CAIRO (WAM)Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Sunday emphasised the urgent need to end the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.During a meeting with Christophe Bigot, the EU Special Representative (EUSR) for the Middle East Peace Process, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their land.Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's efforts, in cooperation with Qatar and the US, to reach a ceasefire in Gaza, exchange hostages and prisoners, and ensure the entry of humanitarian aid into the strip. He pointed to the gravity of the current situation in the Gaza Strip, in light of the humanitarian catastrophe there and Israel's continued obstruction of humanitarian aid access.Abdelatty expressed Egypt's readiness to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza as soon as a ceasefire agreement is reached. The top Egyptian diplomat highlighted the dangerous developments in the West Bank, warning of the serious implications of continued Israeli military operations in West Bank cities and villages. He stressed the necessity of stopping the repeated and blatant attacks by Israeli settlers against the Palestinians.Abdelatty said that he is looking forward to hosting the international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue, and the implementation of the two-state solution, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia.
He emphasised the importance of expanding international recognition of Palestine, and establishing a Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem (Al Quds) as its capital, considering it the only way to achieve sustainable peace, security, and stability in the region.

Oxfam: UK government complicit in war crimes in Israel

Oxfam's UK chief executive, Dr Halima Begum, expressed disappointment at a British court ruling which refused to halt the export of F-35 fighter jet parts to Israel, which it's using in its war on Gaza, on Monday. Oxfam submitted evidence in the case. 'The judgment is surprising and deeply disappointing,' Begum said. 'The Court and the Government have both acknowledged that UK arms are at risk of being used in breaches of international humanitarian law in Gaza yet prioritise the supply chains of fighter jets over the lives of Palestinians,' she added. 'It is unconscionable that the Government would continue to license the sale of components for F35 jets knowing that they are used to deliberately attack civilians in Gaza and destroy their means of survival, including vital water supplies. 'In the 10 months since the Government suspended some arms licences to Israel, over 15,000 people in Gaza have been killed, the majority of them women and children. 'There can be no excuse for the UK government's continued complicity in war crimes and crimes against humanity. The UK government should…immediately suspend all arms sales to Israel.'

Hamas official says they has not heard from Israel on proposed ceasefire deal for last month

Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said that they had received no response in the last four weeks about a ceasefire deal they had proposed to Israel, Al Jazeera reported on Monday. Hamdan said Hamas were determined 'to seek a ceasefire that will save our people, and we are working with mediators to open the crossings'. They also said that the US 'continues to send uncomfortable messages as an honest broker' and they had also not heard 'a clear position from Washington condemning Netanyahu's rejection of the ceasefire proposal' in the last four weeks. Al Jazeera also reported that Hamas believed that the Palestinian people should have their right to a sovereign state honored.

Netanyahu to meet with Trump on July 7

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit the White House for talks with President Donald Trump on July 7, AFP reported on Monday citing its sources as a US administration official. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said earlier on Monday that Netanyahu had "expressed interest" in what would be his third meeting with Trump since the Republican returned to power in January, and that both sides were working on a date. The visit comes as Washington presses for a ceasefire in Gaza. The ICC issued arrest warrants last November for both Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity over Israel's ongoing war in Gaza.
