Man charged following break-and-enter, foot pursuit: Summerside Police Services
A 35-year-old man has been charged following an alleged break-and-enter in Summerside, P.E.I.
Summerside Police Services responded to a report of a break-and-enter in progress at Callbeck's Home Hardware on Water Street around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
A store staff member told police CCTV footage showed a masked individual on the property who 'was determined to have forced entry into a warehouse.'
Officers arrived at the store while the suspect was still at the scene.
'Upon police arrival, the suspect fled on foot, leading to a brief foot pursuit. Officers located and arrested the suspect nearby without further incident,' reads a social media post from Summerside Police Service.
Police say the suspect is known to them and was found to be in violation of a court-ordered probation condition prohibiting him from attending Callbeck's Home Hardware.
Curtis Dyment was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 16 to face charges of:
break and enter
possession of break-in instruments
disguise with intent (wearing a mask while committing an indictable offence)
resisting arrest
theft under $5,000
failure to comply with a probation order
