one was really well-received, and we've got the newest Ainsley McGregor case, 'A Case for the Yarn Maker,' which is, you know, it's just another mystery,' she said. The mysteries are 'fun' and 'safe' to watch with the family, Bure added. 'Nothing gory, nothing bloody, but it's like this great whodunit. And the 'Ainsley McGregors,' as we continue to make these movies, they're just getting elevated more and more with each one, and the dialogue is sharper, the dialogue is, you know, quick-witted, they're funny, but they're smart.' 'A Case for the Winemaker' brings back the main characters from the first film, which centers on McGregor's craft shop Bless Your Arts, where she interacts with other artists and customers in the town. 'You'll be familiar with them now, but you're going to learn a little more about each of them in each installment, each movie,' she explained. 'And in this one, you're going to learn a little bit more about Mrs. Whedon. And we kind of focus the story on her and her granddaughter because this mystery has a lot of ties to who she is.' 'And so we're excited. This is kind of a little dream team with the three of us producing these movies, writing them and working on them.' 'Stay glued,' she added when asked what viewers should expect from the second installment. Advertisement 'Listen to the clues, listen to the dialogue because every little word, it's a little hint as to who could have done it. But my hope is that you don't figure it out in the first 10 minutes of the movie because you've got 90 more to go, and I hope you don't figure it until the very end,' she said, adding that there are always a few red herrings. Bure also co-stars with her daughter, Natasha Bure, in the holiday film 'Timeless Tidings of Joy,' and shared some industry advice. 'What's most important for me as her mom and also someone that's been in this entertainment industry for 40 years is that, you know, I have wisdom that I'm happy and want to share with from all aspects of it,' she said. 'So, I do that often, and she's 26 years old. So she's at a place in her life where she very much respects it and asks me those questions. It's not like having a teenager when your kids think, like, you're dumb and you don't know anything. Like, we're past all of that. And so I have such a great relationship with all of my kids and I feel really blessed and honored that she comes to me and asks questions and wants advice, but she's so talented and doing such a great job, but as long as she knows I'm here, and her dad, we're here and we're for her, that's the most important thing for me.'
