Ipswich sign Reims defender Kipre on loan
Ipswich Town have signed defender Cedric Kipre on a season-long loan from French club 28-year-old has plenty of experience of English football with Leicester, Wigan, West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City, the latter a loan spell in Ivory Coast international made 28 appearances for Reims last season after joining them from West Brom. The Ligue 2 club say that the loan agreement with Ipswich includes an option to buy."I spoke with the manager and I really liked what he said about the way he wants to work," Kipre told the club website. "He wants to work hard – I also want to work hard."Ipswich begin the new Championship season, following relegation from the Premier League, with an away game against Birmingham City on Friday, 8 August.

Metz held by Reims in Ligue 1 play-off first leg
Cedric Kipre's second-half header grabbed Reims a 1-1 draw against Metz in the first leg of their Ligue 1 relegation/promotion playoff on Wednesday at the Stade Saint-Symphorien. Matthieu Udol put Metz in front seven minutes before half-time, but Ivorian Kipre flicked in Sergio Akieme's free-kick early in the second period. Advertisement Reims held on to ensure the tie would be level heading into next Thursday's second leg at the Stade Auguste Delaune. Samba Diawara's men are hoping to avoid relegation from the top flight for the first time since being promoted in 2018 after finishing 16th in Ligue 1. Metz -- who were relegated last season after losing the play-off to Saint-Etienne -- reached the final with victory over Dunkerque last week, having blown their automatic promotion hopes with a late collapse to finish third in Ligue 2 behind Paris FC and Lorient. jc/nf

Reims' woeful February continues at Rennes with fourth consecutive loss
RENNES, France (AP) — Rennes beat Reims 1-0 at home in a lackluster Ligue 1 match that was decided in the first 10 minutes with a red card and the goal on Friday. Reims found itself a man down after just three minutes when Cedric Kipre was shown a straight red for a horrible stamp on Welsh midfielder Jordan James. Things got worse very quickly for the visitor when the referee awarded a penalty against it for handball. Arnaud Kalimuendo made no mistake from the spot with his 11th goal in 22 league appearances. Although the home side looked more likely to score there was little goalmouth action thereafter, even after Reims went down to nine men in the final minutes when Hafiz Ibrahim was shown a second yellow card. The result left Reims without a win in 12 league games, a run that stretches back to Nov. 10. It has lost all four games so far in February and sits in 14th place in Ligue 1, four points above the relegation zone. Rennes climbd two places into 11th. ___
