IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Cheteshwar Pujara, Wasim Jaffer troll Michael Vaughan for sticking by prediction
Cheteshwar Pujara mocked Michael Vaughan's prediction for India vs England Test series. India cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara playfully mocked ex-England captain Michael Vaughan on social media following India's massive 336-run victory in the second Test at Edgbaston. The exchange occurred after Vaughan maintained his prediction of a 3-1 England series win despite India's dominant performance in Birmingham. The ongoing five-match Test series stands tied at 1-1. England had won the first Test at Headingley by successfully chasing 371 runs. India then bounced back with their first-ever Test win at Edgbaston, securing their biggest away victory in terms of runs. The banter began when Vaughan posted on X: "India have been too good this week .. Outstanding performance .. My prediction is still alive .. 3-1 England .. #ENGvsIND" Cheteshwar Pujara joked about Michael Vaughan's prediction of England winning the India series 3-1. Pujara quickly responded with a witty comeback: "Must confess I admire your insights in the studio, but can't say the same for your predictions 🤣" Keeping the exchange light-hearted, Vaughan replied: "Let's wait and see 😜😜" Wasim Jaffer shared a meme on Cheteshwar Pujara's response to Michael Vaughan. Also chiming in was former India batter Wasim Jaffer , who has a long history of banter with Vaughan, with a meme. India's historic win at Edgbaston was powered by Shubman Gill's exceptional batting performance, scoring 269 and 161 in both innings. Akash Deep also impressed with a ten-wicket haul in the match. The series continues with the third Test at Lord's in London on July 10, followed by matches in Manchester on July 23 and the final Test at the Kennington Oval starting July 31. Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story. Watch Episode 2 here.

Akash Deep reveals sisters cancer battle, dedicates match-winning show to her
Birmingham, Jul 7 (PTI) "Every time I had the ball in my hand, her thoughts would cross my mind," said an emotionally overwhelmed Akash Deep as he dedicated his stellar performance in India's jinx-breaking Test win over England to his sister, who is battling cancer for the past two months. Having taken 10 wickets in the series-levelling 336-run victory at the Edgbaston here on Sunday, the 28-year-old Bengal speedster well and truly arrived on the big stage with a performance of a lifetime on a track that was, for most part, a bowler's graveyard. "I have not spoken about this with anyone but two months back, my sister was diagnosed with cancer. She will be very happy with my performance and this will bring some smiles back," he controlled his emotions while talking to Cheteshwar Pujara on 'Jio Hotstar'. "Every time I picked up the ball, her thoughts and picture crossed my mind. This performance is dedicated to her. I want to tell her, 'Sis, we are all with you'," he added. Speaking about the match, he was happy that the plans and the processes that he put in place worked out wonderfully during the game. "My main aim was to hit the seam on hard lengths and let the ball move in. In case of Joe Root, my aim was to bowl from wide off the crease and get it to shape away. "In case of Harry Brook, I knew that he is committed on the backfoot and wanted to hit the seam hard and on fuller length, getting it to move in," he explained the planning behind his wicket-taking deliveries. A believer of living in the moment, Akash would like to savour his match-winning performance and not think about playing at the iconic Lord's cricket ground where the next Test will be held from July 10-14. "I haven't thought about my game-plan for Lord's. But it won't be very different from what it has been here. There would be days when it would work and there would be days, it won't work. "Our job is to stick to our strengths and believe in our processes," he said.

Next couple of days you can take off…seriously get into practice: Sunil Gavaskar after India's 1st Test loss against England
India has lost the first of the five-match Test series against England. Although the side did bat well in both innings, it is with the ball that they struggled to contain runs. Shubman Gill lacked experience with his leadership skills, and when the pressure was put on bowlers, too lacked the wicket-taking ability. 'Next couple of days you can take off, but now seriously get into practice. Leave this optional practice aside. You have come here to play for India. So, you practice in a way so that you will give yourself the best,' said Sunil Gavaskar, speaking on Sony Sports. 'Full credit to England. Despite India having five centurions, they seemed to have that confidence. That is what made them take the final wickets. So that is where India also missed out because those extra runs could have made the difference. As far as the fielding was concerned, it's just not the catch, but the outfielding was pretty ordinary. Not Test class,' Gavaskar added. 'Very good pitch to bat on so very tough to criticise the bowlers. Bumrah bowled so well. If he had somebody, keeping it bit tight, that would have been big help. But this is the first Test,' defending 371 runs, India lost the game by five wickets. 'Hopefully, lessons have been learned. There are eight days for the next match,' Gavaskar said. Gavaskar took the reference of Cheteshwar Pujara, and said the current Indian team should continue with the optional session. 'I mean, Cheteshwar Pujara has been part of the optional team. I know when he has opted to bat there have been people who have said, 'What are your doing?' including the coaching staff. I have been some of the coaching staff, not this one, Cheteshwar was not part of this team, they have said, 'Can't you have a break or something?''
