Centre responded positively to Tourism Bhavan project at Amaravati, says A.P. Minister Kandula Durgesh
Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh on Tuesday asked the officials to broaden their outreach and promote the State's tourism destinations by conducting road shows in cities such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai. Addressing a review meeting, Mr. Durgesh said that the Centre had responded positively to the government's plan to develop a state-of-the-art Tourism Bhavan at Amaravati. He instructed the officials to work towards attracting investments worth ₹25,000 crore to the tourism sector and establish 50,000 hotel rooms across the State. He wanted them to explore the introduction of tent cities and igloo-style accommodations at 22 temple destinations. Stating that the Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was supporting of Andhra Pradesh's tourism plans, he wanted suitable proposals to be prepared for projects at Lepakshi and Lambasingi and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for another four to five projects to tap into Central government schemes like Swadesh Darshan, PRASAD ((Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) and CBDDP (Challenge Based Destination Development Project). Referring to his first field visit to Papikondalu, he said there was a need to develop facilities at Perantalapalli and instructed the officials to expedite arrangements. Akhanda Godavari scheme Pointing to the Centrally-sponsored Akhanda Godavari scheme, he said safety should be paramount on the historic Havelock Bridge. He said he would soon visit the other two Centrally-sponsored projects at Gandikota in Kadapa district and Suryalanka in Bapatla. The Minister reviewed progress of the ongoing projects like the NTR Beach and Uppada Beach near Kakinada and ongoing works under PRASAD initiative at Simhachalam and Annavaram temples. Discussion was held on the development of a Buddhist circuit, covering Thotlakonda, Amaravati, Ghantasala and Nagarjuna Konda. In response to his query on the progress of homestay destinations, the officials informed the Minister that 2,000 homestays had been identified. The Minister announced his plan to visit Prakasam, Nellore and Rayalaseema districts on August 5 and 6 to inspect local projects.

DISHA committee seeks Central probe into Jal Jeevan Mission pipelines in East Godavari
The East Godavari District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) led by Rajamahendravaram Member of Parliament D. Purandeswari on Tuesday decided to ask the Centre to probe into the poor quality of pipelines laid across the district under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JLM). The DISHA committee on Tuesday met for the first time in the current financial year and reviewed the implementation of the Centrally-sponsored prorgrammes and discussed key issues associated with the Central government. The committee comprises MP, MLAs and District Collector. Speaking to the media after the committee meeting, Ms. Purandeswari said: 'MLAs of the respective assembly constituencies have complained about irregularities in the pipelines laid across the district under the Jal Jeevan Mission. We have decided to ask the Centre to probe into the matter.' Market for organic products Ms. Purandeswari also stated that the committee has decided to appeal to the Centre to connect any one of the markets in the district to eNAM (National Agriculture Market), exclusively dedicated for marketing of organic products in the East Godavari district. The committee has further proposed to appeal the centre for the increase in the man-days of work under the NREGA. The respective officials have been given a target to increase the number of Farmers' Producers Organisations (FPO). Currently, there are 10 FPOs in the East Godavari district. The issues discussed in the meeting would be sent to the respective Ministries at the Centre. MLC Somu Veerraju, Rajanagaram MLA Battula Balarama Krishna and other MLAs were present.

