Miracle! Glowing cross-shaped cloud spotted in the Sydney sky on Good Friday

Since childhood, we associated our imagination with dreamy cloud shapes. Sometimes, cotton candy-like clouds were compared to clouds or happy faces. But what if these clouds show one of those religious signs that bring a sigh of relief to people, and that too on a religiously significant day? These rare events are often interpreted as omens, miracles, or divine messages. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In many cultures, the appearance of a rainbow at a specific moment or an unexpected shape in the clouds can signal deep emotions and spiritual meaning. The prevalence of social media and smartphone cameras has also helped to amplify our ability to capture these fleeting wonders. One such beautiful moment recently has gone viral on social media, which has compelled the users to presume the incident as anything but a miracle. A cross-shaped cloud appeared in the Sydney sky on Good Friday! On the night of April 18, 2025, Sydney residents were struck by a miraculous sight in the sky, as a cloud showing a glowing cross-like formation appeared above the city. It caught the attention of the viewers during the early or late hours of Good Friday. The photograph, showing a bright light, likely the moon, partially obscured by clouds, formed a distinct cross pattern in the turbulent night sky. While the image quickly ignited conversation and speculation, meteorologists believe the phenomenon was a result of natural atmospheric conditions. The unusual formation occurred during a stormy Easter long weekend, when New South Wales faced severe coastal weather. Waves surged up to 5.5 meters in some areas, leading to multiple drowning incidents and triggering safety alerts across the region. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, wave heights near Sydney reached 2.5 to 3 meters, with strong winds and dense cloud cover, conditions that could easily create unusual light effects in the sky. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Although no official scientific explanation or meteorological report confirmed the cross-shaped sighting, this sighting became a viral sensation online. Some locals saw a deeper meaning in it, especially considering its timing. As reported on social media platforms, 'some viewed it as a rare or symbolic occurrence tied to the religious significance of Good Friday.' According to weather specialists, the combination of cloud layers, wind movement, and moonlight likely played a role. The unique interaction between light and weather is not uncommon, especially during stormy nights

WA weather: BOM issues wind, fire and farmer warnings as blustery winds and heavy rainfall expected

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued multiple weather warnings as West Aussies prepare for blustery winds and heavy downpours on Wednesday and Thursday. The wind warning issued on Wednesday continue into Thursday, with a gale warning for Esperance Coast and Eucla Coast. There is also a strong marine wind warning for most of WA, covering the following coasts: Pilbara West, Ningaloo, Gascoyne, Geraldton, Lancelin, Perth, Bunbury Geographe, Leeuwin and Albany. The strong winds have also led to a fire warning for Thursday in the central interior region of WA; this is due to dry and windy conditions that are forecast to develop during Thursday ahead of a strong cold front crossing the Central Interior district in the evening. BOM also issued a warning to sheep graziers on Wednesday afternoon, alerting farmers that cold temperatures, rain and showers and southwesterly winds are expected during Wednesday and Thursday, which poses the risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions. Areas likely to be affected include parts of the Lower West, South Coastal, South East Coastal and Great Southern forecast districts. In Perth, there's a very high chance of showers on Wednesday evening and winds are expected to be northwesterly at 15 to 25 km/h turning west to southwesterly 20 to 30 km/h in the evening.
