'I tried world's rarest honey and price was as astounding as the taste'

A food reviewer who loves trying expensive and unique items has tasted the 'world's rarest' honey after finding it in Harrods, and issued his verdict on the pricey condiment When it comes to shopping, many of us like to treat ourselves every now and then to something a little more luxurious. For some of us it might be new clothes, others love to buy new games, and many love to indulge in luxury food items. But would you go as far to pay a fortune for pure honey? One man recently spent a fortune on the "world's most expensive" jar of honey - which is sold in Harrods - and has shared his honest thoughts on whether the product is worth it or not. The rare Turkish honey, by Elvish, was harvested in the remote mountains of Artvin. ‌ The honey is so valuable and rare because of the extreme conditions in which it is made. The bees that produce the honey belong to an endangered subspecies known as 'Apis mellifer causasica'. Harvesting is a gruelling task; teams have to go on an eight-hour journey through the mountains to extract it from a cave in Scaricayir Valley. ‌ The company said: "Elvish honey is harvested using 4,000-year-old techniques passed down through Laz culture. We use traditional Blackhives (Karakovan) made from hollowed linden trees, where beekeepers do not interfere with the natural life cycle of the colony. The queen bee is never replaced artificially. If she dies, the entire hive may perish - making each jar of honey the result of a fully natural and uncontrollable process." According to Elvish's website, the hive produces only 10 to 12kg of honey per year. The product is sold in Harrods, in a fancy black box which comes with a decanter, a beautiful bottle, and a wooden spoon. But many cannot get passed the price, as it is sold for a staggering £1,250. Popular London food reviewer Carmie Sellitto, better known as @touchdaylight on TikTok, loves trying expensive and unique products around the world. So, of course he had to give the honey a go. Sharing his review, Carmie said: "I am going to be so real with you guys, I spent so much money on this... let's take a look." He couldn't believe it when he opened the box and found the honey "in its own brief case." Carmie added: "I genuinely cannot believe this is in my presence right now. It's not just honey, it's the most rare honey in the world. Formed in Turkey, no humans even touch it. It's like the gold of all honey. This is so rare." ‌ He said it "smells like gold." Carmie poured the honey onto the wooden spoon and was amazed by how smooth it looked. ‌ According to Elvish's website, the product is best to enjoy on an empty stomach. However, Carmie decided not to honour this suggestion, deciding instead to pour the honey over some McDonald's chicken nuggets. He said: "There are absolutely no words to describe how unreal that just tasted. I need 25 more bottles of this. I've never experienced anything like this. This is by far the best thing I've tried on my food journey." Commenting on the video, one person said: "Evlish honey looks amazing." ‌ But others weren't so sure. "Why would anyone spend £1250 on honey?" questioned one. "What a stupid waste of money," declared another. One other said: "I buy local honey from where I live, extracted from the hive, fresh every morning. £8.99. That will do for me." Another shared: "I get the most incredible honey for free from my neighbours. Beautiful, light, fragrant honey."

Man spends £850 to try £225 Louis Vuitton chocolate bag

Carmie Sellitto, 26, spotted the limited-edition treat on his Instagram explore page and became determined to be among the first to review it. The designer dessert is part of a collaboration between Louis Vuitton and celebrated pastry chef Frédéric Bau and is only available in Paris, New York, Singapore and Shanghai. Carmie had to fork out £500 to secure an appointment at Louis Vuitton's café in Paris, where the handmade dessert is exclusively sold. He also bought last-minute Eurostar tickets to the French capital for £350. Carmie, a content creator from Shepherd's Bush, London: "I'd never seen anyone else film a video trying it, so I wanted to be the first. "It was absolutely worth the money. "I enjoyed every single bite of it. "I wouldn't be surprised if they sold it for £500 just because how unique it was." The chocolate egg, weighing a hefty 1.5kg, came in a huge Louis Vuitton bag, which Carmie carried across Paris and back to London with extreme care. Carmie said: 'Carrying it back gave me so much anxiety. "I was so on edge the whole way home. "If it broke before I could film it, all that effort would've been for nothing.' The item cost £225. (Image: SWNS) Carmie, who is known for trying pricey and viral luxury food, said the chocolate exceeded expectations – both in taste and detail. He said: "There was a zip design on it and when you ran your finger over it, it felt like you could actually unzip it. "You could even feel the Louis Vuitton logo with your tongue. "The chocolate had a hazelnut praline filling and the shell had the most satisfying crunch. "It might've been the placebo effect from how much I spent but it genuinely was one of the best chocolates I've ever had." Recommended Reading While the chocolate bag itself cost £225, Carmie ended up spending nearly four times that amount between the booking fee and travel costs. He said: 'When I told the Louis Vuitton staff I came from London just for the chocolate and they looked at me like I was crazy. "But after the video went live, they actually reached out and thanked me. "It was really sweet."

