Global football stars and sports fans are in shock after the death of Liverpool star Diogo Jota in a car accident in Spain.
Spanish press reports revealed new details about the death of Portuguese Diogo Jota, the Liverpool star who also played for Egypt's Mohamed Salah, and his brother in the early hours of this morning, following a horrific car accident in the province of Zamora, northwest Spain.
The Catalan newspaper, "Catalunya Drari," reported, "According to emergency services in Castilla y León, the Lamborghini Jota was driving went off the road after a tire burst at high speed, causing it to swerve and crash, before catching fire."

The newspaper added, "The tragedy occurred around 12:40 a.m. The car was heading towards Galicia, at kilometer 65. The driver lost control. Initial investigations indicate a tire failure, which may have caused the car to swerve off the road."
The newspaper continued, "Sources familiar with the investigation confirmed that no other vehicles were involved. All indications indicate that it was a single-vehicle accident, while the car was completely burned. Authorities are still working to uncover all the details of the accident."
The Spanish newspaper, "Marca," reported that the horrific accident occurred near the municipality of Palacios de Sanabria, when the car Jota, the Liverpool player, was driving with his brother, swerved. Andre, 26, also a footballer, veered off the road, causing the vehicle to crash and burst into flames. Citing eyewitnesses, the Spanish newspaper added that the flames quickly engulfed the vehicle and spread to the surrounding vegetation, complicating the rescue operation.
Diogo Jota, 28, joined Liverpool in 2020 from Wolverhampton for €44.7 million. Since then, he has made 182 appearances for the Reds, scoring 65 goals and providing 26 assists.
During that time, he has won three titles with Liverpool: the Premier League (2024-25), the FA Cup (2021-22), and the League Cup (2021-22).

Liverpool players join family of Diogo Jota and his brother for funeral held in Portugal - World
Liverpool players joined family and friends for the funeral of their teammate Diogo Jota and his brother on Saturday, two days after the siblings died in a car crash in Spain. The service will be held at Igreja Matriz church in the Portuguese town of Gondomar, where Jota had a home. Portugal's national team coach Roberto Martínez and several top Portuguese players also attended, including Manchester City duo Bernardo Silva and Rúben Dias and Manchester United's Bruno Fernándes. Jota, 28, and his brother, André Silva, 25, were found dead near Zamora in northwestern Spain early Thursday after the Lamborghini they were driving crashed on an isolated stretch of highway just after midnight on Thursday and burst into flames. The brothers were reportedly heading to catch a boat from northern Spain to go to England where Jota was to rejoin with Liverpool after a summer break. Spanish police are investigating the cause of the crash, which did not involve another vehicle, they said. They said they believe it could have been caused by a blown tire. Their bodies were repatriated to Portugal after being identified by the family. A wake was held for them on Friday. Jota's death occurred two weeks after he married long-time partner Rute Cardoso while on vacation from a long season where he helped Liverpool win the Premier League. The couple had three children, the youngest born last year. Jota was born in Porto but started his playing career as a child on nearby Gondomar. Silva played for Portuguese club Penafiel in the lower divisions. Their loss led to an outpouring of condolences from the soccer world and Portuguese officials. Brazil starlet Estevao 'ready' for Chelsea move: Palmeiras coach
Estevao, 18, scored a fantastic equaliser in the Club World Cup quarter-final between the teams in Philadelphia but could not prevent Chelsea claiming a 2-1 win thanks to a late own-goal. He will now complete a move to the London club, finally heading to England just over a year after Chelsea agreed to pay Palmeiras a reported 57 million euros ($67.1m), including bonuses, for him. "I don't have sons, I have two daughters, but he is my son," Ferreira said after the match at Lincoln Financial Field, adding that he had exchanged words with Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca about Estevao. Mbappe missed all three group matches at the tournament with a stomach bug but returned as a substitute when Madrid edged Juventus 1-0 to reach the last eight.
