Marseille reach agreement with Lens over Facundo Medina transfer
Olympique de Marseille have reached an agreement with RC Lens regarding the transfer of Facundo Medina (26), according to a report from L'Équipe. Negotiations between the two clubs have been ongoing for several weeks. OM, despite finishing second last season, saw the defensive sector as an area in need of improvement heading into the upcoming campaign. England youth international CJ Egan-Riley has already joined the club on a free transfer and another player is now set to arrive. Advertisement As per L'Équipe, OM have agreed a fee of €22m with Lens. That figure includes bonuses. After negotiations accelerated in recent hours and an agreement subsequently found, the Argentina international is expected in Marseille on Tuesday in order to undergo a medical. Should Medina pass the medical, he will then sign a five-year deal with Les Phocéens. At the heart of the defence, he would link up with international teammate and OM captain Leonardo Balerdi. Marseille make contact with Sikou Niakaté's entourage
According to a report from L'Équipe, Olympique de Marseille have made contact with SC Braga centre-back Sikou Niakaté's (25) entourage as they sound out a move for the Mali international. Despite the arrival of CJ Egan-Riley (22) on a free transfer from Burnley FC, Marseille's goals in this transfer window remain the same. The club are looking to add two experienced centre-backs to the side to help shore up a defence that was far too porous last season (conceding 47 in Ligue 1, the second worst record in the top half of the table). Advertisement This has led Les Phocéens to consider several targets, namely Facundo Medina and Nayef Aguerd, but also Benoît Badiashile, Oscar Mingueza, and Ramy Bensebaini. This list also includes Niakaté, who is under contract in Portugal until 2028, but the club would be willing to sell him this summer for between €8 million and €11 million, according to information from L'Équipe. Burnley 'need to do serious business' - fan views on deadline day
We asked for your views on whether Burnley need to act urgently in the transfer market as the first of the two windows this summer closes on are some of your comments:William: We have a decent squad, some of the extremities can hopefully be sold; the likes of Mike Tresor, Michael Obafemi, Hannes Delcroix and Darko Churlinov. We have decent players returning from loan, such as the likes of Zeki Amdouni and Hjalmar Ekdal, who would be decent replacements for what might be the departing Josh Brownhill and CJ Egan-Riley.I think our main two foci should be keeping what we have and signing a new striker. We got away with Brownhill being top scorer in the Championship, but it won't fly in the Premier League. The club needs to do serious business to get a, preferably proven, 20-goal-per season striker if they want to remain in the top flight next We need to sign a striker before this window closes but don't know who. I know I don't want Jamie Vardy - he is past it If we lose our central defensive partnership from last season - CJ Egan-Riley and Maxime Esteve - which is looking likely, we will struggle to get replacements good enough for the Premier League.
