Global football stars and sports fans are in shock after the death of Liverpool star Diogo Jota in a car accident in Spain.
Spanish press reports revealed new details about the death of Portuguese Diogo Jota, the Liverpool star who also played for Egypt's Mohamed Salah, and his brother in the early hours of this morning, following a horrific car accident in the province of Zamora, northwest Spain.
The Catalan newspaper, "Catalunya Drari," reported, "According to emergency services in Castilla y León, the Lamborghini Jota was driving went off the road after a tire burst at high speed, causing it to swerve and crash, before catching fire."

The newspaper added, "The tragedy occurred around 12:40 a.m. The car was heading towards Galicia, at kilometer 65. The driver lost control. Initial investigations indicate a tire failure, which may have caused the car to swerve off the road."
The newspaper continued, "Sources familiar with the investigation confirmed that no other vehicles were involved. All indications indicate that it was a single-vehicle accident, while the car was completely burned. Authorities are still working to uncover all the details of the accident."
The Spanish newspaper, "Marca," reported that the horrific accident occurred near the municipality of Palacios de Sanabria, when the car Jota, the Liverpool player, was driving with his brother, swerved. Andre, 26, also a footballer, veered off the road, causing the vehicle to crash and burst into flames. Citing eyewitnesses, the Spanish newspaper added that the flames quickly engulfed the vehicle and spread to the surrounding vegetation, complicating the rescue operation.
Diogo Jota, 28, joined Liverpool in 2020 from Wolverhampton for €44.7 million. Since then, he has made 182 appearances for the Reds, scoring 65 goals and providing 26 assists.
During that time, he has won three titles with Liverpool: the Premier League (2024-25), the FA Cup (2021-22), and the League Cup (2021-22).
