Celine Dion fans left horrified after 'invasive' Ellen DeGeneres interview resurfaces

Ellen DeGeneres is once again facing backlash over an old interview - this time involving Celine Dion. The clip, which originally aired in 2007 on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, has recently resurfaced online - and viewers are revisiting the talk show host's often uncomfortable interviewing style because of it. In the segment, Ellen commented on Dion's then-six-year-old son René-Charles' long hair, joking, 'It seems like you're busy with something, 'cause you're forgetting to cut your son's hair.' The comment was met with mixed reactions from the audience - laughter with audible gasps - but Dion didn't hold back. 'Do you have a problem with that?' she asked, clearly caught off guard. Ellen tried to walk it back, saying she didn't have a problem, but then doubled down: 'That is some long hair!' Dion responded with grace but set firm boundaries, explaining that her son made his own choices about his appearance. 'Whatever I will do, I won't please everyone… Do you know that René-Charles makes his own decisions?' she said. 'When he's ready, I'll cut it.' Ellen quickly moved on to another topic, seemingly brushing off Dion's response. The moment, largely forgotten until now, has sparked renewed scrutiny in light of previous controversies surrounding Ellen's behavior toward guests. In 2020, BuzzFeed News published an investigation into the Ellen Show's alleged toxic workplace environment, which led to a broader reexamination of past interviews. One notable example is Mariah Carey 's 2008 appearance, where she was pressured into revealing a pregnancy she later miscarried. Carey would later call the experience 'extremely uncomfortable.' Though Ellen denied knowing about any toxicity behind the scenes - even insisting in 2021 that celebrity guests always commented on the show's 'happy atmosphere' - old clips like this are once again calling that into question. Now, fans are reacting to the Dion moment with fresh eyes. 'I love how badly some of these Ellen clips have aged,' one Reddit user wrote. Fans slammed Ellen for her comments, pointing out similarities between this interview and other 'rude' ones the host had over the years 'She was viewed as a "fun" and "happy" place to go promote things and instead some people got rude invasive questions masked under humor and some people she literally scared the daylights out of with her "surprises."' 'This is also such a weird topic for Ellen to bring up,' another wrote. 'She has Céline Dion sitting with her on on a talk show, and she wants to focus on her kids hair?' Some users even questioned why it took so long for Ellen to be exposed for some of her 'terrible' behavior.

Céline Dion Calls Out Ellen DeGeneres In Resurfaced Clip

Back in 2020, BuzzFeed News published a series of investigations into the alleged toxic work environment on the set of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which subsequently led to several clips from the show being reexamined by viewers. Perhaps one of the most notable examples of an Ellen segment that has aged badly is Mariah Carey's infamous 2008 interview, during which Ellen pressured her into revealing her pregnancy. This weekend, a resurfaced clip of Céline Dion's reaction to a question from Ellen sparked a wave of renewed backlash over the talk show. In the clip, which took place in 2007, Ellen questioned Céline's decision to let her son René-Charles, then 6, grow his hair out. 'It seems like you're busy with something, 'cause you're forgetting to cut your son's hair,' she said before showing a photo of the little boy on screen. 'Look at him, he's beautiful, but look at his hair! When are you gonna cut that hair?' While the audience half laughed and half gasped at Ellen's question, Céline quickly made it clear that she wasn't impressed. 'Do you have a problem with that?' she asked, to which Ellen quickly replied, 'No, I don't have a problem.' Céline went on, 'You know, I have to say, it's amazing, right? Some people shave the heads of their children, and people say, 'Oh, isn't that terrible.' Well, I don't even cut my son's hair, and they say, 'Oh my God, when is she gonna cut her son's hair?'' 'Whatever I will do, I won't please anyone… Did you know that René-Charles makes his own decisions?' she said, noting that she'd asked her son many times if he wanted his hair cut or even trimmed. Looking back on the clip now, several internet users called out Ellen's lack of 'self-awareness' as they criticized the interaction. 'I love how badly some of these Ellen clips have aged. She was viewed as a 'fun' and 'happy' place to go promote things and instead some people got rude invasive questions masked under humor and some people she literally scared the daylights out of with her 'surprises,'' one person wrote. Did Trump say he entered changing rooms of Miss Teen USA contestants? New pageant post surfaces

