(HT Archive) Chaired by MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, the GRC comprises four members: Ravinder Yadav, additional commissioner and member secretary; Vishal, joint commissioner-II; Dr Siddharth S Khandelwal, district town planner; and Dr Anita Phalswal, an expert with the MCG. The committee has been directed to address grievances on a daily basis and submit weekly reports to the commissioner. 'The committee is mandated to address and resolve grievances on a daily basis, submitting a detailed weekly report to the Commissioner,' Dahiya said, adding that any laxity in dealing with complaints would be taken seriously. The cell will handle grievances lodged through a wide range of platforms, including CM Window, PM Window, Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAM), Jan Samvaad, Social Media Grievance Tracker (SMGT), Sameer Portal, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) integrated command and control centre (ICCC), Auto Appeal System (AAS), Swachh City/Swachhta App, Swachh Haryana App (GRS), Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), and Samadhan Shivir. MCG officials said the GRC will help reduce complaint response time, eliminate coordination gaps between departments, and provide timely updates to citizens. 'The idea is not only to respond but to ensure that public faith in civic functioning improves substantially,' an official said. The cell is also expected to help track recurring complaints across wards and enable long-term fixes, especially related to sanitation, encroachments, water supply, and civic infrastructure.

MCG chief orders strict grievance redress, crackdown on encroachments

Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) commissioner Pradeep Dahiya on Tuesday issued firm directions to all departments to ensure prompt redressal of public grievances, enhance transparency, and take strict action against encroachments across the city. The directives were issued during a high-level review meeting with senior civic officials. Dahiya reiterated that accountability, transparency, and strict monitoring would be central to strengthening service delivery and civic order in Gurugram (HT Photo) 'Every problem has a solution if approached with the right process and dedication. Public grievances cannot be ignored under any circumstances,' said Dahiya, stressing that resolving citizen complaints must remain the civic body's top priority. The meeting reviewed complaints received from multiple platforms, including the GMDA Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) portal, PM Window, CM Window, Sameer Portal, Social Media Grievance Tracker (SMGT), and the Swachh City Portal. Dahiya directed that once complaints are resolved, the status must be promptly updated on the respective portals to ensure accountability and build public trust. Joint commissioners and the chief engineer have been assigned to monitor compliance. The commissioner instructed zonal and enforcement teams to conduct regular field inspections to identify unresolved complaints and prevent civic violations. 'Many complaints are recurring, especially regarding sanitation, potholes, and unauthorised street vendors. Teams should be proactive in identifying such issues before they are formally reported,' he added. Dahiya reiterated that accountability, transparency, and strict monitoring would be central to strengthening service delivery and civic order in Gurugram. Highlighting enforcement, the commissioner also called for zero tolerance towards encroachments. 'Encroachments cause inconvenience and compromise public safety. There will be no leniency towards illegal structures or encroachers,' he said, directing that footpaths, roads, markets, and public spaces be kept encroachment-free. Further, officials have been asked to prioritise grievances raised during Jan Samvad events, Samadhan Shivirs, SMGT, and CM Window initiatives. 'These platforms serve as direct channels for citizens to communicate their concerns. Prompt resolution not only improves administrative efficiency but also enhances citizen satisfaction,' Dahiya said.

Unqualified doctor performed more than 50 cardiac procedures in now closed Faridabad centre

Chandigarh: A fake cardiologist allegedly performed more than 50 heart procedures at a now-defunct cardiac care centre in Haryana's Faridabad, exposing serious lapses in medical oversight and triggering a criminal investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Sources claimed that the impostor — referred to as a 'Munnabhai' doctor, in reference to the Bollywood character known for posing as a doctor fraudulently — was in fact a general medical practitioner. He is accused of faking the identity and registration number of a real cardiac specialist who shares the same name and practises in Faridabad. A private operator running the cardiac care centre had hired the bogus doctor under a public-private partnership (PPP) model at the civil hospital in Faridabad. Authorities concened say he began working at the centre in July 2023, and was involved in a growing number of procedures before the scandal came to light when several of his patients failed to recover and began returning for follow-ups — only to find that he had stopped showing up. Concerned attendants used the registration number he had been operating under, 28482, to contact the actual cardiologist, who held a different registration number, 2456, and had no connection with the centre. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Authorities have identified at least 50 patients, so far, as having undergone procedures by the impostor. Some have submitted complaints through the CM Window, the Haryana chief minister's grievance portal. The cardiac centre, which had scaled down operations already, was shut down formally in Feb under a health department action. Further scrutiny revealed that govt payments under public health schemes to the centre had been suspended previously due to earlier red flags. A company official associated with the group HR said: "We came to know about this through during the police investigation into some complaint. Police are yet to share their findings with us. Once we have those, we shall also lodge a formal complaint against the doctor. Rest, he was sacked upon failing to respond to our show-cause notices." Flatline of trust While Dr Manish Bansal, Haryana's director general of health services, declined to comment, Faridabad civil surgeon Dr Jayant Ahuja said the matter was under ACB investigation and pointed out that a private agency, not the health department, handled recruitment. The incident has raised serious concerns about medical credential verification and private sector accountability within public health partnerships in the country. The move comes amid rising complaints of unauthorised construction and illegal commercial activities in licensed residential colonies. The surge in complaints has been seen through district town planner (enforcement) office, CM Window and public grievance camps. Most complaints involve homebuyers converting stilt parking into rooms, constructing unauthorised structures in open spaces and even building five to seven-storey buildings without sanctioned plans. In several cases, basements were illegally developed or used for commercial purposes. While announcing "a targeted enforcement drive", DTCP officials said they would address residents' complaints, conduct on-the-spot inspections and issue show-cause notices on the same day. The focus areas include prominent colonies such as DLF 1 to 5, Sushant Lok 1, 2 and 3, South City 1 and 2, Malibu Towne, Palam Vihar, Vatika India Next, Greenwood City, Nirvana Country and Bestech Amstoria, among others. After receiving a notice, property owners will be given 15 days to submit a response. If found unsatisfactory or if illegal construction is not removed within seven days after notice expiry, sealing proceedings will be initiated. District town planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia, confirmed that the department took serious note of illegal extensions, misuse of stilt areas, basement constructions and residential properties being used for commercial purposes like showrooms, restaurants, grocery shops and guest houses. Madholia said, "Every camp will include a planning assistant, junior engineer and assistant town planner. Complaints will be verified on the spot and if violations are found, show-cause notices will be pasted the same day."
