California stabbing suspect allegedly planned to kill several of his radio station coworkers, police say

Investigators say an attempted murder suspect arrested earlier in June allegedly had plans to kill several coworkers at his Northern California radio station. Chico police say officers responded to Results Radio along Manzanita Court on the morning of June 18 after getting reports that an employee at the station, later identified as 30-year-old Chico resident Kevin Leeson, had allegedly stabbed a coworker. At the scene, officers say the stabbing victim was trapped in a back patio with the suspect still inside the building -- blocking the person from getting out. The rest of the staff had evacuated. Police soon breached a fence at the back of the building and got to the stabbing victim, who was evaluated for minor injuries. With Leeson still inside the station and not coming out, crisis negotiators were called to the scene. Eventually, police say Leeson surrendered peacefully. Detectives allege that Leeson intended to kill several of his coworkers, but the plan was thwarted by how quickly the other employees and Chico police responded to the situation. Police did not detail how they learned of Leeson's alleged plans. Leeson has been arrested and booked into Butte County Jail. He's facing charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

5 Flat Shoes Stylish Women Say They Are Actually Wearing To The Office This Summer

Here in Blighty we like to moan when the weather is drizzly and grey, but we love to moan when it's sunny and hot. While Pimms in a pub garden and picky bits for tea is always welcome, our houses and, more importantly (to us) our wardrobes are simply ill-equipped for temperatures above 23 degrees. As for what to wear on our feet when it's warm and you're trying to be professional - well that's a total minefield. That's right, this weather is wreaking havoc on our usual office appropriate shoe options and we're a little flummoxed. Being office appropriate, of course, depends on your office, so we spoke to the most stylish and professional women we know, to learn exactly what they're wearing on their feet while being the bosses they are, and where to buy them. From M&S' Head of Womenswear Design, Lisa Illis, to Head of Brand and Communications at The British Fashion Council, Davina Wedderburn, this is what shoes stylish women are wearing to work, right now. 'As someone who has built a business based on the absolute necessity of dressing for comfort yet not comprising on style, it's fair to say this applies down to my feet! 'My working days consist of school runs, Lime bikes and running across town for meetings, so I need my shoes to help me get from A to B with ease and as someone with narrow long feet this can be hard. However, I have my favourites that I return to again and again. Recently the Chico style in black from Penelope Chilver has been a go-to; super elegant with the cross over the foot but also ludicrously are the perfect pairing to one of our nightie-come-day dress options like our Gingham Brigitte and headscarf. A really cute match but crucially, crazy comfy.' 'I wear my ruby-red Prada ballet flats at least three times a week; they instantly make whatever you style them with 10 times more special. Most recently I wore them with a vintage slip skirt, crisp white tee, and sharply tailored, pale-pink blazer for a day of meetings. I also love how they look with capri pants and an oversized shirt.' 'This summer, I have lived in these gem mesh flats from Hush. There's something quietly decadent about the sheer mesh and subtle embellishment — they feel polished yet undone, which makes them ideal for the office, meetings, events, and everything in between. 'Honestly, they pretty much go with everything but most recently, I've been wearing them with oversized black or white barrel leg jeans, a structured vest or tee, and a sharp blazer — effortless, but considered.' 'These shoes are my current obsession. I love a hybrid shoe and these Mary Jane Adidas trainers are super comfy but also manage to feel more dressy than a regular trainer?! I've been wearing with jorts, T-shirt maxi dresses and mini bubble skirts.' 'I can't count the number of times I've worn these backless suede loafer mules. The slip-on silhouette is stylish and iconic – ideal for high-low office dressing. They come in neutral black and a vibrant red. I've been styling these shoes with tailored trousers or Bermuda shorts, which are key this season. Equally, they'd look amazing with a mini dress and tailored jacket for a modern take on the workwear suit.' Abandoned Dog Saves Buddhist Monk From Bear Attack In Japan

Tougen Yoshihara, a Japanese Buddhist monk who adopted an abandoned dog, deemed too loud by its previous owners, received the reprieve of a lifetime when the same dog protected him during a bear attack. Mr Yoshihara, the abbot of Youkoku Temple, a historic temple in Niigata in central Japan, was on a walk in the woods near the temple last month when the unexpected encounter took place. Mr Yoshihara, alongside his one-year-old Beagle, Chico, was suddenly flanked by a 1.6-metre-tall bear who looked ominous, according to a report in the South China Morning Post. In the fight or flight mode, Mr Yoshihara decided to take off but stumbled and fell, trying to engineer an escape. The tumble was severe and resulted in an instant dislocated right shoulder, further lowering Mr Yoshihara's chances of survival against the apex predator. Despite being physically fit and having an exceptional muscular physique, all Mr Yoshiara could do was feel helpless in the situation. With the odds stacked against him, the 45-year-old monk was ready to throw in the towel until Chico intervened. Displaying extraordinary courage, the little puppy started barking fiercely at the bear. Eventually, the bear got scared and ran away with Chico running after it. As Chico drifted deeper into the woods, Mr Yoshihara gathered himself and ran after him, despite the intense pain from his shoulder. While searching the forest, he received a call from his wife who informed him that Chico had returned home. Overwhelmed by the news, Mr Yoshihara started crying before returning to his faithful dog, beaming with pride. He now prefers to call Chico his "saviour". While Mr Yoshihara may have saved Chico earlier by giving it a home, the puppy has returned the love equally by putting its life on the line and saving the monk. Notably, the Niigata prefecture, where Mr Yoshihara narrowly escaped the bear attack, is known for regular sightings of bears. As per local media, over 160 bear sightings have been reported this year alone, alongside two injuries resulting from bear attacks.

Japanese monk adopts abandoned dog deemed too noisy, later saved by canine from fierce bear

A Japanese Buddhist monk who adopted an abandoned dog was saved by the canine during a fierce bear attack. Tougen Yoshihara, the abbot of Youkoku Temple, a historic temple in Niigata in central Japan, was taking his one-year-old Beagle, Chico, for a walk in the woods near the temple on May 29 when an unexpected encounter occurred. Suddenly, a 1.6-metre-tall bear appeared before them, leaving Yoshihara in shock, as he had never before faced such a beast. In a panic, he stumbled and fell while attempting to escape, resulting in a dislocated right shoulder. Experts recommend that Beagles, a breed known for their loud and playful demeanour, should not be abandoned because of their noise. Photo: Nippon Television (NTV) At 45, Yoshihara was an avid exerciser with an exceptionally muscular physique, yet at that moment he felt nothing but helplessness, aware that survival seemed unlikely.