Focus is on enhancing diagnostic equipment in government hospitals, says Health Minister
The TDP-led NDA government in the State has evolved an action plan aimed at infusing a sense of discipline among doctors, bringing a change in their conduct towards patients and enhancing diagnostic equipment in government hospitals, according to Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav. Addressing the media in Vijayawada on Saturday (June 7, 2025), the Minister took a jibe at the YSRCP, and said the NDA did not consider people who voted against them as 'back stabbers'. 'We try to fulfil the promises made to the people. We have worked with accountability and responsibility,' he said. Giving an account of the changes in the Primary Health sector, the Minister said, in recognition of the State's efforts in improving the implementation of the Centrally-sponsored schemes at the village level, the Centre sanctioned ₹100 crore for the State towards performance incentive. 'This is not a small thing. During the past five years, the Centre did not give any such incentive,' the Minister said, adding the present government secured funds, to the tune of ₹1,065 crore, from the Centre for construction of 3,318 buildings of Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs in the State. At present, many were being run in rented spaces. Pointing out that timely and reliable diagnostic confirmation of diseases was the first step in ensuring healthcare for all, he said the government procured more than 3,200 diagnostic equipment in the past one year and decided to conduct 47 types of diagnostic tests at the doorstep of the people through the '104' service vehicles. Referring to the Tirumala laddu episode, the Minister said the government was focussing on opening drug testing laboratories in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Kurnool. New labs had been sanctioned for Tirumala, Eluru and Ongole. In line with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's vision of digitising healthcare, the Minister said an MoU had been signed with the Bill Gates Foundation for setting up Digital Health Command and Care Centre, strengthening Telemedicine services, supply chain management for drugs and consumables. Giving numbers as 'stastical evidence' of the change brought in by the present government, he said the attendance of doctors and other medical staff had increased by about 7.42% to 14.20%, OP services increased by about 8%, In-Patient (IP) services saw an improvement of 4% to 17.61%, lab tests saw an increase of 7.20%. He added that various surveys had shown that the public perception regarding availability of doctors in Government General Hospitals, their attitude, supply of free medicines improved. Talking about further plans, the Minister said the universal health insurance of up to ₹25 lakh would be rolled out soon. During an interaction with the mediapersons, the Minister said the COVID situation was not alarming in the State and that there were no restrictions on gathering. 'We have N95 masks, oxygen cylinders, beds, wards ready. However, the situation is not alarming and there is nothing to worry,' he said, adding that only those with comorbidities need to be extra careful. Health Special Chief Secretary M.T. Krishna Babu and Commissioner G. Veerapandian were present.

Focus on infrastructure, tourism, and industry growth for prosperity, Lanka Dinakar tells officials of Parvathipuram Manyam district
Chairman of the Twenty-Point Programme Implementation Committee, Lanka Dinakar, has asked the officials of Parvathipuram Manyam district to promote food/agro and handicraft industries, boost tourism and service sectors and contribute to making the district part of a prosperous 'Swarna Andhra' and 'Viksit Bharat.' Mr. Dinakar reviewed the progress of the Centrally-sponsored schemes, projects and infrastructure development in Parvathipuram Manyam district with District Collector Shyam Prasad and officials from various departments. The review was held with the aim of transforming the district into a 'Developed Parvathipuram Manyam District,' overcoming the challenges in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047' and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's aim of 'Swarna Andhra 2047.' During a review on water management schemes, it was revealed that of the 7,172 farm ponds allocated, only 1,797 (16%) have been completed. With respect to Jal Jeevan Mission, the district failed to meet the goals set by the Centre between 2019–24 due to lack of long-term water sources. It was found that of the 85,002 rural households identified, 46,984 got tap connections but many taps do not have water supply. With respect to PMGSY (Rural Roads Scheme), it was envisaged to take up 47 road projects covering 250.96 km at an estimated cost of ₹241.49 crores of which 30 projects were completed with ₹147.45 crore. 'One project is awaiting forest clearance, while 12 projects are under progress, two have been dropped and another two have not yet started,'' Mr. Dinakar said. Under the PMAY scheme, of the 39,500 homes, 18,600 have been completed while just 14 homes were completed out of 5,853 under PM JANMAN. Mr. Dinakar asked the officials to accelerate the implementation of PM Surya Ghar. He said only 1,167 registrations were done and only 135 units have been installed so far. He said under PM-KUSUM, 115.87 acres of land was identified for 25.75 MW solar generation. He said due to the delay by the previous government, farmers did not get the benefits from PM Crop Insurance Scheme during 2022–24. Mr. Dinakar asked the officials to remove any misconceptions about natural farming among the farming community and said that the State government was also actively promoting the same. During the review, it was revealed that under PM Vishwakarma Yojana, 1,813 applications were received for 18 vocational skills of which 433 were trained, 51 approved for bank loans, and 24 loans disbursed. Mr. Dinakar said 11 waterfalls and three reservoirs have been identified for development of tourism projects in the district.
