HBO Max announced on Wednesday, July 9, that The Big Bang Theory spinoff series, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, will be coming to the streamer with Kevin Sussman set to reprise his beloved role as Stuart The series will also star Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie On the new series, Stuart is 'tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon,' per the official Big Bang Theory universe keeps expanding! HBO Max ordered a second spinoff, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, based on the characters from the celebrated CBS series. The streamer announced on Wednesday, July 9, that Chuck Lorre Productions will produce the forthcoming sitcom, which will follow comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) after he is 'tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon,' per the official logline. Sussman, 54, will reprise his beloved role alongside Lauren Lapkus, who will return as Stuart's girlfriend, Denise. Additionally, former Big Bang characters geologist Bert and quantum physicist Barry Kripke will return, portrayed respectively by Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie. Bert, Barry, Denise and Stuart will meet alternate-universe versions of characters from The Big Bang Theory, and as the title suggests, things go awry. Audiences were first introduced to Stuart and Barry in season 2 of the original series. As the show continued, the pair became recurring characters throughout the sitcom's entire run. The Big Bang Theory ran for 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019. However, Denise and Bert joined the series later, with Bert entering as a recurring character in Season 6. He would appear in a total of 15 episodes. Denise was added at the end of the series' run, when she first appeared in the second episode of the final season. Producer Chuck Lorre said in a statement that he 'wanted to do something radical,' that would in turn take him out of his 'comfort zone,' and landed on a series focused on 'something the characters on The Big Bang Theory would have loved, hated and argued about.' Lorre will return to the Big Bang Theory universe alongside the original series co-creator, Bill Prady. The pair will serve as executive producers with Zak Penn. Prady shared the writing alongside Lorre and Penn 'has been damn fun.' 'I'm certain that joy will come through the screen,' he said. 'Putting characters we loved from The Big Bang Theory into a complex science fiction story with the kind of mythology that those characters love while maintaining the comedic elements is incredibly satisfying.' 'I couldn't be more honored to be working with these amazing people,' Penn added. 'Chuck and Bill have given us one of the most enduring comedies of our time with The Big Bang Theory, and we can't wait to see the universe continue with this new series,' said Channing Dungey, Warner Bros. Television Group and WBD U.S. Networks chairman and CEO. 'With the help of Zak — a masterful storyteller — this next iteration promises to capture the essence of what fans loved about the original series, but with a completely fresh twist. We thank our partners HBO Max for joining us on this next adventure.' ‘Leanne' Trailer: Leanne Morgan Is Newly Single in Netflix Comedy
Leanne Morgan is bringing laughs to Netflix once again. The comedian stars in the new trailer for 'Leanne,' a comedy series about a woman navigating the fallout of a 33-year marriage. Morgan co-created the series alongside producer/screenwriter Susan McMartin and famed sitcom producer Chuck Lorre for a July 31 release. The trailer shows Leanne discovering that her longtime husband, played by 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' comic Ryan Stiles, has cheated on her with a presumably younger woman ('She has to be,' Leanne says. 'Otherwise, I'm driving off a bridge'). 'Supported by her family, including her ride-or-die sister Carol (Kristen Johnston), Leanne learns to embrace the chaos and finds strength, laughter and hope in the most unexpected places,' Netflix's story description reads. 'This heartfelt comedy proves that it's never too late to rewrite your story.' You can watch the trailer for 'Leanne' below. Morgan began her relationship with Netflix in 2023 when the streamer aired her comedy special, 'Leanne Morgan: I'm Every Woman.' In 2024, Morgan released her book, 'What in the World?! A Southern Woman's Guide to Laughing at Life's Unexpected Curveballs and Beautiful Blessings.' Netflix ordered 16 episodes of 'Leanne,' which was produced by Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc. in association with Warner Bros. Television. Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Graham Rogers and Hannah Pilkes round out the main cast, with Tim Daly, Jayma Mays, Annie Gonzalez and Blake Gibbons as recurring guests. Leanne OTT Release Date: When and where to watch the new comedy series by the ‘Grandmama from Tennessee'
