‘Not Typical Officer': Sanjay Narvekar On His Role In CID 2

Veteran actor Sanjay Narvekar joins the cast of CID 2 for the upcoming new twist
CID 2 is earning rave reviews for its intriguing twists and turns. The show has once again captivated viewers' hearts. It had a successful run from 1998 and 2018. After the first successful season, the creators returned with season two in 2024. This was the best news for all of the fans. Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, Ajay Nagrath, Aditya Srivastava, Ansha Sayed, Hrishikesh Pandey, Narendra Gupta, and others returned to reprise their renowned roles. This new season is set to have many twists coming up. We witnessed Shivaji Satam, also known as ACP Pradyuman, die, followed by a new ACP. Parth Samthaan has joined the show as ACP Ayushmaan. He stepped in to manage the team in ACP Pradyuman's absence, as well as to determine who the 'gaddar' is on the CID team. ACP Pradyuman returned after Barboza's plans failed, but was not apprehended. It was also discovered that Dr. Salunkhe was the 'gaddar' who assisted Barboza. Ayushmaan quit the team, and we saw Inspector Shreya return when ACP Pradyuman rescued her daughter. In a recent interview, the actor shared that the fan messaged him on Instagram and asked him to solve his mother's murder case. 'Bahot log iss show ko seriously lete hai. Mujhe DM aaya tha 'I think mere mom ka murder ka case aap hie solve kar sakte ho. Aap apna please contact dijiye, aap hie mere last hope ho'. Aise log bhi hai (Many people take this show seriously. I got a DM saying 'I think only you can solve my mom's murder case. Please give me your contact number, you are my last hope'. However, his role in the show was only for a few weeks. He marked his exit from the show after ACP Pradyuman aka Shivaji Satam's return. Previously, in an interview, Parth admitted that he had doubts about taking on the role of ACP Ayushman. The actor was speaking to Hindustan Times when he said, 'Initially, I rejected the role of ACP Pradyuman, because I don't relate to it. But the makers asked me to reconsider. I was also hesitant due to the show's long-standing cast and the fact that they'd have to address me as 'sir' on screen. It felt a bit unusual and awkward." Parth then also explained that it was obvious for fans to be upset. He also admitted that he never expected trolling to be this intense. Parth mentioned that replacing a 'legend" was not easy and agreed that he had a big responsibility. 'It's a huge responsibility. I recently shot with Shivaji Sir, and it was a fantastic experience. At 75, his energy and dedication are incredible. He's been consistent in his role for over two decades, and that's truly commendable," Parth told India Forums. 'Honestly, I didn't expect the trolling to be this intense. I understand where it's coming from. Even I have been a fan of Shivaji Sir and the original characters. She revealed, 'CID had already begun a few months ago, and I had always wanted to return. But I was quite busy with my startup and was constantly travelling to Dubai for the same. Once I got some breathing space and returned, things just aligned. It felt natural, like the right time, and it just happened." Revealing what fans can expect in the upcoming episodes, she said, 'Fans will surely get to see more of Inspector Abhijeet and Dr Tarika. In fact, we have already shot a few scenes together in the first couple of episodes. I hope the audience enjoys watching us together as much as we enjoy working together. That chemistry is something even we cherish." On being asked if her character is any different from the first season that audience remember, she elaborated, 'Dr Tarika is still the beloved character that people know and remember, but she has definitely evolved. She has pursued higher studies and has become a specialist in her field. So this time, she returns as a senior and more experienced forensic expert." Spilling beans about a surprise element, Shraddha stated, 'Dr Tarika has been in another profession too, before returning to the CID bureau.
