Cameron Highlands police arrest man suspected of burying baby born to stepsister
KUANTAN, July 18 — Police arrested a young man on suspicion of concealing the birth and death of a baby boy in a hilly area in Kampung Melayu Desa Kayangan in Brinchang, Cameron Highlands, yesterday. Cameron Highlands police chief Supt Azri Ramli said police received information from the suspect's father, who found the baby's body at 10am. 'The suspect's father saw a patch of soil that had been dug up when he was going to the water tank located behind their house in the hilly location. He then stumbled on a white cloth bundle containing the dead baby and called police,' he said when contacted by Bernama today. He said the 19-year-old suspect, who works as a cleaner at a homestay, admitted to burying the remains of the two-day-old baby born to his 21-year-old stepsister. 'Following that, police arrested the man at 5.30pm at his home in Kampung Melayu Desa Kayangan yesterday and seized tools such as hoes and shovels used to dig the ground to bury the baby,' he said. The man has been remanded for four days starting today to assist in investigations under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing the birth and death of a baby. — Bernama

Man United gear from Asean All-Stars match donated to SK Lemoi in CSR initiative
KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 — Public relations agency ShekhinahPR, together with football marketing and management consultancy ProEvents, has donated football equipment used by Manchester United during their match against the Asean All-Stars at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil last month to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Lemoi. In a statement, ShekhinahPR said the agency also presented 15 pairs of brand-new football boots to the school's pupils in support of football development within the Orang Asli community. 'SK Lemoi, a rural school that serves Orang Asli children in Cameron Highlands, Pahang, has its own football team known as The Botaks,' the statement read. ShekhinahPR chief executive officer Christopher Raj said the contribution was part of an ongoing effort to nurture interest in sports among children in remote areas. 'We believe sport can be a catalyst for life-changing opportunities. Through this contribution, we hope to inspire and motivate Orang Asli children to stay active and pursue their passion for football,' he said. 'Seeing the joy on their faces as they received the football boots and gear previously used by Manchester United was truly heartwarming,' he added. Christopher also reaffirmed ShekhinahPR's commitment to grassroots development, especially in underserved rural communities. He said the agency has consistently supported SK Lemoi through donations of sports equipment and team jerseys, with the most recent contribution made in March. — Bernama
