Niece swindled aunt and uncle out of £150k life savings to splash out on 5* hotel stays and swish designer clothes
The couple insist they still love their niece despite her shocking betrayal SICK SCHEME Niece swindled aunt and uncle out of £150k life savings to splash out on 5* hotel stays and swish designer clothes A NIECE swindled her elderly aunt and uncle out of their £150,000 life savings to fund her lavish lifestyle. Lucy Paginton funded luxury holidays and trips to five star hotels using money she had pilfered from relatives Frank Hillier, 88, and Mary, 90. 4 Lucy Paginton, 28, targeted her uncle Jack Hillier, 88, and aunt Mary, 90 Credit: WNS 4 The mum-of-one spent time at the five-star Celtic Manor resort in Newport Credit: Getty The 28-year-old, of Newport, South Wales, was raised by the couple "like a daughter" since the age of two. Cardiff Crown Court heard they spoiled her throughout her life, forking out on holidays, buying her gifts and leasing cars on her behalf. Pensioner Mrs Hillier told how both her and her husband had become "unwell" dealing with the stress and upset after the shocking betrayal. The mum-of-one spent time at the five-star Celtic Manor resort in Newport and funded trips to high-end designer store Flannels. Read more News LOVE OR MONEY Secret lovechild WINS bid to keep half of millionaire toymaker dad's fortune In 2017, Paginton asked her aunt and uncle for their help to buy a house. But rather than using the money to put down a deposit, she kept the money they had given her. To continue her deception, Paginton then forged several documents including correspondence from Halifax bank and Redrow house builders. Prosecutor Thomas Stanway told the court: "A plan was agreed that they would pay the deposits for two properties. "Paginton would live in one house and her aunt and uncle in the other. "The property the Hilliers lived in would then pass over to her after they had died. "When one considers Miss Paginton's bank statements one can see that in effect the payments were simply made to fund her lifestyle. "There were visits to the Celtic Manor Resort, payments to Flannels, a high-end designer clothing shop. My disabled mum said she was in love with US soldier but she'd actually given conman £169k - she's one of 1,000s of Brits being targeted "There were also payments to various travel companies noted within her bank statements." In a victim impact statement, Mrs Hillier told how the betrayal had hurt more because the couple had showed Paginton "so much love". She said: "It hurts because she lied to us and we showed her so much love, gave her holidays, money and she never went without. "We were willing to buy her a house but she decided to steal from us instead. "It's affected my mental health and my husband's physical and mental health. "Every night going to bed I find it difficult to sleep and we're constantly worried about the case. "The stress of it all has made us unwell." The court heard she had gained £150,555 from her fraud. 4 Following a ruling at Cardiff Crown Court, Paginton was ordered to pay just £1 because she had no available assets Credit: Getty But at a Proceeds of Crime hearing, Paginton was ordered to pay just £1 because she had no available assets. Mrs Hillier explained that the couple made sure their niece didn't get away with her crimes, but insisted they still loved her. She added: "We have lost everything we have worked hard for and family have distanced themselves from us. "We couldn't let her get away with this and can't believe she did this. "We still love the defendant but she hurt us and broke our trust. "We hope to get justice from this case and make Lucy realise the consequences of her actions. She was jailed for four years and eight months in January after pleading guilty to seven counts of fraud at Newport Crown Court. During her sentencing, Judge Carl Harrison said: "Your victims thought highly of you, they trusted you and they loved you. "It was that love and trust that led them to falling victim to your repeated dishonest behaviour. "For four years you cynically and repeatedly abused the trust that Frank and Mary Hillier placed in you to enrich yourself and defraud them. "They described it as being a living hell. They are an elderly couple who should be looking forward to their future. "Their lives have been ruined by your selfish actions."