Claims that President Donald Trump admitted to entering the changing rooms of Miss Teen USA contestants during his ownership of the pageant (1996–2015) have resurfaced on social media. The claims mainly stem from a 2016 BuzzFeed News report and a 2005 Howard Stern interview. This week several X users brought up Trump's alleged statement. Donald Trump speaks to members of the media on the South Lawn of the White House (Bloomberg) Trump's statements and allegations 2005 Howard Stern Interview: In an April 2005 interview on The Howard Stern Show, Trump, who owned the Miss Universe Organization (including Miss USA and Miss Teen USA), bragged about entering pageant dressing rooms, stating, 'I'll go backstage before a show and everyone's getting dressed, and everything else, and you know, no men are anywhere, and I'm allowed to go in because I'm the owner of the pageant and therefore I'm inspecting it… You know, they're standing there with no clothes… And so I sort of get away with things like that." He was referring to Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, where contestants are 18 or older, not Miss Teen USA. Miss Teen USA Allegations: In 2016, BuzzFeed News reported that five women from the 1997 Miss Teen USA pageant, including Mariah Billado (former Miss Vermont Teen USA), alleged that Trump entered their dressing room while contestants, some as young as 15, were changing. Billado recalled Trump saying, 'Don't worry, ladies, I've seen it all before." Three others, anonymously, described the incident as 'shocking' and 'creepy,' while a fifth later corroborated. Victoria Hughes (Miss Teen New Mexico 1997) said reports were exaggerated, noting chaperones warned contestants to cover up. Trump Campaign Response: In 2016, Trump's campaign denied the allegations, calling them meritless, but provided no evidence to disprove them. The president has not directly addressed the allegations. A post by @charise_lee this week claims Trump "admittedly stated' on The Howard Stern Show that he entered Miss Teen USA dressing rooms, linking it to #EpsteinCoverUp hashtags. The post includes a link to a video, likely the 2005 Stern interview, but misattributes Trump's quote to Miss Teen USA, not Miss USA or Miss Universe.

Margaret Cho Says Ellen DeGeneres Was ‘Really Weird and Not Nice' to Her

Margaret Cho described her strained relationship with Ellen DeGeneres during an appearance on a new episode of The Kelly Mantle Show. The comedian said DeGeneres always treated her like a stranger when she came on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, despite the fact that they had been around each other for years. 'Ellen was really weird and not nice to me for most of my career,' Cho said on the show. 'I opened for her in the 1980s, when she was a headliner in comedy clubs. Later, when I would do her talk show in the 2000s, she would act like we just met.' That's weird. We go way back. It's so creepy and weird.' Cho recalled a specific incident that stuck out to her as especially odd. David Bowie appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show the day after one of his concerts, at which Cho dressed up in an elaborate 'Chinese emperor outfit.' Bowie complimented the costume to DeGeneres, but the remark was edited out of the final broadcast. 'The producer, who's a really good friend of mine, had to call me and tell me, 'I can't believe she did this, but she cut it out of the show,'' Cho explained. ''But you need to know that he was going on and on about your outfit. God said your name. He loves you.'' She admitted she wasn't sure if it was actually a vindictive move, but added, 'Still, I'm going to take it personally.' DeGeneres' image took a hit in 2020 following a series of reports by BuzzFeed News in which employees at her show alleged racism, sexual misconduct, and intimidation at the hands of executive producers. Three producers were fired because of it, and DeGeneres issued an on-air apology. In 2022, singer Greyson Chance, whom DeGeneres signed to her label, told Rolling Stone he had 'never met someone more manipulative, more self-centered, and more blatantly opportunistic.' The Ellen DeGeneres Show ultimately ended in 2022 after 19 seasons. The host has since addressed the controversy on tour and in a stand-up special, Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval, which aired on Netflix. 'The Be Kind Girl wasn't kind — that was the headline,' DeGeneres said in the special. 'Here's the problem, I'm a comedian who got a talk show, and I ended the show every day by saying, 'Be kind to one another.' Had I ended my show by saying, 'Go fuck yourselves,' people would've been pleasantly surprised to find out I'm kind.' Margaret Cho says Ellen DeGeneres was 'not nice' throughout her career

LOS ANGELES, June 23: Margaret Cho has shared that Ellen DeGeneres was 'not nice' to her for much of her career, despite both starting out in comedy around the same time. During a recent interview on The Kelly Mantle Show, Cho said that whenever she appeared as a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, DeGeneres acted like they were meeting for the first time. 'Ellen was really strange and unfriendly to me for most of my career,' Cho explained. 'I opened for her back in the 1980s when she was already headlining comedy clubs, long before she became widely famous. But later, when I was on her talk show in the 2000s, she acted like we had never met.' Cho added with a laugh, 'I was thinking, 'That's weird.' We go way back. It felt so odd.' She also recounted an incident involving David Bowie, who was a guest on DeGeneres' show. The night before Bowie's appearance, Cho attended his concert dressed in what she described as a 'Chinese emperor outfit.' She later found out that Bowie complimented her outfit during the show, but those remarks were cut from the broadcast. 'A producer, who is a good friend of mine, called to say, 'I can't believe this, but they cut out Bowie's compliments about your outfit,'' Cho recalled. ''But you should know he was really impressed and kept talking about it.'' While Cho acknowledged that the cut might have been due to time constraints, she said she still took it personally. The Hollywood Reporter has contacted DeGeneres' representatives for comment. Before The Ellen DeGeneres Show ended with its 19th season in 2022, the show faced controversy, including personal criticisms and a BuzzFeed News report detailing allegations of a toxic work environment. This led to an internal investigation by WarnerMedia and the dismissal of some executives. DeGeneres addressed the claims at the start of the show's 18th season, apologizing to those affected and saying she took the matter seriously. Regarding her decision to end the show, DeGeneres told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021, 'As a creative person, you always need a challenge. This show was fun and great, but it just wasn't challenging anymore.' Cho has also spoken about the toxic workplace allegations, stating in a 2020 podcast, 'I think she's definitely intimidating. I'm still scared of Ellen. I can't imagine what it's like to work for her.'
