M-E's L'Amoreaux holds Basketball Camp for Youth Athletes

Yahoo18-04-2025
JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – One time Maine-Endwell Spartan, now Fairfield Stag Kaety L'Amoreaux, once made her mark on basketball in Section IV, and is now doing it in the MAAC. Following her NCAA Tournament run, she's back in the Southern Tier, helping the youth train to be where she is now.
Friday, she held the KL4MMY Youth Girls Basketball Camp at the Bulldogs Sports Complex in Johnson City. Girls from 1st to 8th grade were able to come out and improve their skills on the court, and look to further their push to the next level with one of the best from the area to do it. The event was held from 9-12, and while L'Amoreaux is home, she was still able to do what she loves, while also helping out others.
'I'm very passionate about coaching and giving back to the community, and it's just such a fun thing to do for me,' said L'Amoreaux.
The 2022 BCANY Class A Player of the Year and 4 4-time All-Conference and All-Section selection has high praise for camps like this. The 1,000 point scorer in high school says she used to attend camps just like this one, and it's these types of events that helped her get to where she is now, and will help young athletes coming up make the jump to the next level.
'These camps are where I sparked my love for basketball, and I mean, I saw that in my growth as a player,' she said. 'I always wanted another camp to do more drills. So it was kind of where my passion for it started.
This past season the Stags went 19-1 in the MAAC, winning the conference tournament and 28-5 overall, falling to Kansas State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. In her two seasons, L'Amoreaux has averaged 11.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists with Fairfield.

BTN analyst shares positive remarks on Michigan State hoops entering next season

One Big Ten Network basketball analyst seems to be pretty high on the Spartans heading into next season. Former Purdue Boilermaker and current Big Ten Network analyst Rapheal Davis shared some positive remarks on the Spartans for next season this week. Davis took to social media platform X to note he's expecting big things from Coen Carr, Jeremy Fears Jr. and Carson Cooper this upcoming season. Here's the exact post on X from Davis: This is the first time this offseason that Davis has provided positive insight on the Spartans from his point of view. He recently was praising the growth he was hearing for Carr and has also previously said he's expecting a breakout season for Fears. Michigan State is coming off a Big Ten championship winning season, where they also reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans, though, lost a number of key contributors off last year's team, including Jaden Akins, Jase Richardson and Tre Holloman. It's clear Davis is high on Michigan State entering next season and would assume he'd consider them a solid value pick to make some noise in the Big Ten. It'll be interesting to see if Carr, Fears and Cooper can live up to this hype this season, and truly elevate their game to lead the Spartans to another strong year on the hardwood. Will Riley: Wizards sign 21st overall pick to rookie scale contract

Former Illinois forward Will Riley, the 21st pick in the 2025 NBA draft, signed his rookie-scale contract with the Washington Wizards on Sunday, according to the official NBA transaction report. Riley was the Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year after averaging 12.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists on 43.2% shooting from the field as a freshman. He logged nine starts, finishing third on the team in scoring after registering six 20-point performances. He will make $3,512,520 next season, according to Spotrac. The 6-foot-8 standout helped Illinois reach the NCAA Tournament for the fifth straight year this past season as the sixth seed. He set a freshman program record with 22 points and four assists on March 21 in a win over Xavier in the first round. Riley was projected to be a first-round pick because of his size, scoring potential and ability as a passer. He was also able to create separation for himself, with his array of dribble moves, jab steps and step-backs on the perimeter. The Canadian also proved a capable floor spacer, despite shooting 32.6% on 4.1 attempts per game from beyond the arc. He worked extensively on his shot throughout the predraft process and will look to showcase it with the Wizards next season. Riley is expected to suit up for the Wizards for at least five games in the NBA Summer League, beginning on Friday against the Phoenix Suns (9 p.m. EDT, ESPN).

Ohio State basketball coach Jake Diebler breaks down the game of big-man Josh Ojianwuna

There are a lot of new faces to get acclimated to for the Ohio State basketball team this coming season, and rightfully so. Head coach Jake Diebler kept some key pieces he felt were important for the team moving forward, and supplemented them with transfers and freshmen he believes will mold the team into one that can get back to the NCAA Tournament after the 2025-2026 season. One of those new pieces is Baylor big-man transfer Josh Ojianwuna who came to Columbus to add size, depth, and another scoring option in the paint. He'll also provide some much-needed resistance in the paint and another rebounder to get Ohio State back into offensive sets. Diebler has been taking to social media this offseason to provide some updates to the program, and part of that has been his breakdown of what some of the new faces bring to the team. He clearly likes what Ojianwuna can mean for the team. Take a look at how excited the OSU head man is to insert a big body like the native Nigerian when this winter season hits in the Schottenstein Center. We're still months away from the OSU basketball season getting underway, but hopefully the new faces and the familiar ones can combine to make this season much better than the last three we've all witnessed.