Liam and Noel ‘staying in separate hotels' on Oasis tour
Noel and Liam Gallagher stayed at different hotels 20 miles apart on the first two nights of the Oasis reunion tour, it has been claimed. The Oasis frontmen put years of mutual animosity behind them to perform together in Cardiff on Friday and Saturday to 75,000 fans at the Principality Stadium. After the gigs ended, however, the brothers travelled to separate hotels, MailOnline reported. When Oasis's two-hour long gig ended on Friday night, Liam left the stage immediately and got into a black SUV. Noel, meanwhile, remained on the stage and waved to fans before walking off with the rest of the band. Liam, 52, is said to have booked the Celtic Manor Resort, which is located on the edge of Newport. Meanwhile, Noel, 58, stayed at the Parkgate Hotel, a four-star venue next to the Principality Stadium. Last month, the hotel suggested on TikTok it might be hosting one of the brothers. 'Rumour has it a certain rock 'n' roll star is checking in ahead of the big gig at the Principality,' a spokesman said at the time. He is said to have stayed at the hotel with his daughter, Anaïs Gallagher, a 25-year-old model who also attended the gig. It is unclear whether the brothers' separate hotel bookings were down to tensions in the band. 'The atmosphere was absolutely electric and Liam and Noel were delighted with the first night,' a source told The Sun on Sunday. 'They were a bit shell-shocked. It went better than anyone could have imagined. The lead-up has all been carefully orchestrated, as everyone knows how delicate and fragile Liam and Noel's relationship is. 'They don't want to over-expose themselves to each other. Having separate residences is the best option so they can relax in their own space.' Speaking to The Mail on Sunday, however, another source said: 'They can't stand each other because they still have not forgiven each other. It's all very frosty and awkward. We all doubt they'll make it to Australia at this rate.' As the show began shortly after 8pm, the Gallagher brothers walked onstage side-by-side before clasping their hands together in the air. For the rest of the set, however, the pair stood about 30ft apart and interacted little. Oasis broke up in 2009 after a backstage altercation between Noel and Liam at the Rock en Seine festival near Paris. In the years since, the former bandmates traded insults in public, with Liam deriding his brother as a 'potato'. Last August, they announced that 'the guns have fallen silent' and that they would reform to play a tour in 2025. Its 41 sold-out shows will see the band appear in Britain, America, Australia and South America. According to analysis by Birmingham City University, it could make Oasis £400 million from ticket sales and merchandise.

'Liam's clean-living is working wonders too. 'Everyone's been really impressed — they're determined to stay focused on making the magic happen on stage.' The brothers sent fans wild with a set list including classics such as Stand by Me, Wonderwall, Live Forever and Half The World Away — which was used as the theme for TV sitcom The Royle Family. And they are determined to keep up standards. The source added: 'Debbie protects him from all the hype so he doesn't get carried away. 'They've swapped out Guinness for zero per cent alcohol beers and keep the vibe backstage as chilled as possible.' A source revealed: 'It was a special and emotional night for their kids as they didn't think they'd see their dads performing as Oasis again after their bitter feuding. And yesterday at around 6.30pm a grey Land Rover with a police escort of four officers on motorbikes was seen leaving the five-star Celtic Manor resort. Both hotels are part of the Celtic Collection franchise. As well as the main hotel, Celtic Manor boasts a number of private lodges. Then US President Barack Obama stayed in one in 2014. The hotel's 18-hole golf course has hosted the Ryder Cup. The brothers' fellow band member Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, Gem Archer, Cardiff-born Andy Bell and American drummer Joey Waronker are also joining the brothers on their clean-living tour regime. An unforgettable experience and a dream come true. One to tell the grandkids. Harry Bruce Back at the stadium, a secret after-party drew celebs including Danny Dyer, Louis Tomlinson, Cara Delevingne, Anya Taylor-Joy and Kasabian rocker Sergio Pizzorno. Welsh rugby ace Alun Wyn Jones was also there, along with Gavin and Stacey's Rob Brydon and Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis had been spotted watching the curtain-raiser from the VIP seats, leading some to speculate she is trying to book the band to star at the festival in 2027. As well as the 74,500 at the stadium, more than 1.3million fans watched live streams — with around 750,000 people tuning in on YouTube and a further 550,000 on TikTok and Instagram. Fans lucky enough to get tickets for the gig were blown away. Harry Bruce, 25, from Glasgow, came with friends Oliver Cheetham, 20, from Sheffield, and Max Vince, 24, from Southampton. Harry told The Sun on Sunday: 'The atmosphere prior to the gig was something to rival a European football final — it was sensational. 'People from all over the country, of all ages coming together belting out tune after tune. An unforgettable experience and a dream come true. One to tell the grandkids.' 6 Noel's daughter Anais was at the gig Credit: Instagram Oliver said: 'All different types of ages and faces where all together in unison and I've never experienced anything like it before. 