Police: Pineville man on parole arrested after home invasion, arson

The Pineville Police Department has arrested a man accused of barging into an elderly couple's home, raping one of them and then setting the house on fire, all one week after he released from jail while on parole in another case, according to a news release. Calvin Michael Williams Jr., 30, was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center #1 on Wednesday. Online jail records don't reflect any charges other than a parole violation, for which he's being held without bail. The department had issued a plea to the public for help finding the person responsible for the June 20 incident in the 100 block of Hilton Court. "In the course of this violent encounter, the suspect sexually assaulted one of the victims and intentionally set the home on fire, before fleeing the scene." Chief Roy Fore said the "heinous and unspeakable act of violence has deeply impacted our community.