Leanne OTT Release Date: Leanne Morgan, the Southern comedian who stole hearts with her relatable wit and 'mama knows best' charm in her Netflix stand-up I'm Every Woman, is now leading her very own sitcom, Leanne. And yes, it's as Southern, sassy, and sweet as a pecan pie with a punch. Leanne premieres July 31 on Netflix. All 16 episodes of this new comedy series will be available to stream from day one. Here's everything you need to know before it drops. What is Leanne about? At the heart of the show is Leanne, played by Morgan herself, a Southern grandmother whose life takes a sharp left turn when her husband of 33 years walks out on her for another woman. Sounds painful, right? But Leanne turns it into comedy gold. Think less sobbing, more laughter through tears, with a lot of casseroles and unsolicited family advice in between. The character of Leanne leans on her chaotic but loving family as she tries to figure out what's next. Retirement? Dating? Starting over? And she's doing it all with the sass and strength of a woman who's raised kids, made Jell-O salad for every church potluck, and isn't about to let life get the last laugh. Who's in the cast? The cast lineup is as solid as Grandma's meatloaf. Leanne Morgan as Leanne – our leading lady, navigating life post-divorce with humour and heart. Kristen Johnston (Mom, 3rd Rock from the Sun) as Carol, Leanne's loud and wild sister who's more dive bar than Bible study and her fiercest supporter. Graham Rogers (Ray Donovan, The Kominsky Method) as Tyler, Leanne's golden-boy son, juggling fatherhood, a dominant wife, and his mom's drama. Hannah Pilkes as Josie, Leanne's unpredictable daughter who's forever the rebellious middle finger to her brother's golden halo. Ryan Stiles (Whose Line Is It Anyway?) as Bill, Leanne's ex-husband, who traded RV sales and family life for… well, a midlife crisis. Celia Weston as Mama Margaret, the church-going matriarch who somehow always has a casserole and a scripture ready. Blake Clark as Daddy John, the old-school, straight-talking patriarch who may be outdated but means well. Who's behind the scenes? Leanne is co-created by Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, The Kominsky Method) and Susan McMartin (Mom), who know a thing or two about heartfelt family sitcoms with bite. Morgan also serves as co-creator and executive producer, making sure her voice rings true in every scene. The show is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. And if that doesn't scream 'quality sitcom,' nothing does.

‘The Big Bang Theory' Spinoff Gets Stuart-Centric Title
EXCLUSIVE: The Big Bang Theory spinoff on Max is untitled no more — and it's good news and bad news for Kevin Sussman's Stuart Bloom character. The series, which remains in development, will be titled Stuart Fails To Save The Universe, Deadline has learned. That puts Stuart at the center of the offshoot but also hints that the beloved sidekick, who could never quite catch a break on Big Bang, may not have better luck on his own. Stuart Fails To Save The Universe, from Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, extends the trend of every Big Bang Theory spinoff being named after its main character(s), following in the footsteps of Young Sheldon and its offshoot Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. More from Deadline 2025 Premiere Dates For New & Returning Series On Broadcast, Cable & Streaming Max's 'Beleza Fatal' Turns To Whodunit Telenovela Plot For Series Finale: Who Killed Benjamin Argento? 'Sex Lives Of College Girls' Creators Mindy Kaling & Justin Noble React To Max Cancellation: "We Are Living In An Era Where We Need Comedy Badly" It is also is the first title of a Big Bang spinoff that is thematically connected to the moniker of the mothership, The Big Bang Theory, named after a popular theory about the origin of the universe. On Stuart Fails To Save The Universe, Sussman is joined by fellow Big Bang alums Lauren Lapkus, who plays Kevin's girlfriend Denise, Brian Posehn (Bert Kibbler) and John Ross Bowie (Barry Kripke). Because the series is still awaiting green light, the quartet are not formally cast in it but have talent holding deals with WBTV with the purpose of starring in the spinoff once it's picked up. The new series is written and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, co-creator, executive producer of Big Bang and all of its spinoffs to date, Zak Penn and Big Bang co-creator Bill Prady. From the moment the Big Bang spinoff was unveiled in April 2023, there has been speculation that it may revolve around Stuart Bloom (Sussman) and his comic book store. While a reliable source of comic relief, the kind-hearted Stuart also was often lonely and depressed as he strived to belong and be part of the Big Bang gang. Things started looking up for him when he met Denise. He also became close friends with Raj in Season 6 of the mothership series.