'When Oasis came on and you could hear the rumble of Noel's guitar and Liam's voice it was like an out-of-this-world experience.' Max added: 'Standing there was absolutely incredible and the atmosphere was like nothing I've ever seen before. 'There were grown men and women with tears in their eyes. 'Everyone was getting on so well, I even managed to get on the shoulders of the bloke next to me when Half The World Away came on. There was a buzz the whole evening and it didn't even take too long to get a drink which I was surprised at.' Simon Hunter, 43, travelled from London with fiancée Tara Parkhouse, 42. He said: 'They united an entire nation in Cardiff that spanned generations and gave the crowd something that is almost too incredible to put into words. "Liam, Noel and the band had the entire stadium rocking.' Best Oasis gig the story! By Dominic Mohan, Former Editor of The Sun KENTISH Town 1994. Earl's Court 1995. Maine Road and Knebworth 1996. Now add Cardiff Principality Stadium 2025 to that glimmering list. Friday night's unveiling of the unforeseen Live '25 tour is right up there in the pantheon of classic Oasis shows I've been privileged to witness over the past 31 years. This is the best I've seen Oasis since 1997. I know it's a big call, but I'm making it. Let's analyse why. There is no new material to promote so this was a brazen playlist of Oasis anthems. One of the biggest worries ahead of these shows was Liam's voice. Fear not. His vocals sounded more honed than they have for many years. The outfits are the same and the swagger is still there but his engagement with the audience more courteous and respectful. Outside, it felt like the build-up to a World Cup knockout game. Lager-swilling once-lads dominated proceedings but there were also starry-eyed young men and women seduced by a Gallagher onslaught for the first time. Witnessing the feuding brothers then stepping on to the sweeping stage is something that will live long in the memory, the Cardiff roar heralding the burying of the hatchet. What a moment — and one I felt I had to witness after documenting the highs and lows of Oasis for The Sun, over 30 years. It felt like this was a climax to 16 years of soul-searching since the brothers split. And the climax of Don't Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall, and Champagne Supernova is one of the greatest closing trilogies in modern music. We were left spellbound after witnessing the biggest British rock reunion of all time, likely never to be eclipsed. That's the story.

Son of serial killer Rose West set to marry at famous Wales hotel
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Stephen West, the son of infamous serial killer Rose West, is set to wed his fiancée Emma Bradley this August at the Celtic Manor hotel in Newport. The couple, who recently welcomed their new daughter Eden, have been forging a relationship since Stephen cut ties with his mother, Rose West, who is serving a life sentence and will not meet her granddaughter. Stephen's father, Fred West, was a serial killer responsible for at least 12 murders over two decades, often with the help of Rose, before his death in prison in 1995. Stephen, who grew up in the notorious 'house of horrors' in Gloucester, has previously admitted a chilling similarity to his father, stating: "There's a bit of my dad in me." After nearly three decades behind bars, Rose reportedly abandoned her appeal against her conviction in 2001 and appears resigned to dying in prison. Emma, now a qualified nurse at Gloucester Royal Hospital, has two daughters from a previous relationship. Following news of Rose's deteriorating health and her transfer to a disability-adapted cell in prison "because she can barely walk", Emma revealed that both she and her partner were oblivious to the situation as they had severed ties. (Image: PA) She did, however, acknowledge that she and Stephen, who live together in Abbeymead, Gloucester, watched the recent Netflix series, Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story. Emma said her fiancé "doesn't want to say anything because his main priority is the little ones." She added: "He is adamant, at this time of his life he's got a young family to protect." Stephen, 51, now a grandfather, has been previously married twice and has a total of eight children. A source recently shed light on Rose's daily life in prison. Speaking to The Sun, they said: "She never really leaves the wing she's held on and is escorted all the time by prison officers if she goes anywhere. Sometimes she sits in the communal areas on her own. (Image: "No-one talks to her because everyone knows who she is and what she did, even if she has changed her name. When I was there, she tried to make friends with the other women and gave them gifts, like vapes, but she was rejected. She enjoys watching nature documentaries on the TV in her cell, particularly those about birds." In an attempt to dissociate from her heinous past, West reportedly spent £36 to legally alter her identity to Jennifer Jones. It's believed she executed the name change by deed poll in December, 2024, confiding to acquaintances that it signified her journey forward. Yet, in HMP New Hall near Wakefield in West Yorkshire, her true identity remains common knowledge. She is claimed to frequently eat tomato soup by herself in her cell for breakfast. She then spends the bulk of her day within her cell, knitting and watching television due to her limited mobility. West is currently detained in a specialised section of New Hall called Rivendell House, where 30 inmates are each provided with an en-suite cell and a laptop. This laptop can be used to order food, and the shared spaces are reportedly "more inviting" than other areas of the prison, as noted in inspection reports.
