M-E's L'Amoreaux holds Basketball Camp for Youth Athletes
JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – One time Maine-Endwell Spartan, now Fairfield Stag Kaety L'Amoreaux, once made her mark on basketball in Section IV, and is now doing it in the MAAC. Following her NCAA Tournament run, she's back in the Southern Tier, helping the youth train to be where she is now.
Friday, she held the KL4MMY Youth Girls Basketball Camp at the Bulldogs Sports Complex in Johnson City. Girls from 1st to 8th grade were able to come out and improve their skills on the court, and look to further their push to the next level with one of the best from the area to do it. The event was held from 9-12, and while L'Amoreaux is home, she was still able to do what she loves, while also helping out others.
'I'm very passionate about coaching and giving back to the community, and it's just such a fun thing to do for me,' said L'Amoreaux.
The 2022 BCANY Class A Player of the Year and 4 4-time All-Conference and All-Section selection has high praise for camps like this. The 1,000 point scorer in high school says she used to attend camps just like this one, and it's these types of events that helped her get to where she is now, and will help young athletes coming up make the jump to the next level.
'These camps are where I sparked my love for basketball, and I mean, I saw that in my growth as a player,' she said. 'I always wanted another camp to do more drills. So it was kind of where my passion for it started.
This past season the Stags went 19-1 in the MAAC, winning the conference tournament and 28-5 overall, falling to Kansas State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. In her two seasons, L'Amoreaux has averaged 11.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists with Fairfield.
