4 alleged fake plate sellers nabbed in Bulacan
Authorities arrest four suspects in San Ildefonso, Bulacan for allegedly selling fake license plates, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) said on Tuesday. In a statement, LTO said authorities conducted the operation on Saturday after confirming information about the illegal activity. 'We immediately coordinated with the CIDG to conduct an operation against these people, and this resulted in their arrest and the confiscation of the fake plates,' LTO chief Assistant Secretary Greg Pua said. 'We laud the LTO-Investigation and Intelligence Division headed by Renante Melitante and our partners in the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group for this successful operation,' he added. Seized from the suspects were the marked money, 51 pieces of fake plates, printing machines, computer units, a machine press, four cutting machines, a vinyl reflectorized film, a hole machine, 14 pieces of tray of acrylic letters, three acrylic borders, and a cold laminate machine. These confiscated items are worth P400,000. The suspects are now under the custody of the CIDG. They are facing cases for violations of the Presidential Decree 1730 as well as for imitation and false representations involving license plates under the Land Transportation and Traffic Code. 'We assure the public na hindi titigil ang inyong LTO para matigil ang mga ganitong klaseng iligal na gawain,' Pua said. DNA testing on Taal Lake bones

In a statement, the DOJ said the remains were visibly identified and recovered from the lake bed. 'This discovery could represent a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation,' the DOJ said. The DOJ emphasized that the operations was supposedly a 'technical site assessment' by the Philippine Coast Guard. But with the discovery, the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group or the National Bureau of Investigation will have to certify if the remains are indeed from a human being. DNA testing will also be conducted to determine if there is a match with any of the families of the missing individuals. 'While we proceed with caution and diligence, it offers renewed hope that we are closer to uncovering the truth and securing justice for the families of the missing,' the DOJ said. 'It was only a few meters from the shore. A CIDG team that was stationed on the lake shore, acting on information on where the possible jump-off point was, found the white sack not far from the shore. The DOJ and PCG teams were about 100 meters out and used a smaller boat to reach the shore to see what they had found.' 'The team decided to verify first whether it was human bones or not before releasing info. When CIDG made the determination, that was when we were comfortable to release the information,' the DOJ said. Authorities recovered the sack during the retrieval operations for the remains of missing cockfight enthusiasts (sabungero) allegedly dumped in Taal Lake, Batangas. Police Col. Geovanny Emerick Sibalo, provincial director of the Batangas police, told ABS-CBN News the sack was discovered about 10 meters from the shoreline. 4 Chinese, 9 Filipinos nabbed for alleged illegal mining
Four Chinese nationals and nine Filipinos were arrested on Thursday, July 10, 2025 for alleged anti-illegal mining operations in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur. According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Caraga (CIDG-13), the suspects were arrested for allegedly extracting gold and other minerals without permit from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), which violated the Philippine Mining Act (Republic Act 7942). CIDG said the four foreigners were arrested in site 1 and site 3 while the nine Filipinos were arrested in site 2. Seized from sites 1 and 3 were 44 sacks of fine sand with gold traces; five sluice boxes, six generators, 6 excavators, sluice matting, hoses, and pumps; a pickup truck; and fuel containers, fabricated metal basins, among others. Confiscated from site 2 were eight sacks of fine sand with gold; sluice machines, matting, electric and hydraulic pumps, solar lights, and excavators; and gallons of fuel and related tools used for gold processing. All the items seized have an estimated value of nearly P8 million. 'This accomplishment affirms CIDG's unwavering commitment under OPLAN KALIKASAN to protect our environment, uphold the law, and put an end to illegal mining operations in the Caraga Region,' CIDG-13 said.

Alleged rebel leader with multiple warrants nabbed
An alleged leader of the New People's Army (NPA) with multiple arrest warrants was arrested in Barangay Bunyasan, Malimono, Surigao del Norte. According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the suspect identified as alias 'Luca' was arrested by virtue of seven warrants for murder, attempted murder, frustrated murder, homicide, multiple attempted murder, attempted homicide, homicide, and malicious mischief under the Revised Penal Code. The warrants were issued by the courts in Surigao City, Agusan del Norte, and Cabadbaran City. CIDG said the suspect allegedly served as the vice squad leader of Platoon 1, Squad 2 of the NPA and a member of the Guerilla Front 16C, Southern Regional Sentro de Grabidad Westland. He was also tagged as number five most wanted person in Caraga. 'With his arrest, we significantly helped the victims attain the justice they all deserved; and we prevented the possible crimes he will commit and the terror he may sow may sow in the community,' CIDG Acting Director, Brigadier General Romeo Macapaz, said.

CIDG: 9 Chinese arrested over human trafficking in Cebu
'Investigation revealed that the rescued female victim and other Filipino workers of the alleged guerrilla POGO and scam hub were detained against their will, forced to work, and were not allowed to leave the house where they were working for the scam,' the CIDG said. Nine Chinese were arrested at an alleged Philippine offshore gaming operation and scam hub in Mandaue City, Cebu, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police said on Friday. The CIDG said the suspects were arrested for alleged human trafficking at the establishment inside a subdivision in Barangay Alang-alang on Wednesday. The raid on the POGO hub was launched after a Filipino victim asked to be rescued. 'Investigation revealed that the rescued female victim and other Filipino workers of the alleged guerrilla POGO and scam hub were detained against their will, forced to work, and were not allowed to leave the house where they were working for the scam,' the CIDG said. The arrested Chinese suspects failed to present passports and valid documents supporting their stay or work in the Philippines, according to the CIDG. Seized from the raid were various electronic devices, including 21 desktop computers, 40 cellular phones, one tablet, and electronic accessories, which were turned over to the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 7 for forensic examination. The suspects will be facing complaints for the violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 as amended by the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 and 2022, as well as immigration laws. 'This successful operation underscores the National Government's and PNP CIDG's intensified efforts against illegal POGOs and [internet gaming licensees], pursuant to Executive Order Number 74,' CIDG chief Police Brigadier General Romeo J. Macapaz said. 'Rest assured that your CIDG is unyielding in catching and cracking down on individuals and syndicates, local or foreign nationals, who are involved in all types of crimes in the country, including trafficking in persons and illegal operations of POGOs/IGLs,' he added.
