Egypt expresses its readiness to host international conference on early recovery, reconstruction in Gaza

EU appoints new Special Representative for Middle East Peace Process
20 May 2025 17:32 BRUSSELS (AGENCIES) The European Council has appointed Christophe Bigot as the new Eropean Union Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process. In a statement issued in Brussels, the Council said Bigot's mission is to contribute to the EU's goal of achieving a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, based on the two-state solution, with Israel and a democratic, viable, peaceful and sovereign Palestinian state living side by side within secure and recognised borders, and enjoying normal relations with their neighbours, in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