'I bought water from one of world's priciest shops and was floored by cost'

A man has shared his thoughts after buying a bottle of water and some ice from Erewhon, one of the world's most expensive supermarkets, and people cannot believe the price Who would fork out a hefty sum for the crème de la crème of crystal-clear iced water? A food critic dared to splash £60 at one of the globe's priciest supermarkets to give us the lowdown. We all fancy a little indulgence every once in a while - whether it's a pampering spa day, a night out or finally purchasing that long-coveted item. For many, shelling out on top-notch food supplies is the ultimate luxury. For us Brits, Marks and Spencer or Waitrose are the go-to choices for high-end groceries, but stateside, Erewhon Market is where the posh nosh is at. With its branches scattered across California, it's also a prime celebrity spot. Carmie Sellitto, famed for his eccentric food reviews, decided to put the bottled water and circle ice cubes offered at this lavish grocer to the test, documenting his findings on TikTok to an audience of nearly a million followers. ‌ Carmie declared: "Trying the £60 water from Erewhon. Believe it or not they're selling ice for £35 and water for £25." Flashing the gigantic ice blocks – big as a baseball – Carmie queried: "Like, what is this?" ‌ After plopping one ice block into an Erewhon emblazoned mug with some Ophora water, he took a gulp. Wrapping up his take on it, Carmie remarked: "You know what, it just tastes expensive, it really does." One of his mates gave it a go as well, remarking: "That was nice mate." The review sparked a flurry of comments. One user quipped: "I'm convinced Erewhon is a social experiment,". Another chimed in with: "Erwon is a lovely shopping experience. Buy what you can afford. It's a nice atmosphere there." ‌ A shocked commenter exclaimed: "60 pounds for water and ice? That's 81 dollars American! That is such a waste of money." Another added: "This is going way too far now. Someone else questioned: "How can they sell water at this price?" "Even if I was a billionaire, I wouldn't fall for this scam," one person insisted. ‌ Another lamented: "This one makes me sad. It's just wrong on every level." However, one defender of the pricey beverage said: "It's really good, so much better than normal water, a lot of people commenting haven't actually tried it. I think it's 100% worth it, if anything it's under priced." Some pointed out that the presentation was lacking. "You ruined it in the plastic cup," one person noted. Another commented: "£60 and they give you a plastic cup. "Needs a crystal glass," one other insisted.

'I tried McDonald's in Japan and it's so different – one menu item left me gobsmacked'

McDonald's menus are different around the world, catering to the tastes and local traditions in every country – one travel and food fan has shared his verdict on McDonald's Japan A Brit has been left stunned by the menu items on offer at McDonald's in Japan following a recent visit - and he cannot believe how different it is to the UK. When we travel abroad, many of us typically try out the local cuisines and avoid food spots that we can easily get at home. But often some of our favourite big name brands offer different menus in different countries. McDonald's menus vary by location to reflect local tastes and traditions. Food lover Carmie Selitto, who has become a go-to for many who want to see food reviews, has taken a recent trip to Japan. He stopped by a McDonalds and said he was "really surprised" by what was on the menu - and has shared his verdict. ‌ The reviewer, better known as @touchdalight on TikTok and boasts just short of one million followers, said: "Trying McDonald's in Japan, let's see how it compares to the UK. I'm going to try basically the whole menu. I've got so many things I've never seen before." ‌ On first impressions, he was wowed by the packaging. "It looks so sick," he said. He tried the Gohan Chicken Tatsuta burger which has boiled rice cake as the top bun. "This feels so strange," Carmie said. "I've never seen anything like this before," he added and offered it a rating of 5/10. He also tried the Baj Teriyaki McBurger and said he has "never tasted anything like it", offering it a score of 6/10. The food reviewer then ordered another unique menu item - the Roasted Soy Sauce Egg and Bacon Thick Beef burger and offered it a rating of 8/10. He admitted he was "scared" to tuck into the Teriyaki Chicken Filet-O. "I think it's like a mixture between chicken and fish," he noted before trying the treat. Stunned by how it tasted, Carmie concluded: "That's unreal, this is the best one I've tried so far." He insisted it deserves a 10/10 rating. Drinks wise, he tried the Matcha Iced Frappe - another item unavailable in the UK - and said it is "unreal". "I've never had iced frappe matcha my God, that's getting a 10/10." Carmie was also impressed by the different sauces he could get, but he did not approve of the Japanese McChicken Nuggets. Carmie concluded his tasting session, and said: "Japanese McDonald's is crazy, overall I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10." ‌ "Stop I wanna try that matcha drink so bad," commented one individual on the viral video. "The matcha iced frappe is so good!," agreed another. One other wrote: "I wasn't expecting that either! The unique twist on McDonald s in Japan is definitely interesting." Someone else commented: "Oh, I need to try this once I visit Japan!" It it not just Japan that offers special menu items; in Singapore, you can get your hands on a nasi lemak burger, while the Italian McDonald's menu includes authentic parmiggiano reggiano. In The Netherlands there is a McKroket on the menu – a fried ragout patty with mustard on a bun. McDonald's said: "We try to adapt our menu to reflect different tastes and local traditions for every country in which we have restaurants. We're keen to respect cultural differences and so every country has its own policy of developing menu items." If you have a food related story, get in touch at
